As always, have a twitching day y'all!
I'll say this. The CEO needs to go. He had made so many poor choices for the studio. Leaving Twitch for Mixer. Pushing terrible changes to Realm Royale, killing the game. Pushing huge investment into mobile games(which all failed). Not giving Smite proper focus(moving it from UE3 to 4). Not properly supporting or encouraging content creators for years. He is also part of the reason Smite had poor server stability issues since he insisted they host their servers with INAP. INAP was known throughout the industry for poor reliability, but he refused to move since he was buddies with executives at INAP. I would see it as a huge red flag when a company keeps struggling to earn a new win under the same management. Laying people off is him admitting that he's failed as a leader, but won't take responsibility as one.
10000% this guy' has been lead to so many obvious and blatantly stupid mistakes that have hi-rez into being a failure that is barely alive. Both smite and paladins could have been market leads if they made smart decisions and actually improved their games. Hi-rez has always had bad management and it shows.
THIS EXACTLY.
I said this exact shit on reddit, this man doesnt add much and his decisions are out of touch garbage. He likely has single handedly ruined every single game Hi-rez has put out.
lol lets layoff a lot of employees so we can host a 300K tournament for a new game not ready for tournaments
Tbf that 300k was probably already allocated awhile ago and can't be touched for stuff like this.
@@mercurialfunkit should've went towards development not a tourney for a fucking alpha game
@DestroAzureDx An alpha game they need to succeed. There's no guarantee that money would have saved these jobs or been used effectively, dont be daft.
At least we know where that money is going to for the tourney, the players.
@@mercurialfunk i suppose. Fact stands developing a tourney likely was a waste of time and didnt improve interest in smite 2 in its unfinished state.
@mercurialfunk they could have held a tournament for a lot less than 300k. That's a lot of money for a tournament no one is really interested in because of how boring the game currently is at the moment. I don't care about the jobs being cut that's a fact of life it happens all the time, but the 300k is a waste and isn't help improve the game or bring interest to the game. Bad business decisions which hirez is know for just like how they put all that money into realm tournaments then didn't have money to develop the game anymore
Oof! I like it when Incon spills the tea! 🎉
Ya there company is going bankrupt this is the natural progression with a company trying to keep it alive it’s not gonna last longer unless u rehaul the whole company witch doesn’t work for the community
If his paycheck doesn't say $0.00 he isn't taking responsibility.
"It was my fault and responsibility... now excuse me while i keep my CEO salary as i fire you"
Tldr of Stu's grovelling:
- We announced Smite 2 way too early. In doing so, we put Smite 1 on life support, deleted the pro scene, and changed what was a slow decline into a rapid freefall.
- We exacerbated this by repeating the exact same mistake by putting the alpha 24/7 way too early. This set expectations with the playerbase of it being not far off the quality of a full release game.
- We knew Smite 2 wasn't close to ready to be fully released, but we treated alpha testing like a proper game instead of sticking to 'alpha = TESTING, testing = short bursts of availability like PTS cycles' and now everyone is bored of Smite 2 because it doesn't yet have enough content to be playable 24/7.
- This is my fault, was very predictable, and completely out of the hands of everyone except senior management. But I'm going to drop the consequences on everyone else and avoid any consequences myself and tbh probably get a pay rise next year but it's okay because I said sowwy. Cope
What a wonderful example of corporate leadership.
4:04 unless he’s saying that his poor leadership means he should’ve fired them earlier
Thanks for confirming that I made the right decision in refunding my founder's pack to play Deadlock. Done with the deadbeat dad that is Hi-Rez. Look at what they did to the Tribes community, and know they will do that to you in a heartbeat if SMITE ever stops being worth it to them.
Can’t wait to see all of the ex employee interviews. I’ve seen some of ex paladins devs do some over the years and God I don’t know how that company still exist. Probably because the paladins community is nonexistent, but if those interviews got tractions. Hirez rep would fall even more which there basically already at rock bottom.
yeah pretty much the reason why all companies are dogshit now, management is never held accountable for anything... They just blame the lower people for their mistakes, but shit runs downhill if there's shit all below it's all shit above. It's not like they had bad developers or casters or anything either... Just managed absolutely horribly, like smite is my favorite game as far as how it felt to play gods/characters... How their kits functioned and mastering them thousands of hours in when you understood all the little details of every god. Like i still don't know why the fck smite doesn't just have surveys for better matchmaking, like if you want harder games fill out a survey and if you don't give a crap don't then match the people with the closest levels of game knowledge together... Simple asfck, and can get people who don't understand what positioning and other basic things is out of matchmaking with people who played for 1,000s of hours of mastering those basics. - Or like tunnel vision, people who understand what tunnel vision is and accidentally do it are entire leagues better than those who just run it down chasing the first enemy to get baited to death. - or baiting fck i can keep going on and on with basics that people are completely oblivious too, but people who don't understand what baiting is getting absolutely manhandled by anyone patient who does and they usually cry "ohhh they are terrible all they do is run away" >.>
They announced smite 2 way to early tbh. They should of waited at least another year or 2 before announcing it. I have been playing since the xbox beta so around mid season 2 and this is first time i have myself just lost all motivation to play. The game has just not felt the same since the smite 2 announcement.
