Great suggestions :) Femininasty sounds so good, we do need laughter when we are trying to fight against patriarchy every day :)

Clementine Ford's book is just amazing. I mean it made me so mad. But it's also empowering and gives you a lot of pivots to take in disagreements with people who say 'okay but what about this??' Great to see an Aussie author on the list too. She has just written another, since she's a recent mum to a boy, called Boys Will Be Boys, about addressing this adage that we use, addressing how we need to look at the way we raise boys.

Well if you raised a boy, he would be. Structures of power man, it matters who tells and who listens. Read some Foucault if you need a man to explain. But mostly, I'm glad you seem to get it!!

You don't get it, do you? When did I say that? No we need to raise them with love. None of this "be a man, not a sissy, son" if he cries, just love, just like we do our girls. So that when he grows up he won't feel this need to conform to bullying male bravado and can make his own compassionate decisions instead of listening to boys-boys group think. If people feel loved and secure they're less likely to act like bullies, duh. Loving our boys won't make them "toxic" (why do you love this word?) or "soft".

And no I don't mean love in some religious sense, I realise now how that sounded, I'm not religious. But I had in mind little babes, so it's how we should treat our kids.

Oh fuck, hey, they will! Dang. Well, let's not bother. Let's be mean to little boys. I shall cuddle my daughter and not my son when he falls over. (Isn't this fun? Thanks for the laugh.)

If books empower feminists, more feminists should read books written by feminists. no? Sandra Camillo's "The Journey of an Invisible Woman" shows us that some feminists are more daring than others.

Turns out feminism backfired and destroyed the family and now they want more.
