About 2 Meter Sessions
====================
Based in the Netherlands, 2 Meter Sessions is an independent, ongoing (new) music platform with a great legacy. Monthly we film 3 to 4 sessions with promising and breakthrough acts from all over the world.
Many well-known acts have visited the show; from James Taylor, Elliott Smith and David Crosby to Damien Jurado, Ben Howard and Josh Ritter, via Radiohead, Nirvana, Coldplay and Foo Fighters. Archive footage can regularly be seen in (theatrical) documentary movies, like “Mystify: Michael Hutchence” (with footage of our session with INXS, filmed in 1997), “Heaven Adores You” (with footage of our session with Elliott Smith, filmed in 1998) and “All I Can Say” (with footage of our session with Blind Melon, filmed in 1993).
The show started back in 1987 by radio presenter Jan Douwe Kroeske. On his popular national radio show he persuaded New-Zealand band Crowded House to play a couple of songs. The response of the public was so great, that 2 Meter Sessions quickly became a household name. In 1993, the show made a successful transition to national television. From there the show became a national phenomenon, for over 10 years, with filmed sessions of new talent, breakthrough acts and arrived career artists. Almost a million of 2 Meter Sessions cd’s were sold in the Netherlands.

Really touching. And another proof of Monteverdi's music is timeless. For me there is no doubt that Monteverdi was the most ahead of his time composser and one of the biggest contributor to the evolution of music.
Her lyrics:
Oh love
Oh love
Oh love
Where is it? His faithfulness was promised to me
I’ve been deceived, I’m lost
Please bring his love to me the way it was before
Oh, oh let me die now
Then it won’t hurt me more
It will not hurt me, it will not hurt me
No more
And do not let him sigh now
Though he is far away from me
No, no, he would not, he would not let me hurt anymore, I swear
He is so proud, standing in this light
The light I spread on him
Oh my God this is the most beautiful thing I have heard in years...
This is so beautiful! Monteverdi was a genius and his music has been wonderfully interpreted here by Ana, without loss of underlying feelings, the torture love can bring and the sweet tenderness of the lady conveying these words gazing at the sky. I love you for this
Her lyrics, continued:
If I will leave him in the shadows, would he come back for me?
Are her eyes as bright, her kisses as light
As feathers, as feathers on your skin
Oh, love, the value of my true heart in your hand
Lasts longer than her kiss ever can
Her lips could never hold this true love like my heart
Please do not speak my love
You know this oh so well
Just love me, love me
Love me
And please don’t speak
Perfect ! This could move a stone to tears ... ❤️💯
I've spent a long time looking for a good version of this Monteverdi piece. This contemporary interpretation is as fine as I've found. Thank you, Ane, for you turning your gift and talent into this timeless gem.
I love Ane Brun and this is beautiful. Everything always sounds so effortless and heartfelt she is a wonderful artist and she is very inspiring.
What an amazing voice. Only just recently found out about this great singer/songwriter.
Love her "It all starts with one" CD.
❤❤Unbelievable, and touching - thank you so much.
Dude... I have been a total fan of that song for years, and that is awesome! I liked the song despite the old-fashioned usual renditions, that I hated. Please, take all my likes!
Such longing, such pain.. I think she can make a stone cry..
Omg I can‘t believe how beautiful this is😧😍
Thank you!! This is great !!!!!!! It's very special to so perform ancient song:. It's fine and I get it with a smile, surprised;}
Oh, love
Oh, love
Oh, love
Where is it his faithfulness was?
Promise to me
I've been deceived
I'm lost
Please bring his love
To me the way it was before
Oh, or let me die now
Then it won't hurt me more
It will not hurt me
It will not hurt me
No more
And do not let him sigh now
When he is far away from me
No, no
He would not, he would not
Let me hurt anymore
I swear
He is so proud
Standing in this light
The light I spread on him
If I would leave him in the shadows
Would he come back for me?
Are her eyes as bright
Her kisses as light
As feathers, as feathers
On your skin?
Oh, love the value
Of my true heart in your hand
Last longer than her kiss ever can
Her lips can never hold this true love
Like my heart
Please, do not speak, my love
You know this all so well
Just love me, love me
Love me
And please, don't speak
Oh lordy I forgot how beautiful her and her voice is
Bella versión ❤️❤️
Bellísima Ninfa, tu lamento con Letanía me rompe el corazón.
absolutely gorgeous
love this song ... very talented singer love for her and her voice!
If you don't love you will cease to be remembered.
In the orange glow of morning
No words will be spoken.
Against the back walls of yellow
You will watch the sun rise.
Reality is a sore spot for lovers.
It is the place, where all decisions are made.
I say WoW!!! Amazing!
Im from Poland and I Love this Music
Huge Compliment!
And - by the way - I love especially her musical articulation of "value" ;-))
It is great!! Thanks, very happy. She understood so well!