This is the second biggest L in Smite history.
Right after Incon tried to report Genetics for Anhur support
😂
Really unfortunate for a lot of people that lost their jobs.
@@GWFarma not only that these content creators that are bound by these viewer points system are going to sink with the ship
I was a pretty heavy Smite 1 player, even put some money into unlocking skins and characters and all that. Was even a Tribes: Ascend player who put money into *that.* I loved it!
Then I played a Smite game with a dude with an extremely Nazi name. I reported this to HiRez multiple times and I never, EVER heard anything back. Never got any confirmation that any steps whatsoever were taken. Moreover, when I posted this to the community, the majority of comments weren't "Oh wow, that's really bad." It was, "The Nazi played better than you."
I haven't played one game since, and I have no plans to spend a penny on Smite 2.
HiRez simply burned that bridge with me.
Thats so weirdly specific and has nothing to do with game or people managing game
Yea this was an L post. This really has nothing to do with the topic and you're being offended at the internet being the internet. People made you quit a game, which is what they wanted. You seem like you're far too sensitive for the internet.
@@jetsettech8804 I mean, sure, you're right. Pointing out HiRez's failure to provide basic-level moderation as a gaming company is totally unrelated to their current inability to turn a profit on their game.
It's not as if Hirez needs players to want to play their games or anything.
Totally unrelated.
Meanwhile, might I add, your post basically accepts Nazi bullshit as part of the world, as opposed to having any inclination that maybe the gaming company failing to turn a profit should stomp that out. Weird.
@@FrostPDP I didn't accept anything. I told you how it is. It's the internet. It will keep happening. If everything on the internet bothers you, then leave the internet. Something in the game bothered you? Leave the game. Don't cry about it on a video unrelated to it.
@@jetsettech8804You know what? You're right. You're telling me how it is: HiRez is fine with Nazi behavior and refused to do its job for game moderation. I shouldn't advocate for change or anything. I should be quiet. Let the Nazis have the game.
That's what you're suggesting, isn't it?
So isn't that accepting Nazis instead of fighting them? Again, weird how you're so okay with that.
But NO WAIIII does the loss of paying players have anything to do with HiRez having financial problems, right? Those things are unrelated!
(In case you can't tell through the sarcasm: Why shouldn't Hirez do basic moderation of suggestions about how to murder Jews, especially if it costs them players?)
The problem is smite 2. It's dead in the water lost a lot of the player base which was already tiny when they didn't transfer players skins that they paid cash for over from smite. Tbh smite 2 is 5 years too late the game is a shit show. Same problems as its predecessor bad matchmaking it won't survive a year. Hi rez are hoping thousands and thousands play it's not happening....
At this point, i expect a hi-rez bankruptcy or being bought out by a larger company.
I really like smite at one point but when u copy and paste a game. Then release it twice in a garbage state. Then have terrible marketing. And from what I get from all this is that there surprised what there doing isn’t working when it didn’t work the first time
It's like what happend to CS:GO they launched CS2 twice as bad.
No PRO player has gotten the global elite so far(the highest rank) because of cheaters.
C.R.A.Z.Y golden age of games has gone. Now we either gonna have really good games from now on , or everybody gonna sell their PC's.
What marketing do you expect? It's a close alpha, it doesn't need any marketing yet.
Paladins has 4600 peak players right now XD, I'm not sure you should be betting all your money on Smite 🤣
I've been long waiting for the day this game fails. I hope it fails and the awful community it fosters.
It’s funny because people who are saying the doomsayers doomed when in fact leadership ruined the game and their strategy failed
Its a common occurance for thier ceo to do dogshit choices to ruin thier games
Damn haven’t started the video and I’m concerned
Why would they release a game with 20 freaking gods man they should have waited at least a year to announce the game. Should have started with 50+ gods right off the bat.
people are laid off, many losing their livelihoods and you're talking about the number of gods.
Its like the jobs at question are directly reliant upon the game. @alotofhoopla7624
For potential new players.
