Roger Waters brands Bono ‘an enormous s**t’ over speech on Israel

- U2 frontman Bono has been slammed by former Pink Floyd bassist Roger Waters for comments made about the Israel and Hamas war during a gig.
The band was performing at the Las Vegas Sphere when Bono, 63, addressed the fighting in Gaza, which has been raging since October.
Earlier this month, Israel’s officials ordered Palestinians to evacuate the last ‘safe zone’ filled with 1,500,000 refugees living in tents.While performing at the new venue, Bono told the crowd to ‘shut up’ before launching into a heated speech on how religion can ‘enrage us’.He shared: ‘To see what the children of Abraham have been doing to each other all over the world for millennia as well as this very day… It’s bewildering to see the suffering of Palestinian children after we saw the suffering of Israeli children.Bono of U2 performs onstage

The frontman continued: ‘In the light of what’s happened in Israel and Gaza, a song about non-violence seems somewhat ridiculous, even laughable, but our prayers have always been for peace and for non-violence.
‘But our hearts and our anger, you know where that’s pointed. So sing with us… and those beautiful kids at that music festival.’
This was in reference to the first major attack by Hamas on October 7, 2023, which killed 364 civilians at the Supernova Sukkot Gathering music festival.
Additionally, Bono changed the lyrics of Pride (In The Name Of Love) and sang: ‘Early morning, Oct. 7, the sun is rising in the desert sky… Stars of David, they took your life but they could not take your pride.’
Never shying away from political statements while performing, the Irish singer added: ‘When love looks laughable, I am sure that it is the devil laughing. I understand how ridiculous “love thy enemy” sounds right now.

This was 4 months ago.The assault on Gaza took place after a few hours, so not sure how much he could have known. I still think that people who are outraged at the Hamas attacks but cannot be just as outraged at what is happening in Gaza are hypocrites

Bono was merely saying what he's always said: to pray for everyone and stand up for victims -- no matter which "side" they fall on. In this case both sides. He wasn't defending terrorist activity by Hamas, nor was he condoning Israel's method of response to the attack. Anyone who pays attention to what he said could clearly see this.

Bono used to have something good to say, once. Roger is an actual activist, using his platform to try and change things. He doesn't have to by any means. There's no one else with his level of fame that is putting himself out there like he is. Bono could learn a whole load from him.
