    Super cool video, being into electronics the solder I understand easily why you're choosing one solution over the other. Very well explained. I might give it a try, although the grinder I would first try manual.

    Thank you for making this video! Very clear explanations and well-spoken, and very informative. It's a great introduction and I appreciate the detail you went into especially on the upkeep of the tools- too many people just show a tool and then link where to get it, but don't actually tell you how to clean/treat it so it stays nice and new. Thanks for sharing what you know!

    WOW, what a great instructor! After watching your video, I feel like I can jump in and roll with a project. Question: I can't find the solid zinc or flexible edging. Hobby Lobby doesn't carry it. Thank you soooo much for sharing your talent and creating such an appealing demonstration on how to get started! Also, I looked on eBay and can't find a foil machine - suggestions?

    • @AlleyPicked
      @AlleyPicked  4 года назад

      Hi Leah. Thanks for your feedback. The supplier I bought from is no longer in business but there are many online retailers including Amazon. The flexible edging is on Amazon and here's a link: www.amazon.com/64-Round-Lead-Hobby-Came/dp/B00JMH9FLM/ref=sr_1_8?dchild=1&keywords=lead+came+9%2F64+flat&qid=1596292582&sr=8-8
      The foiling machine is: www.amazon.com/VGCE-LGDF-Diegel-Stained-Foiler/dp/B007G8CNDQ/ref=sr_1_1?dchild=1&keywords=stained+glass+foiling+dispenser&qid=1596292792&sr=8-1
      You can probably find a cheaper foiling machine but the one I listed is very good.
      Good Luck!

      Glad to hear you are interested! If you buy everything new you will spend under $100. However, the glass grinder is really important and those can cost $100-$250. You can find used ones also. When you're really into a hobby people who don't know what to give you will sometimes try to pick tools or supplies as a gift. Unfortunately, if you spend so much time on a hobby that people want to give you stuff related to it, you probably actually have all the tools you need. Or at least, all the cheaper tools. You notice in the video he said he hasn't really used any of those items he said were gifted to him.

    • @AlleyPicked
      @AlleyPicked  4 года назад +2

      That is s very good question. While I am not a scientist my understanding is that there are really only two ways lead can get into our bodies. You can ingest it and you can inhale lead dust. You CANNOT get it through your skin. The particles are far too large to pass through the skin barrier. However, if you still are uncomfortable, you can wear a mask and gloves. Hey, we are all wearing masks anyway :-)
