The best person to help a vet is a fellow vet
"The AO is clear"
"I was downrange"
"I'm a friendly"
He knew the right way to speak to him
What he really needed was to hear a Sargent yelling commands. That would have gotten a subservient response out of him.
@@Hipsters_N_Hippies no man...you dont yell at someone having an episode
Just no
@@Hipsters_N_Hippies no, he was already in a ready to fight state. yelling at him could have caused his mind to put him in a full battle mindset. the entire time he was holding position to defend and watch, only ready to fight if engaged. telling him in a calm but firm manner those things was the best they could have done.
I'm going to assume he was also in the service too, the certain way among how combat guys talk, grunts, fellow veterans folks to each other. Now for this scenario, he could relate or empathize with the guy, so the officer could take the appropriate approach towards the vet. Not only that, but the specific places he mentioned too, (now I'm not %100 guarantee he is) made me think so.
@@Hipsters_N_Hippies Yes exactly. Here in India veterans often live in army communities and more often than not the unit commander comes in and yells orders to someone who's suffering like this. It works like magic.
This poor guy man. Served his country, he’s on probation, and he has horrible PTSD. Nothing but love for this guy
White Rider so you’re okay with millions of people that includes innocent children and women being overrun and slaughtered by Muslim Countries that want to take their freedoms away. Last time I checked we Americans are supposed too stand up for the weak, and protect freedom at any cost, foreign or domestic
Jacob Cooper USA is NOT the worlds police force. Stay in your own country and the world would be a much better place.
NorthWest Firefighter you’re such an uncultured person😂 I was born on this rock I’m gonna go see as much of it as possible lmao
NorthWest Firefighter also I didn’t know it was policing when you would be fighting for people’s freedom.
White Rider Oh so it’s the Muslims in Congress fault for sending Americans to go die in foreign countries? Lmao buddy please go look up your history and who’s actually behind all this.

You have no idea what your mind can do
As a combat veteran suffering from ptsd, this breaks my heart on so many different levels.

How do you deal with everyday life after being in combat & forced to kill
How actually PTSD manifests itself? I have no clue what a person like in the video feels. What makes your brain short circuit like that? What goes through you mind during an episode?
It is real PTSD come because kill innocent people for government get oil?
Sir,please know that you are not only respected fully, but we all love you, too.
You hate to see this. PTSD is a horrible thing
this had me crying because i could relate to the sensation that there are threats all around from surviving someone trying to kil you.

That cop was awesome "the AO is clear" he was trying to make him feel safe when nothing was making sense. We need to do alot more to take care of our veterans. They fought for us and our government abandoned them.
Wasn't just the government that abandoned them. Leftists made it "uncool" to support our military!
J nielsen Thats literally not what happened this isnt supposed to be political quit making it. He has ptsd. He fought for our country and the government does nothing to support and help him and many others who have ptsd.
@@roccobro It's never been political, the VA has been underfunded for years. Our government struggles to give the VA the funding it deserves every year. There's so many vets now that the marginal budget increases Congress votes on isn't enough.
Exactly the plot of metal gear.
But I totally agree, vets should be living in awesome conditions with access to mental and physical care at no cost.
@@roccobro Get over yourself. The main reason this guy was even in Iraq and became like this is because of warmongering right-wingers.
"I've always been amazed that the very people forced to live in the worst parts of town, go to the worst schools, and who have it the hardest, are always the first to step up to defend. They serve so that we don't have to. They offer to give up their lives so that we can be free. It's remarkable, their gift to us. And all they ask for in return is that we never send them into harm's way unless it's absolutely necessary. Will they ever trust us gain?"
//Michael Moore
As a veteran, this just absolutely rips my heart to shreds. I was in Afghanistan, but never outside the wire. I can’t even imagine the things he saw. Our government needs to do better by our service members. They need to do better about education on mental health benefits and getting people easier access. Upon my return home from Afghanistan in May 2021 it took almost a year for them to get me and my buddies into “reintegration”. By that point, people could have died had they not been seen by a civilian physician. We need to do better.
Serious kudos to these medics for the way they handled this. Using military verbiage, and being patient with him was so necessary. Thank you for that.
Thank your for your service!

Sad to see someone who served the country in a state like this smh we need more help for our veterans
Broke my heart to watch this. 💔
We have the same over here in the UK with some of our veterans suffering from PTSD and it is not nice at all and a lot of them are living on the streets as homeless people, Not nice for anyone and more so for a soldier that has served his/her country to be living like scavengers on the street, The armed forces and the government should be doing more for those people in need,
I completely agree. I appreciate veterans but seeing this just makes me very sad
Been in this situation. Unless you pump us full of meds not much helps. And most of us dont want that. Sometimes we can respond to prolonged exposure therapy, but some like this guy it probably wouldn't work.
I just wonder what that man could possibly have seen to make him react like that. I genuinely wish the best for him and any vet going through anything like this. 😔 This is sad.
Used to work at a convenience store and had an older Vietnam vet who would come in to hang out most days for an hour or two. He'd stand around and converse or read his paper and greet customers. Every once in a while he'd come in looking disheveled and unkempt. Those days when the change machine would noisily dole out coins or someone jangled their car keys, he'd get down in a stance like the gentleman in the video, ghost gun pulled from its ghost holster, ready to take on an enemy. He liked to gather veterans together to go to funerals for other veterans who had little to no family. He passed away last week and seeing this video made me miss him that much more, for we have so much work to do when it comes to caring for our mentally worn down veterans. There are many more like the veteran in this video.
I hope you went to his funeral 🙏 RIP soldier.
I’m sorry for your loss hope you feel better I’m sure he made lots of people proud

Did you look into the Veterans places to see if they would bury him ? Hopefully with all the fan-fare that he deserves being a veteran ?
Could you call some Veteran places and speak to some one and share his story that you shared with us ?
So heartbreaking. The same happened to my cousin. He was such a different person beforehand. He was so funny, outgoing & he was so excited to go into the army & serve his country. After serving in Iraq & a few deployments, he was diagnosed with severe PTSD & schizophrenia. 💔😔 Everyday is a struggle for him now.
I'm a schizophrenic too and I can only say he appreciate the help even if it might hard to see that sometimes.

