They are all basically playing with fully developed nen abilities and their main teacher is the one person who we have explicitly been told made a critical error in the development of his hatsu lol. It is classic irony.
That kind of situation is only applicable to the world where super powers is nonexistent. They think they can defeat anyone because they are unique and super power is still alien to them. In the case of hxh world where super powers are prevalent and accessible to almost anyone is not the same. They still think they powered up after learning nen but also subconsciously aware that the opponent also has nen abilities. So your delineation of the obtained power is demonstrably erroneous.

Hisoka's kinda arrogant and with good reason. Bungee Gum is WAY too versatile of an ability, no one as of yet could break free from it once it latches on. Literally the only downside to the ability is if he has to fight a lot of people at once.
I like that he tells you how it works because that alone won't help you. He going to use it in a way you didn't see coming. He's a magician, so he sets the stage, and then baffles you.
many people said that hisoka was using his hatsu for hiding. specially like characters like: belerainte (ok ngl i thought that he is hisoka cuz he finish her dialogs with a little ❤) Illumi (well its logic thing that cuz illumi can use his needls for changed his apparence) Nasubi king (this theory was the most crazy that I never ever see in the hxh fandom)
One of the most awesome things we've been able to experience though HxH, is the real-world technology development connection, made in-part possible by the insane (and completely understandable) periods of hiatus the story has experienced. I keep thinking of that time in Greed Island when Kalluto was hiding in the bushes and Hisoka spotted him, the other Spiders commenting that he's a freak of nature and unnaturally perceptive. Sure, Hisoka isn't really trying hard with a disguise, he's just wearing a tracksuit and has his hair down, so he could be difficult to recognize from very far away or in a huge crowd. But this is a huge ship with a lot of people, and I do think it's pretty safe to assume that if any Spider does randomly get in his vicinity, he would notice them, who aren't really wearing any disguises, before they spot him. I can only see Chrollo getting a drop on him.
I'm guessing the strategy here is to draw the spiders to the third deck. That would be why Hisoka is hiding but not really hiding. And you're right -- he'd likely be impossible to ambush without the use of some special ability to make it easier.
Chrollo is at a disadvantage vs hisoka if he’s not aware of him first. Chrollo isn’t Batman. He got captured by kurapika and outplayed by hisoka with texture surprise with his fortune, thus making the troupe split up cause he didn’t know it was a trick. Chrollo isn’t Batman. He can still be tricked and ambushed. Hisoka is at an advantage right now.
For the Hisoka and illumi cosplay each other theory. The way Hisoka dresses rn and his hair kinda reminds me of the way young illumi dressed when he had short hair.
The fact that we never got an answer to "Are You Hisoka" from the punching ability makes me want to believe something hinky is going on here and that's not really Hisoka, but that might just be me being stubbornly attached to the Illumi disguise theory, lol.

Hisoka walking around just like that doesn’t invalidate the theory of Hisoke being disguised as Illumi among the Phantom Troupe. It’s not the first time the two have covered for each other and managed to deceived the Ryodan (Yorknew). -- I can’t wait to see that Heil-ly discover he bit off more than he could chew, facing 3 members of the Troupe at once. Becoming newly empowered with Nen has made him drunk with power after killing ordinary people, but in Nen-user vs. Nen-user fights, experience counts for a lot.
I mean he has a prostetic foot now. I wouldn't put it past him to rip his other foot out to make height manipulation easier, and potentially improve his mobility.
Post mortem nen has always known to nen users, that's the reason why the Troupe didn't try to kill Karapika because they fear his post mortem nen would kill Chrollo. But I guess Chrollo simply refresh Hisoka on it
It is expressly tied to resentment. Hisoka is playing and enjoying his fight with Chrollo until he realizes he played around too much and is getting jumped. Having his fight stolen is what triggers Hisoka to use post mortem nen. It isnt exactly that he stole the idea from Chrollo, but close enough lol.

