3 Reasons Why Speak No Evil (2022) is terrible: a review

SPEAK NO EVIL. Directed by Christian Tafdrup, 2022.
Well I really did not enjoy this one. Oh and there's an American remake on the way. Joy....
Review contains minor spoilers - I don't actually reveal the plot twist, but I talk around it.

On a vacation in Toscana, a Danish family instantly becomes friends with a Dutch family. Months later, the Danish couple receives an unexpected invitation. It doesn't take long before the joy of reunion is replaced with misunderstandings.

Besides being literally horrible, I mean, horrific events for a family to go through, I think there’s no “clear message”, its “purpose” is quite inexact.

Comparing this to Funny Games nails it I think. This film fails to incite this type of feeling at all. Also aping the last line from The Strangers with a fraction of the impact didn't help.

Rather disappointing all around! A shame because the filmmaking is rather nice. Could have been good with a reasonable screenplay.
