Often called "the Florence of the South", Lecce is, by day a Mediterranean working class city. But when night falls, the lights cast a warm glow off the Limestone the Salentine Peninsula is famous for and casts a charm over the city that's hard to beat! Enjoy my travel channel!

In looking it up, it is described as both a city of "Apulia" and as a city of "Salento"...Is there a reason natives of the city don't like Apulia reference?
With Bari, Foggia, Brindisi, Taranto etc... Lecce is Apulia (administrative region) as well. “Salento” is the southern end and the citizens feel like (and consider it) detached from the centre/north region for manners, customs and traditions, it’s like a feeling of independence, plus there’s hate between Lecce and Bari (the two most important cities of Apulia, and conflict in soccer too) so yeah, not friends
(Unfortunately soccer is strong in italy, also a lot of people are easily influenced, soccer contributes to bring hate in certain ways)
Salento only includes taranto brindisi and lecce as important cities, brindisi and lecce have quite good relations, taranto is “neutral”
The Road Less Traveled in the past there were two populations that live in what we call Puglia nowday;Apulians(northern part of apulia so Bari,Barletta,Foggia ect...) and Messapi the population of Salento.These sere two very different populations with different cultures and uses.Also the language was different becasue of you compare our dialect for example Bari and Lecce these are very different!In conclusion Salentino is not Apulian
