In one setting, the commercials are the day to day ethos, spinning around you. The "times" of the period you live in.
In the other, these have passed. That "energy" isn't there anymore, so we go find it. I actually have a whole playlist of 90s his TV intros that I think I have public lol.

If you had told me in 1996 that the world would one day be so depressing and bleak, the entertainment so vapid, that I'd voluntarily watch hours of 90's commercials and actually enjoy it, I wouldn't have believed you. Yet here we are.

this is why I miss video stores at least you could make a commitment on what to watch that night. Now my wife says pick a movie, so i now spend an hour browsing through Netflix Hulu prime Max whatever there is and literally don't find anything you want to watch.
Part of my brain doesn’t think this was all that long ago because I remember all of these, while the other part reminds me I’m now middle-aged and not a kid anymore. So many mixed emotions watching these. I wish I could go back

That's a good way of putting it. I'm glad it wasn't so crazy for us who grew up during the 90s. We still had time to enjoy the outside world.
I don't feel like answering the phone today, ringer off and answering machine on low just incase there is an important call, and then you got a little exercise as you sprinted across the house to answer it in time

I was born in '72 so the 90s was my 20s. My 80s childhood was peak joy and wonder, but 90s was still so warm hearted and wholesome, even in the commercials.
Back then, we would be so excited for the commercials to end so we can get back to our shows. But now look at us...watching them for fun.
I guess Demolition Man predicted the future. They had a radio channel that just played commercials from the 1990's because it was nostalgic.
It's easier to bear when you know you have the power to stop at any time and now, you don't have to watch them at all. Even now, how many of us sit through a RUclips ad? Likely none of us, we all hit that skip button. And if you're like me, you pay for Premium to skip those ads entirely (and I skip over most RUclipsr's sponsorships). Even if I was back in 1996, I would still hate the commercials.

The 70's, 80's & 90's were just a magical time to be alive. I missed those years so very much. I'm 52 years young and I can say I'm very grateful I got to live through the greatest decades

These commercials were taped in the spring of 96 so I was just getting ready to graduate freshman year of hs. Great times

The world has gotten much better since the 90s but journalists have gone completely mad. Look at how they got everyone in a frenzy all the time now. It's important for people to realize that what they hear isn't from the source but from the middle-man journalists who are trained in deception. Important that people start demanding standards to be reintroduced into journalism because they have everyone yelling and screaming about just normal things and stuff that's not a big deal if phrased differently.
If you think the world is worse then consider that maybe your source on the world has just gone bad. I personally left all sources of news a few years back after decades of debate and I know this is the way we're meant to live.

Did not realize that it was affecting todays markets. It went from like low two dollars to like high four dollars. People panicked bought gas. This was New Jersey.

Yes. Since 9/11 I haven't known a single minute where I wasn't on edge, wondering what's coming next. Going back to the 90's through these commercials helps me remember a time when the pillars of the USA weren't being knocked down one by one.

That’s actually excuse as adults we don’t do much of what adults used to do. Like getting married, starting a family, owning a house, paying off cars. It’s very pricey now. That’s why we feel like we’re still young. Those rites of passages come much later in life now for the every-day person.

I think the 90s were the perfect balance of having enough technology that wasn't too intrusive, balanced and wholesome entertainment, there wasn't as much terrible junk food, fewer fat, sick, and nearly ded people, (mostly) everyone being financially prosperous, people got along. Indeed like someone else said, the 90s through to Sept 11, 2001 (funny enough, the day I write this is Sept 11, 2022), were the calm before the storm.
The 90s is why so many people like me are depressed, we were sold the 90s growing up but instead we have something much worse.
Yeah, and what worries me is what's to come 20-30 years from now.

The disasters like climate change and the crumbling of American democracy were already well underway in the 90s, but the media and everyone had their heads in the sand instead of facing reality and fixing shit before it hit the fan. We're all now paying the price for the blissful ignorance of past generations.
This truly was the golden age of entertainment. The best movies, best music, video games were coming up, and the internet was still the Wild West. The political climate wasn’t hostile and the people talked to each other like humans.
Back when ‘The Future’ was something to look forward to.

The year I graduated High School and back when things were amazing, music was amazing, it was a time where you had actual friendships with people, you had time to go out and enjoy actual life. This was a time when you had to put money in a phone booth to call someone, before smart phones, and you were able to get back to people at your own convince without people "seeing" you online. I miss this time in my life so bad, and I would give anything to return to this time again, especially with all that is currently going on in our world.
same here. I didn't grow up on internet (born in the 60s), and if we could only go back in time, I would be so happy to have or live without internet again - and have life in non covid times. tv was special years ago. Not now.
I practice this now, no one said you have to respond to texts and emails NOW or appear online, family and friends know that I won't respond immediately and they except it.

