I always like listening to Brandt. He just exudes calm intelligence, which is not that common in sports commentary. Pair him with Eisen and that's an interesting conversation no matter what they're talking about.

Can someone explain why college athletes can't get paid . Not from the University just get accept from money

Major Hockey in Canada is the model. Somebody needs to form a Professional Football Players Association and get College Players unionized. College Football is pro football lets be honest here the revenue generated speaks for itself.

The healthiest thing for this country would be to separate athletics and education. Then force the professional teams to fund all "minor league" athletics. They are the ones that benefit from the college feeder system. Let them pay for it.

3 HoF QB’s & 1 Hall of Very Good QB in the last 60 or so years is something Bears fans can only dream about.
But I do understand why Packers fans are upset b/c Rodgers is better now than Favre was then, & it wasn’t like Love was a top 2 pick that fell into their lap; the Packers TRADED UP to draft a 2nd/3rd round QB project when they are constantly 1 game away from the Super Bowl & have never drafted a skill position player in the first round while Rodgers has been the starter.

If they separate Football and Basketball from other sports other sports will go away.

99% of all women's sports and all other creative artistic sports are subsidiary of football and basketball. Even in some region baseball teams will have to go if players get to large a piece of the pie. .
So nomore gold or lacrosse. No more track and field its not profitable.
So its far more to this than just the players it feeds alot of Americans .

It probably won't get that dramatic. As Brandt said, it's going to be a 2 tier thing. The Alabama's and Ohio States will run pro-football programs but they make so much money they will be able siphon off the relative pittance it will take to fund at least some kind of actual amateur sports. Many schools aren't going to be running these pro style football and basketball programs though. They will specialize in other sports (track, soccer, etc.). And your average school isn't going to be paying anyone beyond regular scholarships and maybe stipends like they give to grad students who teach.

I think the NFL will eventually lower the age for players when their free farm system is gone. Might even open an opportunity for another league to recruit younger players.

I don't think college athletes should get paid more then minimum wage. They should get vouchers and minimum wage to cover their time paying and practicing that keeps them from working for pocket money, any thing more then that will negatively effect the draft process into the NFL and get more players in trouble before the draft, it's too tempting having that kind of money in a college party setting

he came out to LA specifically for your show, Rich, not because he was already there visiting his son (loved how he opened with that explanation lmao).
andrew is a guy i normally disagree with and sometimes can't stand, but i'd be lying if i told you i don't like listening to him. he's got a great (ASMR) voice and he explains things well...andrew just arrives at the wrong conclusions too often and he's too smart to get away with being inconsiderate of the lil man