It's literally doesn't make any sense... like Illumi's face is much slimmer so Hisoka can't just put Texture Surpise on his face and suddenly make his face smaller (bigger yes by adding bungee gum but not smaller) , not only that what about the eyes... Hisoka will just put TS on his eyes or what. Also what about Kalluto... like Kalluto wouldn't be able to recognize his brother by behaviour or nen. That theory is just one big plot hole.

Just wanted to share an idea I had a few days after reading the chapter, everyone who lynch blindly punched with her ability in the search for Hisoka is essentially getting a Nen initiation and having their aura nodes/pores opened. So maybe we could expect to see the first people she hit for answers again down the line later in the succession war or even in the dark continent when they land
Completely agree. Post-mortem Nen is on of the coolest aspects of Nen imo. And after Pitou, it's the most intimidating to me. Like even if one kills their enemy, they could have a more powerful postmortem form to deal w too
while I have always loved the Illumi is Hisoka (or Illumi is pretending that he is Hisoka pretending to be Illumi) theory ever since "Illumi" asked for a room with a shower.... it would also be a classic troll maneuver to have everyone on the Black Whale and the entire audience of HxH manically scouring the ship for people who may be disguised as Hisoka while he strolls around nonchalantly wearing his normal face. lol. Illumi can mimic Hisoka's look and mannerisms perfectly though so it would still be hilarious if they were both wandering around as each other (maybe even swapping rolls every so often for laughs). Then again, since Clark Kent can apparently just wear glasses and not be recognized as Superman, I guess Hisoka wearing his normal face is actually a disguise since so few people have seen his normal face :D on a side note... while highly unlikely to be related characters, Zakuro's design especially when he is sweating bullets in front of Hisoka, reminds me of Sadaso's character design (that guy Killua threatened to kill in Heaven's Arena for kidnapping Zushi...)
the way togashi set this arc up is insanely good confined space with powerful nen users on many floors plus all the regular citizens the mafia an the princes , this arc does have the potential to be one of the best in manga history , nen itself as a power system is so incredibly well written
I feel kinda bad that all the spiders are being set up to be assasinated & wiped out, they're my favorite group, I hope togashi at least keeps 2 or 3 of them alive by the end of the arc preferably chrollo included, I'd love to see his journey of finding himself and reflecting on things & how he's gonna react to the dark continent & maybe even a plot line where the few surviving spiders give up on taking revenge & finding a new interest in the dark continent, completely changing the approach, I feel like hxh is exactly the kind of story to contain such shifts/ character developments.
If Meruem’s Character Arc is anything to go by I believe this could be done in the ways you allude to; as it has been done ohh soo exquisitely in the past during the Chimera Ant Arc. Mai top three picks of Spiders Surviving to make Landfall at The Real Dark Continent would be: -Chrollo (bawse man) -Shizuku (goth Velma) -Feitan (if Hiei/L from Death Note/Sasuke Trio-Fusion-Ha’d) -I would hope Machi survives too if we’re counting Three Spiders + The Boss

Something I only just realised, Lynch's ability likely involves some form of manipulation in order to gain the info. As it forces the target to answer. Meaning the reason hisoka didn't answer May be because he is under the control of manipulation already, perhaps because the 'illumi is hisoka' theory is true and they're doing a switcheroo and therefore it was actually Illumi who can't be manipulated as he's already manipulating himself. In fact this was actually clarified and explained clearly once again in the previous chapter. Which seems like very convenient timing to me.
@@Yodah97 It probably does, but Hisoka could have blocked the emitted aura that contained the manipulation command with his own aura. He theoretically could have resisted the punch even without already being manipulated.

