He screwed himself multiple times. At least 2 turns of copter loot were missed. And minimum two turn of loot with shorikai when he just sat there paying the tithe and refusing to play.
Agreed, for being a so called vehicle beatdown deck, I’ve never seen it so that in any of the vids. He needs to be more aggro with it if that’s what it truly is and isn’t a combo deck (which is what I’ve seen it play as normally). Maybe get in a few games with Krenko to get that aggro edge back into your gameplay.
Came for shigeki, happy with shigeki. That deck shouldn't be changed even after the counterspell machine that was the other deck... that's just an insane luck of the draw there and tbf you made 3 counters get focused on you. A feat in itself.
I once had plans of building Ephara with those blinking shenanigans... it played just as I expected here, with Shane drawing four extra cards every rotation.
@@DarkEinherjar That's real good right there. In my aminatou deck, I usually get my draw off of flickering creatures with card draw etb's and planeswalkers that can draw you a card off a loyalty ability like teferi, hero of dominaria.
Azorious control decks when they have access to 7+ mana can be brutal to play against. However, that Ephara deck was well put together goes to show why it's always a good thing to have a commander that can also initiate a card draw engine. Love the channel thanks for always blasting out gameplay!
Yeah this is one of those weird decks that almost feels like it’s crossing a line to not being really casual when everyone is prevented from playing the game at all. Even though nothing the deck is running is necessarily broken or actually unfair.
i don't inherently think a lot of blue interaction is awful aslong as it's like "your boardwipe is countered" or "no vorinclex" but yeah when you cast a spell for turn and mr counterspell says "ummmmm... lemme think" it gets so fucking annoying lmao also this may just be me, no mean to offend anyone, but i fucking can't stand blink decks. as soon as they get their wheels spinning it's people saying the same thing turn after turn only gaining advantage and you're hoping there's an end in sight

I'm not against a prison/stax deck like this, but the power level of that deck seemed well above the rest of the table. I could be wrong and it was just this game and draw, but it sure felt that way.
Yea that's why most flicker decks get hated on by a good amount of people. My old playgroup hated my aminatou deck because I had creatures with nasty ETB effects like Lavinia of the tenth and agent of treachery, and I always had a bunch of treasures since I have artifacts like bucknard's everful purse, treasure chest (it's a artifact from one of the D&D crossover sets that have different effects when you roll a d20), and of course smothering tithe. My two main win cons are approach of the second sun and the Magister sphinx/Wound Reflection combo. People hated how I always had ways of flickering lavinia to keep their stuff detained lol.
That vandalblast right when you started drawing lands really made me feel for you. While I love those prison/stax style decks, I never played mine often cuz people get understandably upset, plus that power level seems quite a bit above the rest of the table. Maybe I'm wrong and it just played out that way. I want to see more of Shigeki! He had some really cool loops going!
Agreed. For all the calls of “run more interaction” to beat them, the fact is that sometimes no one ever draws into it, unless you’re at cedh levels your deck isn’t going to be mostly interaction that you can draw, and it doesn’t matter when azorius stax sucks the life out of everything and hides behind a million counterspells like a bitch.
Im not sure if this has been pointed out yet, but on that activation of Shigeki's first ability at the beginning, the other 3 cards from the top of the library seemingly disappeared, and they are supposed to go to the grave.
I recently rebuilt my Ephara deck. I don't play it often as it gets a similar amount of salt . It has been sent into the bin of decks that come out when someone else is playing something equally annoying. Alongside superfriends Jhoira and Tergrid.
First time I see Andrew being so salty with his commentary :o That's understandable though, Shane's deck was nasty. I think I would have hated playing against that...
If Ben or anyone else running Shigeki reads this: I just looked at his decklist and cannot for the life of me see how the deck wins. Is it just waiting for massive mana + Kamahl to animate lands and pump them like crazy? I'd really like some insight because it seems like a cool commander!
It can win by kamahling all your opponent's lands and casting Ezuri's Predation to kill them all. Alternatively it can go infinite with Early Harvest, Shigeki, and Regrowth. Or just kozilek beats i guess. Though really you don't need a specific "win-con" if you can just make it so nobody can ever stick permanents in play (by casting All is Dust or Disking etc. every turn). Sometimes you can win by decking people too. Never really felt short on card draw since Shigeki is basically repeatable Praetor's Council. Deck is stronger than it looks on paper, Ephara is just tough to stop once it gets going.

