  • Mt. Flora hike Colorado June 2018.
Total time from vehicle to Mt Flora summit and back; 3 hours.
Listen to the wind, take in the views, and feel what it's like at the summit of a 13,000ft mountain.
Normally I edit the heck out of my work, but, after watching this I really thought it captured the experience and left my hands off the "cut" button.

Great video! It really captures the solitude one expects from a journey of that magnitude.

Thanks for the video. I'll be taking some friends up there next week? How's the snow in first mile? Do you recommend traction devices? We'll be staying on the trail.

      Thanks for the thanks!
I was wearing standard running shoes. I was a little worried when I pulled into the parking lot and noticed a man taking off some pretty impressive footwear/gear. I figured I would go as far as I could and be better prepared next time. To my surprise I was able to walk over the snow in the morning (probably a good 2 ft deep) but had some trouble with it on the way down (nearing the parking lot). Not a slip issue, the snow just wouldn't hold me up as afternoon approached. Needless to say, when I got back to the car I had soggy shoes.
Also, I took the trail/road that leads up to Colorado Mines Peak 1st - then over to Flora. No snow on trail after that initial walk along the road through the woods. If I would have gone straight for Flora, there would have been a snow issue I wasn't prepared for, in which case I would recommend better gear than what I had on the day I went.

Thank you. I'll be leading some city slickers up there next weekend. I've been looking for some trip reports but your video was excellent.