@@mohabalserafe3795 I do feel like Hisoka would be smarter than being in the open like this. Something just tells me this is not Hisoka, at least from the perspective of this making the Phantom Troupe stuff something contained on 3rd deck and below and I think this would make this whole part of the arc a bit too disconnected from the main plot of the Princes and I think those two plots of Phantom Troupe on the ship and Princes need to collide at some point so it can be a narrative that doesn't feel as filler-ish and secondary. I personally still believe Hisoka is at the top of the Whale (possibly in Belerainte disguise) and what is going on right now may be Bolonevov being disguised as Hisoka to maybe make the mafias more into finding and killing Hisoka himself by attacking them (we know that he can disguise himself like this because he wanted to make a plan around it), Chrollo who uses this disguise by copying Bolonevov's ability for some reason or possibly Illumi as part of his deal with Hisoka. I think it would make sense in this instance because I think there is a reason why we never saw the answer about whether or not this is in fact Hisoka. And I think it would make sense if he was at top of the Whale because not only it provides nice parallel to Chrollo and him fighting at top of Heaven's Arena, but also will make both of those plots of Phantom Troupe and Princes collide at the top of the Whale, providing possible closure for Kurapika's hatred for Spiders and rematch of Hisoka and Chrollo and in this instance Hisoka is the one that prepares at the top and is waiting there to make the Troupe tired as they climb the Whale and have to go through literal army of strong Nen users to get to him. Then again it is just my speculation, but I think this would be the most logical way for this story to progress.
Not odd he just got serious and realised if he doesn't cut up he will really die this time. Chrollo out classed him, imagine what Feitan could have done and Hisoka wasn't even top five. Now he's probably stronger than them all tho.
I get the feeling that the explanation for how “goods” can be requested will be a major factor on the story going forward. I can see the services from a certain family be requested before the deadline… that certain family be ours favourite assassins family from HxH

@@mohabalserafe3795 I think it's still very possible, even if Illumi isn't even on board too. With all of these different character perspectives, it's difficult to tell the exact order of events as well as how much time has passed in between their POVs. It's entirelyl possible for Hisoka, a character with facechanging capabilities, to sneak away from Kalluto and go back down to deal with the Troupe at any moment. He should be able to easily move between ship tiers by just impersonating whoever he needs to.
I feel like the fact you can use post Mortem to pull people back in specific circumstances like a ghost. Imagine Kuripika dies and becomes a ghost that conditionally appears when the Troupe is together.
The needles he uses are real not conjured so it can’t be hidden with In. Remember manipulators are the ones who pour the most aura into objects. Just like Shalnark had his 2 antennae. And I believe that’s hisoka, he has no reason to disguise. He already said he would be attacking any spider he sees on the spot so why would he disguise as Illumi to be with the troupe.
@@BusayomiOla Either a) Illumi can hide his needles when he disguises himself or b) doesn’t need his needles to change his appearance. Back in Yorknew, Hisoka needed to slip out of the Troupe’s hideout without them knowing (around chapter 119). Illumi took his place disguised as him. They’d know it wasn’t really Hisoka if the needles were visible, hence the two possibilities I mentioned. In the anime, they expounded a little that Illumi can change his appearance without needles but that he can’t hold onto the disguise as long. It’s from the same scene in the anime. If so, it makes b) more likely.

The auction chapter was just to explain how Gon and Killua would escape. A ton of detail, but only a single point mattered in the end. I think that the same thing might happen here. The important point might not even be the delivery info, but the existence of the black market and general stores.
Just subscribed about 6 or 8 months ago, finally finished watching every single video in this channel. I love the sheer information given to us viewers for HxH. I hardly find any friends in my circles that has the same passion about story plots from anime. Specifically One Piece and HxH. And your reviews on Jujutsu are enticing me to read the manga as an anime only watcher for Jujutsu even if I spoiled myself so I'll wait for another 3 months to start reading because I'm just someone who forgets easily. I love your channel and will be going on new mission to finish your One Piece channel. 🤣 Bottom note, Hisoka is my favourite character in HxH, 2nd is Machi, then 3rd is Feitan. 🤭
I did not believe the illumi is hisoka theory simply because it has flaws but with how Hisoka returned, I feel like there's much more to it. I'm now thinking the two did a switcheroo or something or that there's a fake or 3rd party included. Hisoka is such a maniac he'll surely not play cleanly.

