Not even a mention of vegetal notes that would definitely be present in Cab franc. Plus acidity was higher than he stated for sure. Sorry but based on his description I would have never guessed Cab Franc.
I also couldn't get to Cab franc based on the description. I was actually getting to Merlot. However, I will say some CF does go way off from the usual expectations.
This one got me too, from the descriptors as someone who works with cabernet franc in the vineyard and winery I make wine, I would never have guessed cab franc from the gaminess and the other characters were out of place for cab franc and the lack of vegetal or pyrazine characters in the descriptors he gave threw me way off. I was thinking mourvedre or tempranillo.
Yes I think he described the nose well albeit very Mediterranean. The Central park allusion had me thinking of the kind of specific minerality I find in Loire cab franc, but the palate description had me off too, finally went to Rioja or even a ripe structured pinot noir. I think he maybe didn't gauge tannin levels correctly, he said he didn't normally pay attention to alcohol so maybe he's more of a nose taster in general...
absolutely hilarious. totally pretentious and 'curse cause it's cool' rambles on about juniper berries on the side. couldn't even get the grape variety right. pure gold.
As if the Somm community doesn't already have a problem with being perceived as pretentious and weird, now we have to deal with potty-mouthed, narcissistic, self-important, "edgy", crazy-haired, hipster douches. . Thanks for letting us know what we have to look forward to in the next generation of Somms, SevenFifty...
Paul Grieco is quite one of a kind. I wouldn't say that he's a good representative of average somms. The fact that he missed by that much is probably because of the acidity call and the fact that the wine is in a natural wine style.
Coolest one yet. Just WOW. Love the description of the length.
One of the most entertaining wine personalities out there.. Can’t wait for his place to open back up again and shower in some Riesling.
This is great! I expect nothing less from Paul Grieco!

Rumor has it if you fill his cup with your cars oil he can tell you where the car is from if it’s a new world or vintage car, year, make, and model.
Lmao he was mad confident

And add to that his mispronounciation of Vacqueyras and Gigondas.

Totally! But I don't know whats more hilarious. Your comment or his performance.
