A lot of people seem to want Gohan to be the main character of Dragon Ball Z or Dragon Ball Super. Potentially, to have started a new generation of Dragon Ball after his win during the Cell Saga and the death of Goku. While I can understand the sentiment, the biggest thing holding Gohan back from being the main character of Dragon Ball was and is his outlook on fighting alongside his personal goals in life. A lot of people seem to think that it’s ChiChi forcing Gohan to be a scholar exclusively, but Gohan himself chooses to be a scholar and that choice has always been presented as his own - ChiChi simply goes overboard with her pressuring him to study and do nothing else. So today I ask, What If Gohan wasn’t purely interested in scholarhood? What If Gohan trained like Goku? What If Gohan was more like Goku?

I do not mind Gohan wanting to be a scholar. What annoys me is how far he let himself go and how they handled him in a way that nullified 16's speech which was supposed to make him understand that sometines a fight is necessary since it as his destruction that pushed him over the edge.
No way he can be a scholar if there is nothing and considering his childhood, he houldn't have been complacent. If anything the buu arc should have fixed that issueto just make him keep up to shape at the very least.

I know right, like I understand why he’d want to get away because of all the trauma.
But he *_knows_* about enemies like Frieza and Cell who’ve threatened his family and friends, even the planet. It couldn’t hurt to _at least_ keep himself in shape, and not try to just scream it out.
It’s kinda like Piccolo said, he’s just psyching himself up for nothing.

After the Cell Saga, Adult Gohan tries to destroy his enemies (Cell Max).
It’s not that Gohan doesn’t want to fight, I think he would, just that his interest was what he focused on then training.
After Cell Saga, he was the strongest and I think he was probably confident which made him train less.
Not saying he doesn’t train, just not to an extent.
Gohan was made to battle were he wanted a different life.
However, currently, he does train and balance his scholar life (I think).
@@75JUNAKI Until Goku got back from space, he neglected his training. After Cell, Gohan neglected his training. After Buu, Gohan neglected his training again. After Frieza again, Gohan yet again did not train seriously.
How many times does Gohan have to watch people suffer and die before it "if I want to stop this, I need to put in effort" clicks? Anymore than once or twice is too much

I mean goku could actually survive this time and then we could a main character trio of goku,vegeta and gohan
i think gohan would have trained 2h everyday with vegeta and piccolo on seven years
that would been good balance for studying and training
so wakes up at 6am preps for 1 hr so starts study at 7am for like 6 hrs so thats 1pm trains for till 6pm
Zed Miller and then studies til 8pm again and sleeps
That’s just not practical for a teenager like gohan

I think of it like this, in real life there are those who go to the gym to stay in good shape and there are bodybuilders. The average person goes to the gym to stay in good health and maintain a good physique while also maintaining a good work life/school life. Bodybuilders though are extremely dedicated and want to push their bodies to new limits more than just being in good shape. That first option is where I believe Gohan would’ve truly stayed in order for himself not to regress over the next 7 years.
Gohan is ready both mentally and physically hopefully he can control the ooazaru form or maybe awaken icari

@GoDlyguy you say that but in dbs gohan went from the level he was in RoF to goku blue level extremely fast. Also you act like 2.5x isn't alot when it really is

@@vickywachen3547 Yes, but still only had Super Saiyan, after 1 year (After Future Trunks arc) is when he really put in the work. Now, after the exhibition is when he finally achieved Ultimate, and only had it for a day. I agree, he got to the level pretty fast, but keep in mind, it takes at least a year to surpass Goku, and that's close to constant training. Cell arc, Future Trunks arc, etc.

Definitely one of the best story telling so far for me. I liked this one a lot! Nice vid! Tho i would have liked Gohan's power level to be around 3-4k cause of the massive difference in mentality, situation and starting power level in the original series.

@@katusakirocks5630 Ultimate Gohan WAS stronger than Goku SSj3. Nomura said Ultimate Gohan was the strongest non-fused character.
Unless you mean in Super anime. The manga had Gohan taking on Kefla, who was as strong as a weakened (?) Goku. They both knocked each other out, so that counts for something.
Also, to original poster(In case he changes his name and anyone else who comes here) Gohan took 1 year of training to reach Goku's level in Android Arc. Keep in mind, Gohan probably didn't train much as Chi Chi wouldn't like it, and he'd probably think Goku could handle it. Yes, he went there, but he probably didn't get much stronger, probably a good bit, but nothing like in the RoSaT (Hyperbolic Time Chamber.) Also, potential only increases, and thanks to Ultimate, you can unlock it much faster than normal, Goku didn't go all out, he never used Kiaoken, but he's as strong as Kefla as shown in the manga if you believe in that.