Its great because Nen isn't just about what abilities you have its about experience and knowledge to. These new Nen users don't realize how big the world really is and how fast you can sink. One thing that bugged be about HunterxHunter is that you rarely get to see a true "fight" between Nen users. Either someone is overpowered compared to the opponent or the conditions were met and you don't get to see what else they can do or how it squares up with other nen types and skills.
Even hisoka's Bungie gum isn't that much powerful or unique but was able to turn it in to one of the most dangerous abilities in the world of hunter hunter due to his intelligence and his fighting experience and that really says a lot about how a certain nen ability can work depending on the user and not just a random ass pull

I am a Binge reader, and I mostly Read books Over anime or manga, but I have a few manga i really love, hunter x hunter is my favorite story of any medium, and when i got all that conversation about why the info on there head quarters was logit i found myself glued to the panels till it was over only to be overwhelmed when meeting Hisoka/ Maybe Ilumi. great chapter.

Hisoka's kinda arrogant and with good reason. Bungee Gum is WAY too versatile of an ability, no one as of yet could break free from it once it latches on. Literally the only downside to the ability is if he has to fight a lot of people at once.

I like that he tells you how it works because that alone won't help you. He going to use it in a way you didn't see coming. He's a magician, so he sets the stage, and then baffles you.
many people said that hisoka was using his hatsu for hiding. specially like characters like: belerainte (ok ngl i thought that he is hisoka cuz he finish her dialogs with a little ❤) Illumi (well its logic thing that cuz illumi can use his needls for changed his apparence) Nasubi king (this theory was the most crazy that I never ever see in the hxh fandom)

I keep thinking of that time in Greed Island when Kalluto was hiding in the bushes and Hisoka spotted him, the other Spiders commenting that he's a freak of nature and unnaturally perceptive.
Sure, Hisoka isn't really trying hard with a disguise, he's just wearing a tracksuit and has his hair down, so he could be difficult to recognize from very far away or in a huge crowd.
But this is a huge ship with a lot of people, and I do think it's pretty safe to assume that if any Spider does randomly get in his vicinity, he would notice them, who aren't really wearing any disguises, before they spot him. I can only see Chrollo getting a drop on him.
I'm guessing the strategy here is to draw the spiders to the third deck. That would be why Hisoka is hiding but not really hiding. And you're right -- he'd likely be impossible to ambush without the use of some special ability to make it easier.
Chrollo is at a disadvantage vs hisoka if he’s not aware of him first. Chrollo isn’t Batman. He got captured by kurapika and outplayed by hisoka with texture surprise with his fortune, thus making the troupe split up cause he didn’t know it was a trick. Chrollo isn’t Batman. He can still be tricked and ambushed. Hisoka is at an advantage right now.
With so many characters searching for Hisoka throughout the ship it makes sense that Hisoka was found pretty quickly

Hisoka walking around just like that doesn’t invalidate the theory of Hisoke being disguised as Illumi among the Phantom Troupe. It’s not the first time the two have covered for each other and managed to deceived the Ryodan (Yorknew).

About the Illumi and Hisoka theory … I think it’s interesting that they mentioned Hisoka changing heights in this chapter.
I mean he has a prostetic foot now. I wouldn't put it past him to rip his other foot out to make height manipulation easier, and potentially improve his mobility.

Post mortem nen has always known to nen users, that's the reason why the Troupe didn't try to kill Karapika because they fear his post mortem nen would kill Chrollo. But I guess Chrollo simply refresh Hisoka on it
It is expressly tied to resentment. Hisoka is playing and enjoying his fight with Chrollo until he realizes he played around too much and is getting jumped. Having his fight stolen is what triggers Hisoka to use post mortem nen. It isnt exactly that he stole the idea from Chrollo, but close enough lol.

It's literally doesn't make any sense... like Illumi's face is much slimmer so Hisoka can't just put Texture Surpise on his face and suddenly make his face smaller (bigger yes by adding bungee gum but not smaller) , not only that what about the eyes... Hisoka will just put TS on his eyes or what. Also what about Kalluto... like Kalluto wouldn't be able to recognize his brother by behaviour or nen. That theory is just one big plot hole.