I haven't played Smite since December 2020, so I know I haven't contributed much to the game company. I forgot exactly "why" I stopped playing, but I'm naturally a very casual person, with a very-easy chance to get angry at something. I spent 2,200 hours playing the game (which isn't a lot compared to most), and naturally I took many breaks from playing it. Once I was able to spend my own money on the game, I did it every so often. I didn't pour ungodly amounts into something like the Odyssey events or anything, but maybe once every 2 months, if that.
It's not that I didn't have fun in the game; I'm pretty sure I did. It's just the amount of times I was having fun was outweighed by the times I was getting angry at/in the game, so I had to cut myself off from playing it. I do still watch Smite content creators playing the game, because they just scratch that itch for me.
Loved the breakdown, Incon.
They can't even make the game run on my pc , they have no idea how to fix it. I reinstalled the game windows etc , nope. The game just wouldn't launch. It would launch in the 32bit version for some reason , loads of people used 32bit version because 64 bit just wouldn't work. But they removed 32bit and now nobody that has my issue can play the game.
Even though I don't really care , as I am playing a bunch of singleplayer games nowadays..
For the last two years, I spent almost no money on smite (just purchased the founder's pack for S2). I was quite disappointed with the pricing system, and with the announcement of S2 and a very sloppy alpha, i just didn't feel like spending more time on the game.
Layoffs are a clear indicator of both business troubles. Both leadership greed and inability to hit revenue targets.
Best of luck to the employees who lose their jobs, and I guess good luck Smite, your fate is shaky and unknown.
This makes me so sad. I have more time in smite than any other game I have played. 1,000+ hours. I was so hype for SMITE 2 but they are just fumbling the bag hard. If they even make it to the F2P stage I'll try it. But I feel like its going to be a huge mess by then and not worth. Been playing a lot of Pred lately so I guess thats the new game for now.
It is so sad because so few games capture my love like smite. Don't get me wrong the game has lots of problems and over the last couple years has been frustrating but man the core of smite is just something I want so bad and I have yet to find anywhere else.
Stewart basically said "Some of you may die, but that is a sacrifice I am willing to make"
That second paragraph breakdown 😮
You got me good with the lmfao on that one.
It's a games company - either it has games that make money or it doesn't and HiRez doesn't. Smite 2 is the hail mary but it's unlikely to take off, lets be honest. HiRez are in deep trouble and will go under in a year or two. You can't just blame the CEO either - it's hard to make a game that takes off, and HiRez tried several times to make another successful game, I am sure everyone worked really hard, but it just didn't happen. It's just life in a capitalist system.
Are the the CEO using a different account? ;)
How the fuck is the CEO still there, what the actual fuck
This isn't fair incon...need better analysis
I liked Smite but honestly their reporting/ban system sucks. Some toxic enemy players spam reported me because of Weak3n. That dude was mad cause me and my buddy focused him and said we were stream sniping, which we weren't. Just kept ganking him lmfao
Sounds like you were playing like a goofball then, can't be surprised
@@jamieeddolls5605 Playing the game like its meant to be played? LOLwe were nezha and fenrir tho he had no chance either with no escape
@@freeq1829 spam gank the streamer isn't how the game is supposed to be played ya dork, you sit there giddy in your seat and your team sits there losing
@@jamieeddolls5605 there's no rules against ganking a streamer. I can gank them all I want. And yes it was fun. As for hi rez, it's good they're laying off a bunch of idiots. Their support team is garbage
@@jamieeddolls5605 but would you spam gank their best player?
All companys "trim the fat" from time to time
Was the expectations not for the Gods to be implemented 2 per week originally?
It was announced too late, they werent very clear with plans for smite 2 and launched alpha way too early.
The issue is that people want more gods, its literally the only content to mess around with in smite 2
3:58 when you get a bad team comp 😂
Smite 2 killed careers....wow
Tina.... 😥
Smite 2 is ass
Smite 2 doesn't have a high player count. It wasn't needed at all
Why are you expecting a paid closed alpha to have a high player account?
@@dragonhero14 That’s not even the issue. The issue is Smite 1 had their population cut in half upon the release of Smite 2. Smite 2 retained roughly 1/12th of their player base since release. So smite 1 population being cut in half, no new content, in combination with smite 2 being a complete bust, it’s looking grim.
Yes this is GREAT NEWS because the management teams has been operating poorly with their basement servers that always don’t working ❤
Ben
Incon is such a doomsayer over smite 2 holy shit.
go woke go broke
Hey look everyone. An idiot! Point and laugh!
Hahaha
How is Smite 2 woke?
