Steven Wilson is building upon an already phenomenal catalogue with this album! The sound is relevent and futuristic and to me, it belongs perfectly in a dystopian cyberpunk world.

Actually the two techniques are pretty different. "Cry" used cross fades, an analog mixing of the two faces on film. I would bet that "Self" is using DEEPFAKE technology. Kinda like motion cap, but the computer is taught how to create a celebrities face by studying thousands of pictures of them at different angles. The computer basically then makes a 3D model of the celebrities face, with multiple angles and expressions. Then the models face, in this case Wilson's, is mapped, his eyes, his mouth, the way it stretches, everything is mapped. Finally, you film the model, and then the computer can over lay the celebrities face, their eyes mouth, on top of the models, and use the model's performance to instruct the celebrity face what to do. I might be wrong, but if it is a deepfake, its actually super complicated and sophisticated visual effect. Pretty original. The attention to detail and the fact that I bet Trump didn't show up on Steven Wilson's music video shoot proves that this is more than what "Cry" did. Not to mention using David Bowies face, a man who is sadly dead. SW could have used anyones face, where as Godley and Creme were limited to who they could physically shoot. Major differences despite the similarities on the surface.
