As a Brit I have to say Annaleigh's accent is offputting, but she gave it a damn good go. That aside I am buzzing to see her do this live, seems like she's absolutely killing it, along with the rest of the amazing cast!
I am pretty sure she’s doing it off putting intentionally. To make Miss Lover’s character even more questionable. She’s done a British accent/dialect before successfully.

@@CynicalCharmer Not the same thing, though. Generally they do a very camp version of cockney. Her's is flitting between about 5 different things & doesn't really sound like anything :/ It isn't her fault. She should've had better support.
Despite the wacky accent I LOVE her version of Mrs Lovett, she really made it her own. Together with Josh they are just a dynamite duo, I want to see more shows with them.
I've seen Josh and Annaleigh just one day before they are singing off Sweeney Todd. They were phenomenal and Annaleigh owned the stage. Thanks Annaleigh for showing me a new Lovett.

Agreed. I’ve never understood why people cast her as Brits.

I find it incredibly off-putting as well - her accent slips in to some sort of Swedish mix... it's... distracting to say the least.
Saw this Saturday. Josh was great but Annaleigh was fantastic.

I saw this in New York…..she is really subdued in this video…She was absolutely hysterical on stage……….She jumped, rolled around, just brilliant!
She was all over the place physically. This is extremely subdued. One word: Stairs. 😜
I thought she was terrific! Oftentimes the most effective character portrayals occur as a result of going against, not with the music. Bravissima!!❤