Honestly the Great Saiyaman Saga is one of my favorite arcs of 'Z'
Gohan makes for a great protagonist, it is a tone shift but it doesn't really require any serious changes to Gohan's identity.
Academics (and later career) on the weekdays, serious training on the weekend. Considering Dende is able to modify the RoSaT the way he did in Super, if he did that right away Gohan could even use that for 5 days Academic alternated with 5 days of serious training. Aging ten days in 7 would have an impact on his lifespan in the long-run if repeated long enough though, so maybe he doesn't do that lol.

Gohan is definitely wiser fighting oriented, of course now instead of just studied for school he has actually fighting skills for the beginning of dragon ball z
I really life this what if, interested to see how effective the training is going to be, with piccolo training along with the Z Fighters it should make every other Z fighter stronger than what they were in the Saiyan Saga
I actually really like this don't get me wrong you make great what ifs but I was worried Gohan would lose a lot of his character I was actually completely wrong keep up the good work 👍 can't wait for part two

Something I never understood about the 7-year lack of training is that Gohan still had over a year of time in the Time Chamber at that point, before Super retconned the two years in a lifetime thing. Why didn't he just spend a few hours inside the TC each day over those 7 years in order to stay in shape? He only would have lost the equivalent of 1 minute in the real world each time he went in. Plenty of time to live his life and keep studying if that's what he really wanted, while getting stronger or at least maintaining the same power and conditioning from when he defeated Cell. Hell, I bet even Piccolo - who had about as much time left in there as Gohan did - would have been willing to tag along in order to make sure he didn't go crazy in there by himself.

So I just came up with an idea for the freezer arc and that would be to have 2 super Saiyan's against freeza after Krilin dies because Gohan should have a similar power to Goku and he knows Krilin even better than before and because Gohan isn't scared so freeza would almost lose but Gohan tries to play with him and Goku has to stop his son.

Carthu you said in the video Gohan started at a power level starting at 1 at 6:44 and then said Gohan here would be have a power level starting in 200s and at like 6:41 the panel where Raditz says "Power... Level... 1307...?!" So that means he gained a x1,307 boost so lowballing Gohans power here to 200, you would need to do 200 x 1,307 which is 261,400 and thats a lowball meaning a lowballed enraged Gohan would be able to oneshot Great Ape Vegeta when Gohan is 4 in this what if. NOW THAT IS CRAZY!!!
Not really, if that were the case Gohan would have the same multiplier effect while battling Nappa but that wasn't the case.

Nah, *Chichi* wanted him to be a "scholar" even though she doesn't really understand what that means. She just thinks it'll make him successful in life and not be an idiot like her husband. The moment i saw this pop up on the community tab, I knew this would be one of my favorite's of your what if's. I always wanted Gohan to just be relative to Goku. For example, having gohan be SSG level compared to goku's SSB during Resurrection F. Im seeing in the manga that he's been keeping up his training mostly the entire time (albeit slowly), I just wish he didn't end up in that sad spot in Super where his body can't even handle Super Saiyan for too long.
He got redemption from that, he's reclaimed his Ultimate Power and in that state in the ToP and beyond he's roughly SSBlue level

Yea no, Popo can contend with goten and trunks enogh to stall them for quiet some time. If at all, Piccolo should be scared of him instead XD And remember : Goku never even landed a single hit on him during training sooooo he is most likely bound to gods place and only could leave if god isnt around or no new one is apointed (as he did fly bulma to kami's spaceship) so he cant help them at all against the sajajin threat. And while he can compete against 2 child SSJ, he would still be no match for boo soo there is that.

if gohan was like goku, he wouldn't have unlocked ssj2 in the cell games because he was forced to fight, and all of his bottled up emotions wouldn't have exploded as it did. he was forced into fighting, and he never liked it. he only fought because he had to for the sake of others, like dende.