Just wanted to share an idea I had a few days after reading the chapter, everyone who lynch blindly punched with her ability in the search for Hisoka is essentially getting a Nen initiation and having their aura nodes/pores opened. So maybe we could expect to see the first people she hit for answers again down the line later in the succession war or even in the dark continent when they land

while I have always loved the Illumi is Hisoka (or Illumi is pretending that he is Hisoka pretending to be Illumi) theory ever since "Illumi" asked for a room with a shower.... it would also be a classic troll maneuver to have everyone on the Black Whale and the entire audience of HxH manically scouring the ship for people who may be disguised as Hisoka while he strolls around nonchalantly wearing his normal face. lol. Illumi can mimic Hisoka's look and mannerisms perfectly though so it would still be hilarious if they were both wandering around as each other (maybe even swapping rolls every so often for laughs). Then again, since Clark Kent can apparently just wear glasses and not be recognized as Superman, I guess Hisoka wearing his normal face is actually a disguise since so few people have seen his normal face :D
on a side note... while highly unlikely to be related characters, Zakuro's design especially when he is sweating bullets in front of Hisoka, reminds me of Sadaso's character design (that guy Killua threatened to kill in Heaven's Arena for kidnapping Zushi...)

the way togashi set this arc up is insanely good confined space with powerful nen users on many floors plus all the regular citizens the mafia an the princes , this arc does have the potential to be one of the best in manga history , nen itself as a power system is so incredibly well written

I feel kinda bad that all the spiders are being set up to be assasinated & wiped out, they're my favorite group, I hope togashi at least keeps 2 or 3 of them alive by the end of the arc preferably chrollo included, I'd love to see his journey of finding himself and reflecting on things & how he's gonna react to the dark continent & maybe even a plot line where the few surviving spiders give up on taking revenge & finding a new interest in the dark continent, completely changing the approach, I feel like hxh is exactly the kind of story to contain such shifts/ character developments.

If Meruem’s Character Arc is anything to go by I believe this could be done in the ways you allude to; as it has been done ohh soo exquisitely in the past during the Chimera Ant Arc.

Something I only just realised, Lynch's ability likely involves some form of manipulation in order to gain the info. As it forces the target to answer.
Meaning the reason hisoka didn't answer May be because he is under the control of manipulation already, perhaps because the 'illumi is hisoka' theory is true and they're doing a switcheroo and therefore it was actually Illumi who can't be manipulated as he's already manipulating himself. In fact this was actually clarified and explained clearly once again in the previous chapter. Which seems like very convenient timing to me.
Genius! I was wondering why the hell he had resisted the ability. I mean forcing the truth of someone *has* to require manipulation.
@@Yodah97 It probably does, but Hisoka could have blocked the emitted aura that contained the manipulation command with his own aura. He theoretically could have resisted the punch even without already being manipulated.

@@mohabalserafe3795 I do feel like Hisoka would be smarter than being in the open like this. Something just tells me this is not Hisoka, at least from the perspective of this making the Phantom Troupe stuff something contained on 3rd deck and below and I think this would make this whole part of the arc a bit too disconnected from the main plot of the Princes and I think those two plots of Phantom Troupe on the ship and Princes need to collide at some point so it can be a narrative that doesn't feel as filler-ish and secondary.
I personally still believe Hisoka is at the top of the Whale (possibly in Belerainte disguise) and what is going on right now may be Bolonevov being disguised as Hisoka to maybe make the mafias more into finding and killing Hisoka himself by attacking them (we know that he can disguise himself like this because he wanted to make a plan around it), Chrollo who uses this disguise by copying Bolonevov's ability for some reason or possibly Illumi as part of his deal with Hisoka. I think it would make sense in this instance because I think there is a reason why we never saw the answer about whether or not this is in fact Hisoka.
And I think it would make sense if he was at top of the Whale because not only it provides nice parallel to Chrollo and him fighting at top of Heaven's Arena, but also will make both of those plots of Phantom Troupe and Princes collide at the top of the Whale, providing possible closure for Kurapika's hatred for Spiders and rematch of Hisoka and Chrollo and in this instance Hisoka is the one that prepares at the top and is waiting there to make the Troupe tired as they climb the Whale and have to go through literal army of strong Nen users to get to him.
Then again it is just my speculation, but I think this would be the most logical way for this story to progress.
Not odd he just got serious and realised if he doesn't cut up he will really die this time. Chrollo out classed him, imagine what Feitan could have done and Hisoka wasn't even top five. Now he's probably stronger than them all tho.