Ephara do sucks to play against but now try that but with Yorion at the helm, I have a deck like that and I feel bad everytime I play it because as soon as my board is set up it's impossible to be beaten and it does everything every turn, truly a sight to not want to be in.

I love Shorikai. But since your version is quite unlucky, would advise to try a different version. See my comments from your previous Shorikai outing. My suggestion is a bit selfish, because I'm hoping to learn from you how to better my own Shorikai (tap/untap) deck.

Who doesnt love some boring old UW flicker control? It feels like such a waste of time playing those games since you basically know whats gonna Happen from turn three on, good on you for playing threw it. The mana screw on top is just the topping on the cake Thanks for the awesome content
I don't think it's fair to hate on the Ephara deck so much. I mean the deck is very well put together and Shane's plays were tight and efficient. Gotta be honest, wheni saw that Yorion hit the field with the flickerwisp, i knew the game was pretty much locked down. I play Shorikai too with more of a control/boardwipe theme. It gets so much hate but it's fun to try and squeeze out a win when there's 3 opponents trying to stop you.
I was wondering why people hated on it. Another Ephara deck from this channel 3 years ago piloted by Dom was well-received (the one with the Saltskitter skittering the entire game). I wonder if there is a lot of difference from how that deck is played.

God, I fucking hate Azorius for this reason. I understand people find this funny and others don't mind playing against it, but I personally find rather boring those kinds of decks that go: "Yeah, I'm going to play alone, and you can't do anything.".
My old playgroup had that same level of hatred for stax decks, which my best deck happens to be a Esper stax and life drain deck. They started playing more prosper decks because one stopped my nekusar deck from doing anything on turn 2 so they thought that the same thing would happen with this deck, oh how wrong they were. They got infinite life looped on turn 4 because i had a turn 4 bolas's citadel because i got a turn 1 sol ring into arcane signet, into turn 2 kambal, turn 3 played a rhystic study, then on turn 4 drew into the citadel, played my dark ritual into the citadel and proceeded to hit all my winning pieces and a mind's dilation, one of the opponents waited till the end step to try and blow up the exquisite blood with nature's claim cause that and sanguine bond were out but on the cast mind's dialtion and kambal triggers so i had the dilation go 1st and sure enough i hit a counterspell from the top of his library and use his own counterspell to counter his own nature's claim, then kambal triggered and everyone died. After that game, everyone was salty but me lol
Love the channel - did not enjoy watching the Ephara deck - kinda felt against the spirit of why I come to watch your shows. Let others play the game, not a fan - Keep up the great content tho Andrew! P.S Shigeki was going wild!
Kinda sickening to see nevinyrral’s disk countered 3 times in a row. Azorius colors are definitely the fun sapping combo. I also don’t get how you consider your shorikai deck a beatdown with vehicles one, not only do you rarely play them in most games I’ve seen it played, but the times you did win were through combos and not vehicles. Heck you rarely even cast shorikai in games even when you have the mana open, if you really are an aggro deck and not just boring azorius denial, use it to beat stuff down or do something besides draw and pass lol. Jmi, be more aggressive with it.
Almost guaranteed unless you have some specific crazy niche reason, it never gets shuffled into the deck during gameplay, so it helps it stand out and if you do accidentally shuffle it in post game, you can take it out easily without wasting a few minutes riffling through your 100 card deck.
I honestly stopped watching after 5:00, when Flickerwisp entered play. I had a Yorion deck for a little while and I know what a pain it can be for the table to wath the flicker player doing stuff every turn. It makes the flicker player taking about 80% of the playing time in the table and this not fun for anyone.

Sadly playing against that kind of deck can be really grindy and so tedious that you end up conceding out of sheer boredom

It seems like a fog till Kamahl deck. It doesn't do much otherwise, and lacks card draw. Seems pretty low power.

When I had my Shorikai, I never kept a hand that couldn't ramp or get into the value 4 to cast it on its own. Did you mulligan a lot or something?

What is the purpose of everyone sleeving their commander in a color different from their deck?
Almost guaranteed unless you have some specific crazy niche reason, it never gets shuffled into the deck during gameplay, so it helps it stand out and if you do accidentally shuffle it in post game, you can take it out easily without wasting a few minutes riffling through your 100 card deck.

I honestly stopped watching after 5:00, when Flickerwisp entered play. I had a Yorion deck for a little while and I know what a pain it can be for the table to wath the flicker player doing stuff every turn. It makes the flicker player taking about 80% of the playing time in the table and this not fun for anyone.
Blink decks are so cancerous to play against.