I was born in 96 and I can honestly say it was the greatest time to be a kid. Watching my dad and my older brothers play video games for the first time on Nintendo and Sega Genesis was some of the best memories of my childhood. The joy that filled the house was indescribable. The 90,s had a certain innocence that is hard to put into words

Someone told me that the 90s is the only decade that was obsessed with itself, and that really checks out. There's so much nostalgia each decade for previous decades, but the 90s was all about itself.
I think in the 90’s we were really rejecting a lot. The Berlin Wall had fallen, same with the Soviet bloc era. Eighties structured outfits with shoulder pads and bright colors gave way to grunge, flannel, and darker and more natural makeup. We didn’t want to be associated with the cold era and all that came before. Of course, once 9/11 happened, we once again yearned for the past, for “simpler times.”
There was a lot of nostalgia for the 60s and Woodstock during the 90s

I was born in 83. My childhood was awesome. I wouldn't change anything then. Passing notes in class, recording your favorite songs off the radio on a tape deck hoping the dj didn't talk over the beginning. Riding your bike with friends through the back roads of town. Fishing. Being outdoors. Using your imagination. Playing tackle football in the fricken street. We wore no helmets or padding. We had Atari and NES, we got to see the evolutions of gaming. We built bike ramps, called our school gf's at home hoping their parents wouldn't answer. We wrote actual letters and mailed them. No cells phones, no social media. Life was simple, Now today I live on a house boat away from society because it is a ball of shit.

Born in 74. I remember the worlds fair in 1980. Going to the circus. Riding in the back of the station wagon behind the seats with no seat belts. I remember my parents hiding us under the blankets so they wouldn’t have to pay extra at the drive in movie theater. Everyone smoked and drank. I remember riding with my dad in the pickup (three on the tree and four on the floor). There was a rusted out hole in the floor the size of a soccer ball in front of the passenger seat. I remember when I was little peeing through it as we were driving down the road thinking it was the coolest thing ever.
85 here. Everyday since I was born the world has gotten worse. Windows 95 Netscape was the beginning of the end.

I mainly enjoy these 90s commercials because my Grandma use to record movies in the 90s before she passed away...she'd always fall asleep before the movie was over so the first half would be commercial free and the second half would have commercials if you were really lucky you'd get an episode of a tv show like Save by the Bell or something at the end of the movie as well lol. In the late 00s I'd rewatch the VHS' for nostalgia and to feel close to my Grandma. Miss you Grandma and Grandpa.

In 1996, I was 14 and a freshman in high school. It was an amazing time that was full of creativity and innovation. Friends were real and relationships were built on loyalty and substance. The music was awesome and people knew how to have a good time. When social media came on the scene, it poisoned our society and diminished authenticity. I wish there was a time machine. I'd go back to the 90's in a second.
I was born in 1996 (January 4th). These were playing on TV while I was most likely crying, playing, and tasting random objects. If I go back now I'd be in diapers and an unsafe high chair
As a 90s kid I couldn't agree with you more. We just had a real good balance of everything. Music, movies, technology and just being outside. We lived in the moment and enjoyed every second of it. Nothing in the present day compares to that.
Every generation thinks their time was "the best." I was 16 in 1996. Yes, it was a great time but my parents would say the 60s and 70s were the best. It's really just hubris. The world evolves.

back in 96, it was truly glorious, you come home from school, call up your friends, we would go skateboarding, then 7 pm was when the simpsons would be on, and home improvement, we had sega genesis and super nintendo, nsync was on the radio as a new group, disney channel gave out free weekend access once every 2 or 3 months, then the weekends, saturday morning from 6am to 12pm was all cartoons, animaniacs, xmen, then we end it off with some kratts creatures or some steve irwin.

Things were just as bad in the 90’s as they are now, it’s just in the 90’s people weren’t able to communicate their problems as readily because the internet wasn’t as widely accessible.

Man I miss these days. I was born in 1980. Got to experience the 80s and 90s. Things then compared to now are quite different. During these times, yeah we had gaming consoles and we had the internet. To me, your Nintendo or Sega Genesis was a thing of convenience. Being outside was where it was at. If you got grounded then, you knew you weren’t gonna see outside for a while except school, going out with your parents or staring out your window. We didn’t have Social Media to corrupt us. You had your friends for that. Your face wasn’t planted in a smartphone all day everyday. If you wanted to see your homie and do some gaming, hop on your bike or catch that city bus or beg and plead your parents to drop you off. Movies, music and just the total atmosphere of the 90s was so much better. These types of videos do NOT depress me. They make me smile. It’s like taking a trip back in time when things were better. Give me my 80s and 90s back!

I was also born in 1980 but I feel like my memories don't start to fully zap into my brain until 1987 or so. I mean I have a lot of memories prior to that but stuff from the late 80s on is crystal clear lol. Guess my early years were fairly lame and uneventful.
