I have a 2011 and I take it on dirt roads everywhere and it’s been a big trooper with what I put it through. I’m surprised it hasn’t broken completely with its 143,000 miles on it. I hope I didn’t jinx it
what manufactures need to know about your videos, People watch these even now to see if its a SUV, Truck, Car that they may want to buy. I am now looking at a rogue because you all...So looking at SUV so keep doing what you are doing. 7 years later and this video still is valid. Thank you guys.
@@2URLex I have it. If the CVT is still OK, just do the CVT thing: add a external cooler (around $100 on Amazon + $100 labor) and CVT fluid changes every 30k miles and it will last more than 200k miles...
I just bought a 2012 it’s the same color as the one in the video it’s fully loaded. And I love it. Can’t wait till it warms up so I can open the sunroof
I am impressed with the capability of this little crossover. Especially when I realized that this was the Rogue and not the Murano, which I've had on my brain lately. I know the interior of this vehicle needs a makeover, but after seeing this . . . I'd give it a test drive . . . for my needs anyway. Good vid guys! Keep 'em comin'!
I have a 2008 Rogue and the CVT blew up with only 133K miles on it. From what I have read online since this unfortunate event, it seems mine did well to make it that far. I'll never own another Nissan product or another CVT in anything ever again.
Yes there is.. the cvt.. trans has an engine break.. slide the shifter to the right in s- which.. from drive will activate the engine break .. rpms.. spike and you slow down.. my 07. Murano has this feature
i can take my mustang on that. GUYS. roman and nathan are journalists and they try their best to make videos for us. They have no sides. KEEP IT UP GUYS :)
Thank you so much for your videos, very nice and informative.(I like the fact that you guys take these CUVs to off-road and no other car related magazine would do).I remember when i saw my first video on your channel the Suzuki grand vittara( one was stock the other one had a lift and mud terrain tire) comparison ,and I’m happy to say that you guys have not disappointed me ever since, please keep up the good work ever and thank you.
Of course this is just a dirt road. That's why we made this video just for you: watch?v=zxvI5mw63EI. We have a $100 USD that's all yours and you can prove your point to over 100,000 TFLcar subscribers. Please take us up on this challenge. So far no one has had the cajones to actually do more that just comment about how easy this looks.
Wait, you can't blame the running boards on the Rav4 when you guys said that it was the exhaust that was the limiting factor. ;-) See, there are a few of us out here with no life that we not only comment, but read your comments and then comment on your responses ;-) -- Great job guys! I enjoy your vids.
This is a great and fun review :) I'm a registered nurse and I need to get to work in the winter which can be very stressful. I just bought the 2013 Nissan Rogue today and I was already very happy but your review has made me ecstatic :D
I will take you up on that as soon as I can get to colorado, but if you ever make it to AZ, and find a similar trail, I'll take you up on that as well!
The nissan Rogue needs a make over imo. It looks boring and doesn't offer much except for the all around view camera. Other small size suv's are more suitable for onroad and offroad.
Not that you are going off-road all the time with it but pushing the car to its limits and seeing how well it did, makes you sure that this is a good and safe car for your family. But I agree, it is beginning to look outdated, like the Suzuki Grand Vitara. Great job guys.
It's due for the redesign, but hopefully Nissan shouldn't lower the ride height. The Subaru Forester has a Lineartronic CVT. The AWD Lock is almost similar to the Forester's X-MODE.
I am not talking about off road tires but ATR tires. Even worse when you Americans test snow and winter driving with “all season stock tires” instead of putting on proper winter tires. There are different tires for different purposes that all I am saying.
dude they talk all the time about 'real world testing'. to me that means 'stock car testing', or...'as you buy it from the dealer' testing. which means they will have the OE tires, not optimal off road tires. obviously if you add solid off road tires, it'll do better.
What exactly broke off of the bottom? My dad has a rogue and the radiator deflector panel came off after running over a big traffic cone that fell in front of his car in a construction zone.
Please test the Dodge Journey off road my mom & dad just got one she wont let me and my dad take it off road she don't want it wrecked. so i wanted to prove to them it can do it.
haha priceless! I like your reviews but I wonder would you consider testing with more proper tires on all your 4wd tests. It would be even more competent with for example Cooper AT3 s on it.
yes 'us americans' use all season tires, because that's what the dealers put on our cars. i have a set of all seasons, AND a set of winter tires on my mazda because i drive 600 mile for work. I have no idea wtf 'atr' stands for, it might be a place to start. in this review i saw no snow whatsoever, and I saw no need for 'proper winter tires'. Given that I live in Maine in the USA, where there are 4 distinct seasons, I know that anyone with a brain can take this review and apply it accordingly.

Aloha agumon5 if you wait for the all-new design Nissan Frontier It should have a lot better MPG and the all new Nissan Rogue for 2014 will have a hybrid set up in 2015 I should have a lot better gas mileage the all-new rogue gets 33 on front wheel drive AWD gets 32
I highly recommend not buying one of these. I too live in Colorado and I have a 2011. Overall the car is great except for the transmission. Which is a pretty important part of the car. It will do pretty good off road, that is if the transmission hasnt overheated by then. When I head into the mountains after about 40 miles the transmission will overheat and go into a safe mode which means it wont go over 2,000 rpm until it cools back down. As you can imagine driving up a mountain you need the power so by the time I get to Eisenhower tunnel Im going about 40 MPH until I can go downhill on the other side. God forbid I try Vail pass after that. On the plus side it is smart enough to go into safe mode so it wont destroy itself but I really dont have the energy to fight Nissan over it. It is not yet recalled so the transmission has to be completely ruined before they will replace it. Needless to say I will never buy another Nissan.
You should install a transmission cooler, it would keep the transmission cool and make it last much longer. I have a Eurospec '14 Forester XT and it came with a stock cooler, the US spec ones do not have them, I have no idea why.
My Fiance and I are both planning to purchase new vehicles as a college graduation gift to ourselves. I will be finishing my M.A. and she will be finishing her M.S both at the same time during the Spring of 2015. I already know I want to purchase a Nissan Frontier Pro 4X and she is considering the Nissan Rouge (As a family vehicle). I wonder if Nissan would cut us an even better deal if we purchase both at the same time....
I think its funny you guys call that off roading and they have low horse power and have car suspension they dont even have solid diffrentials that is stuped

It is EXACTLY the same trail. We stopped the RAV4 on the lower section as it was scraping. We use this ORV trail on most of our off-highway tests.
3 things i hate
1.- transmission noise
2.- no storage
3.-poor rear visibility
Also really great to maintain and perfect if you're under 5'4"Plenty of visibility

DR Kirby you could have replaced the transmission with a real good one like srt4 trans

my view is the rouge is the sentra for the people who can't be seen in a sentra.
Nice review :) and if that kid in the red shirt is doing all of that exterior filming, its very impressive!
Nissan is making a new model very soon, but at my local Nissan dealer, they're discounting these by the dozen and it's a pretty good deal!

Because it is a manufacturer license plate, Nissan builds cars here in Tennessee

Nissan makes nice looking cars.....with really bad drive trains.
you all should do a full mash up of the range rover vs the jeep grand cheeroke, 0-60, interior, sound, off road, the whole 9