The way the officer was talking to him telling him he was a friendly and that the AO was clear and was super sweet and supportive. This whole vid gave me a new perspective on PTSD.
they gave their life for their country, physically, and mentally.
Just so yall know, when the officer was saying "The AO is clear" he was trying to connect with the vet by using code words that are used on the front lines "AO" stands for "Area of Operation". Although I know some of you probably knew that.
Thanks for the explanation. I'm a non-English speaker, so I was wondering what AO means. Btw, I think the paramedic you're talking about is actually a police officer.

As a combat veteran with a service related disability due to my time in Iraq... I'm so sorry. You're not alone brother. Take your time, seek help. It doesn't make you weak, it makes you strong. There's medication and counseling that can help. Also, if you don't have it, seek military disability. Regardless of what you've heard the VA has been great to me and will help you as you need it.
Thank you for your service.
Thank you for your service Zach. You’ve given more than we should have ever taken from you.
Mr.Zack🪖 is very strong man...very...I wish all the best. Great respect 🕊️👋
You don't get this level of trauma pushing paper in a field office, this man saw some wicked things. I feel horrible, he shouldn't have to live like this.
Lots of people see crazy combat. Note that many have severe PTSD like this. You just hear about it in the news
@@johnford9070 some people are more prone to this kind of trauma response than others, everyone copes differently. It’s still sad.
I hate sentiment like this. I'm a grunt and I know pogs who been through more than some grunts. In the infantry anything can happen to anybody...combat role or support. And even outside of the infantry. Mortor IDF on a FOB can have people pretty messed up as well...that happened several times during GWOT bro.
Not only saw but DID some wicked things unfortunately, more often than not PTSD comes as a result of reacting in a very deadly way to a dangerous situation.
I think in one part of this video, the mother mentioned that he saw his army friend die by getting blown in half in Iraq
Our veterans deserve better! He gave his nation his life for how many years he served. He should be in a care facility run by the military to treat and assist those returning with mental illness.
Dude him coming back to reality literally knocked him out. . . That’s how you know his PTSD is really serious. Prayers for him
People don't understand how this happens to a person. In some cases it builds slowly. Every intense situation adds to your internal stress and it keeps building until one day you're freaking out and can't understand why. Sometimes you're just on autopilot and have no control over what you're doing in extreme cases. I feel for this man and I hope the doctors can find something to make his life easier.
Can't friggen imagine.
Probably due to all the brain washing the government has done to this poor souls to fight for the jews’ backyard. Sad.
This guy needs a companion I'm shocked they haven't offered him a support dog with this severe PTSD. There are channels that will help just have to know who to reach out to. Hope he gets with the right people.
how do you know what he has and hasn't been offered?
The Veterans Administration has ruled that service dogs have not been shown to help Vets with PTSD. Therefore, only a handful of Vets get dog from the VA.
It's B.S. I know, it's a $$$ thing since trained Service Dogs are expensive.
@@jonnwray960 the only vets that get service dogs usually are blind or deaf from service, or they were severely wounded during service
@@joeswansonthesimphunter2612
Sorry Joe, that's not a 100% correct.
Yes, blind, deaf vets get service dogs thru the VA, the VA contracts with a legit service dog training group near it's medical facility. The same goes for seriously wounded vets as well as you mentioned.
For years, the VA has claimed that their was no evidence that service dogs were any help to the disabled. The real story is that the V.A. didn't want to spend the approximately $25K per trained dog. Just recently, Congress grew tired of the V.A.'s B.S. and ordered the V.A. to immediately supply vets with dogs.
There is a program that has been a huge success for the vets. In some prisons, inmates can volunteer, and if selected, are matched up with a dog to teach the dog to be a service dog for a vet. It is a win-win-win situation. First, the dogs come from county/city pounds, humane shelters, rescue shelters, etc. So the dogs get a 2nd chance at life, they will be well cared for in a new home, and they will have a job to perform..........dogs are happy when they can work.
Next, the disabled vet gets a dog, trained suited to their needs and disabilities. Then, the inmate..........he/she gets a rewarding task to perform. The dog is with them 24/7, the inmate feeds, trains, plays, sleeps with the dog. The inmate learns responsibility, a skill that can transfer to the outside world. The V.A. wins, only a handful of staff will be needed at each prison. The staff will be needed to train the inmates on how to train the dogs, how to care for the dogs physically, supervise the program, purchase and distribute supplies, and make progress reports to the V.A.
I know a great deal about the service dog issue.......I have a service dog, and I was lead to her by the V.A.
@@jonnwray960 also need to point out the stipulations to qualify for a service dog are pretty extreme. The veteran has to be verifiable clean and sober for atleast one year. The veteran has to have their own home or live with someone who has been designated as a caregiver. If the veteran has a history of suicidal thoughts they must be deemed to no longer be any threat to themselves. The list goes on, which sadly drives away applicants.
Thank y’all so much for helping my brother. The compassion is so awesome. Thank y’all so much
