We’ve only ever goten locus wood a few times but I do remember it burned really hot . Definitely some big rounds ya had there to feed the axis .
It does burn really hot! The Axis made pretty quick work of them.

Hi, Locust burns like coal! My favorite. I think it has the highest energy content in North America, second only to Osage Orange, aka Monkey Ball tree. Shalom/gw PS I have several Olight torches. I keep one in my pocket. Great products:-))

Locust does smell burning also. I try not to send too much towards my neighbors. We did save a huge log and ran it through a sawmill with hedge apple. Both made some nice boards.
Axis does great with locust, made several cords last winter with mine.

HWM, great video. Locust looks like it’s heavy. I loved the end of your video with the golf ball hunting. I also live beside a golf course. I have probably collected 10,000 + golf balls over the course of 19 years. I found 31 the other morning alone. I sell mine to a miniature golf ball & driving range @.35 each. Pro v1 & 1x I get $1.00 each. TY for sharing your video. 😉👍

As far as the Honda motor, I would replace the plug wires with some good quality plug wires.

Heath, water in the fuel is our biggest problem, crack the screw on the fuel bowl on the carburetor first pouring it in to a glass this will allow you to see the water & other contaminates.

Locust doesn’t smell good but it makes excellent firewood. The axis handled it with no problems.

Somehow I haven't had occasion to process any Black Locust. If it smells as bad as you describe, I don't want to either 😅

Pretty firewood, that's rich. ha! As long as is it isn't punky. I seek the oak's and maples. Poplar is ok..., but it burns fast. Golf is suspect, I'd rather meet the fellows, skating and slap shots/wrist shots shooting at the rink!

Locust has a smell when it burns but not at all like when you’re splitting it.
I called on a 40% propane refill tank (through wall heaters-Fleet farm). Feel better if I was topped off. I'm told the neighbor doesn't give a hoot using his second driveway. And I have permission a year ago or more. It's hard to know how to be prepared for winter in Minnesota. I have wood and stoves. A lot of it is making sure your car can get to work. Like driveway, place to put the snow, and car in pole barn access (cold cranking amps). Toilet freezing to solid tank. ha! And setting up humidifiers for dry heat!!
Sounds too cold for me! I need to get the tank at camp filled too!

They are sound gear. We got them through my health insurance!

I had 2 Honda 13 hp engine and not one of them lasted 1 year I put a kohler on the same wood splitter 10 years ago and it still working great
