Hi, thanks for doing the video, just did this mod today among many others. It occurred to me that some of the struggles involved with this operation are due to the shock being in the way. I had my shock out (to install a new spring). This leaves full access from the right side of the bike. The shock is very easy to remove. If you attack it from the back side it’s a 5 minute operation, very little struggling. I didn’t remove the reeds. I simply pushed it out from the backside. Put a little grease around the lip and pushed it in from the left side while guiding the throttle body section onto the throttle body from the right side. Ensure it’s fully seated on the throttle body and then grab the top and bottom corner away from the air tube and push in and down, in and up respectively and it simple seats. Wipe the grease from the shock side and clean the edges up. Secure the the throttle body clamp and you are done. Reinstall the air filter.
For anyone doing an air boot swap on their KTM/ GAS GAS ect, I found taking the muffler side number plate off really helped lining up the grooves. Also steal your wife’s hair dryer to make the boot more flexible. This is not easy but it can be done with patients
I think I’d just remove the reeds instead of replacing the boot. They can be reinstalled according to what I’ve seen on the web and supposedly there’s no performance difference between the European boot and stock unit once the reeds are out. I plan on leaving my reeds in on my 2023 500 for now. I want the bottom end grunt. I’m just starting to mod my bike with the 02 delete , EJK and end cap .
Nice, there is almost no noticeable power loss on the bottom end with the reeds out. And no power gain gain or loss with the o2 delete.other than that the bike will rip!
@@adventureswithkatem I’m removing the 02 sensor as it will fight the EJK to richen the AFR. Supposedly just removing the 02 sensor and adding a bung to trick the ECU will richen the mixture until 6000 rpm’s or so.
Yup, a dude I ride with has the same piggy backer and did the same,if you watch my rid first ride after the mod vid. The guy is on a 450, and has the pro billit end cap, thing rips!
@@adventureswithkatem I originally wanted a replacement ECU. But figured I’d go with the EJK for now with basic mods. I’m not a hardcore racer and the bike stock has a lot power as is.
I took my reeds out of my 22 500 excf and didnt notice Any difference in performance. The only thing I noticed was the first time out. The intake was louder right at first but then I got used to it right away. Those who say it has more vitamin Grant I don’t know I didn’t notice no difference.
I get a small amount of oil around the crank case breather hose (not enough to leak out of the air box). It’s not the air filter oil. Just wondering if anyone else experiences this? I get more when I ride more wide open desert with higher RPMs.

Thanks for watching, check out my other videos, I've done other mods as well.
You did it! Good job man, you grew fast!
You can remove bottom screws to swing the subframe up a bit. Then you don't have to worry about the intake alignment.

Yup,good advice
Did you upgrade the ecu or add a tuner? curious to do the same thing on my bike but i dont want to run to lean.
Yup,look at my other videos, I do a unboxing and install vid of all my upgreads

Now one thing after you do the mod, is you’ll be running much leaner than before, so you’ll need to figure out how to richen the fuel mixture.
Yup, that can is done on the map switch

Me too, nothing to worry about
