In this video, Levy Rosman did not, in fact, neglect the stare. He purposefully removed it to make the statement that all things are finite in this universe, and we should treasure the things we have and the people we love dearly.
I give this statement a 10/10 in lieu of the usual stare score

In watching a precious GTE vid, Gotham decried his sub for playing exactly this, saying "I don't know what Gotham Sub is doing. Maybe they think they're playing a Reverse-Vienna Gambit, cuz this is kinda like the Vienna, but this is 'poopy buns.' All this move does is lose a pawn. You can't play the Reverse Vienna; that's not how chess works." A year later he makes a video over this exact gambit.
I simply love the fact that we have additional video evidence of Gotham growing as a person. Love all of your vids, GC. (I also just happened to be watching older GTE videos (favorite series on YT, indeed) and recognized the structure of the gambit, having recently watched this video not too long ago.)

Here's a simple and delicious recipe for a classic banana and berry smoothie:
    Banana Berry Smoothie
    Ingredients:
    1 ripe banana
1 cup mixed berries (strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, etc.)
    1/2 cup plain Greek yogurt
1/2 cup milk (dairy or plant-based)
1 tablespoon honey or maple syrup (optional, for sweetness)
    1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
    Ice cubes (optional)
    Instructions:
    Prepare the Ingredients:
Peel the ripe banana and break it into a few chunks.
If using fresh berries, wash them thoroughly.
    Blend:
In a blender, combine the banana chunks, mixed berries, Greek yogurt, milk, honey (if using), and vanilla extract.
If you like a colder smoothie, you can add a handful of ice cubes.
    Blend Until Smooth:
Blend the ingredients until smooth and creamy. If the smoothie is too thick, you can add more milk to achieve your desired consistency.
    Taste and Adjust:
Taste the smoothie and adjust the sweetness by adding more honey or maple syrup if needed.
    Serve:
Pour the smoothie into a glass and enjoy immediately!
    Optional Additions:
Protein Boost: Add a scoop of protein powder to make it a more substantial snack or post-workout drink.
Nutty Flavors: Toss in a tablespoon of almond butter or peanut butter for added creaminess and flavor.
Green Boost: Add a handful of spinach or kale for a nutritional boost without altering the flavor significantly.
Feel free to customize the recipe based on your preferences and dietary needs. Enjoy your refreshing banana berry smoothie!

Just so folks are aware: After 4...e4 (around 2:20), note that White can actually play 5.Nd4! You might think that just blunders a knight, but taking it is a mistake because White has Qh5+ with a devastating assault on your king. I doubt many opponents will even see that, but I figured it's worth noting if you're going to begin playing this opening often. Cheers!

I’m a fairly new chess student, but want to make a point about bishop to G5. Pinning knights and taking is a (slight) sac for the sake of disrupting pawns. Blacks king side pawns were whacked at the open by pawn to F5 so the bishop sac is not necessary. Maybe the bishop would have been more useful on E3? Or a fianchetto since the light square bishop is also aimed at black’s king side and it’s really up to white whether the center gets opened. Idk.

This is one of my favorite openings against 1e4! I win most of my games against lower and higher rated players. There is a phenomenal line that ends the game quickly with this if they move queen to D2 to pin the pawn. You're spot on - first is black queen to e2 blocking the pin, wht knight goes back to g1, then black moves knight to f3 to protect the check....then if they try to attack the pawn on e4 by going pawn to d3, move the other knight to D5 attacking the queen, queen will move back to d8 and you just sac the knight and take the pawn on f7, if they take it with the queen, they lose the queen and the game in 2. :) Great vid! Thx for covering this opening - you showed me a cool variation I never saw (pawn to b5). Going to give it a go next time I can.

I'm glad I don't need to follow this advice any more, after a couple of good wins I am now rated 9,287 - I play a lot of the London system as white, and as Black I play the Einstein-Rosen defence that actually allows me to move my rooks (and sometimes a bishop) to the 0th or even the -1st rank behind white's pieces, it involves folding space and time, but once you've practiced it a few times, it is easy.

As black, what you need to know is that if white take the gambit, then after 4. e*f5 e5 there's 5. Nd4! sac the knight. This is the top engine move as well as a trap. If 5. ... N*d4? there's 6. Qh5+! which will eventually win a rook or the knight back, and deprive black's castle right. The correct move for black is 5. ... Nf6 defend the queen check right away and wait for white to trade the knight

I am proud to say that I found a very good that you could have played in the endgame against the 1800 player. When you go Qg4 check and he goes Kh1 ,you could go Rook to f3 threatening to mate in Rh3. And when he took the rook with his own you could take back with queen and do a double fork threatening king and the other rook .

I may be a bit late on this one, but I felt I should put this out there. I played against this in a recent game, and after I accepted the gambit, I played Nd4, and taking (which my opponent did) is a blunder and gives white a +2.5 advantage after Qh4+. Just keep in mind that if they play Nd4, don't take it, play normal chess.

A little bit of 1400 elo advice if they take the pawn on f5 and after you push and they play the move Nd4 don't take the knight and play Nf6 to cover Qh5 check and after then if they take the knight on c6 you can recapture with the pawn(both are fine take with the pan depending on what you want to do next)
If your opponent takes the knight and then you play Qh5+ and
    1. if g6 then take fxg6 and if they recapture take their rook and then Nxc2+ Kd1 Nxa1 Qxg8 and then you will win the knight on a1 soon or if they play Nc2+ instead of recapturing the pawn then Kd1 and if they take the rook or play Nf6 then Bf7+ Ke7 and Qe5#
    2. if Nf6 g7+ Nxh5 gxh8=Q Nc2+ Kd1 Nxa1 Qxh7 and you are threatening Qf7# and attacking the knight on h5 or if they play Nf6 after you promote to a queen trying to trap your queen you play Nc3 Nxc2+ Kd1 Nxa1 Re1 (trying to take the pawn on e4 with your knight and attack the knight on f6 and bring your queen out)
    a) d5 Nxd5 Nxd5 Rxe4+ Ne7 (if Kf7 then Qxh7+) Qxh7 and you have a very strong attack
    b) Qe7 d3 d5 Nxd5 Nxd5 Rxe4(Bxd5 is draw) Bg4+ and don't take the bishop with the Rook cz then its a draw so f3 Be6 Bxd5 0-0-0 Bxe6+ (Don't take with the rook cz then you ll be losing) Kb8 Bc4
In case, if you face me don't play Nd4 cz sometimes i forget and take the knight😉

I wish that Levy would have gone more in depth on using this against the Ruy Lopez since that is not only the better opening for White (according to Stockfish) but also more common for White. I feel that not being able to fork White's pawn and knight via d5 meaningfully alters the approach Black should take.
