My oldest is about to start 7th grade! This is seems crazy to me! But I really do feel like we have a pretty solid curriculum groove. Here's what we're using this upcoming year. You'll see some familiar favorites like Saxon and Sonlight along with a couple new choices!

I have a 7th grade boy this fall too! We're doing IEW structure and style level B year 2, phonetic zoo level B and fix it Grammer level 3. Math we're going to try math u see pre-algebra but might default back to Saxon 😆 then science he's doing masterbooks elements of faith (which we're counting as bible as well) and then history we're going to try masterbooks exploring medieval kingdoms! He'll also be doing guitar and mand labs electronics course as electives and some other random co-op classes in the mix

When my older daughter came to me to discuss body changes I felt werid about it and remembered that age but I still love it!!! My oldest is a boy so I heard it but we didn’t discuss body changes and I didn’t discuss the conversations that he had with my husband!!! My oldest told me that he loves how I encourage him with writing assignments!!! My freshman does family science and I get him to write papers on the topics!!!

Each age is fun and exciting in it’s own way but so much to learn too!

I’m new to homeschooling (started Nov last year) this year my kiddo will be in 7th. We’re using math mammoth, Shurley method for ela, and good and beautiful science (paleontology, marine biology, and mammals) for science I have a few workbooks but planning a lot of hands on and experiments. Thanks for sharing!!

My rising 7th grader will be doing SL ASP W. I am adding CLE reading because, unfortunately, we are required to test and SL reading didn’t hit all the concepts that they test. So his reading score was a bit lower than the others. I know, testing should not dictate our homeschool, but I would prefer he learns the literature concepts from a reading program and that his SL readers remain enjoyable reading that we discuss and not dissect.

My 7th grader will be using Saxon with Nicole and Spelling Workout too! We are trying Hake/Saxon Grammar & Writing for the first time this year. Hopefully it goes well as we have jumped curriculum many times for LA too!

I briefly considered that for language arts. I just couldn’t decide! Interested to know if you like it!

We used Hake / Saxon G&W for my son is 5th. It was a lot, but he actually really liked and he learned SO much. We took a break last year to focus more on writing, using Sonlight, and he still tested in the 99th percentile in LA. I think 5th grade Hake/Saxon rid very effective.

I love Spelling Workout! I look at it as spelling and vocab in one. I will have my first high schooler this year and I’m still going to have my 9th grader do cursive 😆 We are using Writing For Your Future Book 1. I’ve been eyeing Sonlight ever since I started homeschooling almost four years ago, but I’ve been afraid to take the plunge. I love to read and want my kids to love to read, but I still worry it’s too many books and too much reading at one time. I’ve looked at the samples and it overwhelms me. How do you keep them all straight when you’re reading like 3-4 books at one time? I’m used to only reading one chapter a day in our one read aloud. 😂

So far, how it works is we have 2-3 non fiction books for the year. We’ll read a chapter from one then read the corresponding chapter in the others the following days. So you’re really just learning about one topic (ie the building of the transcontinental railroad) but from 3 different texts so that it really drives it home and gives different details or perspectives. Then there’s just one fiction read aloud going at a time that is set in the area or time frame you’re studying. Not as hard as it looks!