@@mohabalserafe3795 I think it's still very possible, even if Illumi isn't even on board too. With all of these different character perspectives, it's difficult to tell the exact order of events as well as how much time has passed in between their POVs.
It's entirelyl possible for Hisoka, a character with facechanging capabilities, to sneak away from Kalluto and go back down to deal with the Troupe at any moment. He should be able to easily move between ship tiers by just impersonating whoever he needs to.

I feel like the fact you can use post Mortem to pull people back in specific circumstances like a ghost. Imagine Kuripika dies and becomes a ghost that conditionally appears when the Troupe is together.

If the Hisoka we saw in 392 is Illumi, could he have changed his face/appearance with his nen needles and then hide the needles with In?
The needles he uses are real not conjured so it can’t be hidden with In. Remember manipulators are the ones who pour the most aura into objects. Just like Shalnark had his 2 antennae.
And I believe that’s hisoka, he has no reason to disguise. He already said he would be attacking any spider he sees on the spot so why would he disguise as Illumi to be with the troupe.

@@BusayomiOla Either a) Illumi can hide his needles when he disguises himself or b) doesn’t need his needles to change his appearance.
Back in Yorknew, Hisoka needed to slip out of the Troupe’s hideout without them knowing (around chapter 119). Illumi took his place disguised as him. They’d know it wasn’t really Hisoka if the needles were visible, hence the two possibilities I mentioned.
In the anime, they expounded a little that Illumi can change his appearance without needles but that he can’t hold onto the disguise as long. It’s from the same scene in the anime. If so, it makes b) more likely.

The auction chapter was just to explain how Gon and Killua would escape. A ton of detail, but only a single point mattered in the end. I think that the same thing might happen here. The important point might not even be the delivery info, but the existence of the black market and general stores.
Not only that.
It also established a darker aspect to Gon’s character.

Just subscribed about 6 or 8 months ago, finally finished watching every single video in this channel. I love the sheer information given to us viewers for HxH. I hardly find any friends in my circles that has the same passion about story plots from anime. Specifically One Piece and HxH. And your reviews on Jujutsu are enticing me to read the manga as an anime only watcher for Jujutsu even if I spoiled myself so I'll wait for another 3 months to start reading because I'm just someone who forgets easily. I did not believe the illumi is hisoka theory simply because it has flaws but with how Hisoka returned, I feel like there's much more to it. I'm now thinking the two did a switcheroo or something or that there's a fake or 3rd party included. Hisoka is such a maniac he'll surely not play cleanly.

While some people complain about spoilers in RUclips thumbnails, I saw this before I read the chapter and just got excited to see Hisoka again
Its great because Nen isn't just about what abilities you have its about experience and knowledge to. These new Nen users don't realize how big the world really is and how fast you can sink. One thing that bugged be about HunterxHunter is that you rarely get to see a true "fight" between Nen users. Either someone is overpowered compared to the opponent or the conditions were met and you don't get to see what else they can do or how it squares up with other nen types and skills.
Even hisoka's Bungie gum isn't that much powerful or unique but was able to turn it in to one of the most dangerous abilities in the world of hunter hunter due to his intelligence and his fighting experience and that really says a lot about how a certain nen ability can work depending on the user and not just a random ass pull

Just a tiny correction about the prononciation of the Édith Piaf, it's pronounced "Pee af" not Pilaf (which is a type of rice I believe). Great video non the less!