Just perfect: music, music, music.

Fantastic!
Time travelling!!!!I played this song at 14:02 - next time check - and there is 21:44 on my clock. But because I feel so good I will probably not try to travel back. One anebrunmusictimejump tired me so nicely so I will not abuse my new superpower and will go to bed :) ......Oh love
OK, I'm a sucker for the original, with the trio of men setting the stage for the nymph.... but props to Ane.... WONDERFUL interpretation, in my view. Thanks.
If somebody has a hint for me how to play the guitar.. please contact me. I would love to sing that and I leaned to play the classical guitar.. so I just need a hint. Would be lovely.
This is a really touching version. Thank you, Ane. I have been and am either adoring the original for a long time. And for that I can recommend the 'Le pont des artes' (movie)-version. :)
Quelle merveilleuse interprétation !
It’s crazy I was 8 when this video came out

Que buen gusto para hacerlo, increible!!!/ Such a good taste for do this, amazing!!!
These are such personal, intimate sessions. I especially enjoy Beth Hart & this Art Work from Ane Brun. If you listen very closely @ 2.14, you can hear her "Tummy growling". Such a wonderful gift she has given us with this performance !!!

Interesante, Sue, gracias por compartirla.
Buscaré la original de D. Claudio.
This voice killed me.
Available on iTunes: It all starts with one
This is just sublime....if I were wearing sox they would have melted
❤
Hello, it's a little C.F. Martin guitar, serie 5-15 (mahogany for top, back and sides). It's an inactive model in their catalog.
Великолепно!
It's not bad but I find this English translation for a single performer to not quite have the impact of the madrigal original.
"Amor" (dicea)
"Amor" (il ciel mirando, il piè fermo)
"Amor. Dove, dov'è la fè ch'el traditor giurò?"
(Miserella.)
Ba- rock n Roll ! !
bravissima
Mi prenos vin kun mi
the way it was before or let me die now
Yes, I can hear that you and your musicians ''understand'' perfectly Monteverdi, but the difference with ''this girl'' is that she not only understands, but ''Feels'' Monteverdi, and do you realy think the youht of today is so stupid that they can not feel this difference? Englisch or Italien who matters! I'm so sorry for you and so happy for them and Ane!
Very true, yet still some so called musicians brag about how likes of Mozart revolutionized music where they have no clue about Monteverdi's works.
super*****
I just love her version so much. would it be able to send this song to me? Please contact me!
ahaha, i wanna hear 'pur ti miro' with guitars and modern voices
Lamento Della Ninfa mean Arts bridge!!!
Beatiful, but still is a cover, the original is a master piece of baroque era. I have this feeling, when i hear this version, something is missing, a second voice perhaps.
Wow, this is really not bad! I still prefer Alessandrini, but man, this is beautiful, no doubt about that.
Does anybody know the tuning ?
What kind of guitar is she playing? Anyone knows?
va giusto bene in campeggio...
I would like to say the lyrics for this song, where, how!?
it's so beautiful!!! voice, rhythm, feelings!!
You can like this version or not, I do! If you don't than just say so or go do something else, bus spare me you're childisch comment. Do you speak Monteverdi regularly? How can you tell he would'nt like this? He was a very modern writer in his age, not an old fart with fear of change.
This is real cry of nymph
Can i see the lyrics plz?
I’m here cuz castlevania the song was so good I had to find a version in English
Brilliant phrasing the "love me" phrasing to replace the "taci"s instead of don't speak so it would follow the original phrasing
hi
Doesn't look like a baroque guitar, those have paired strings up to 9. This one only has 6 and the shape is more like a modern acoustic.
Excuse me, where could I watch the lyrics?
Originalmente esta en Italiano. Bonita versión, voz increíblemente hermosa, pero se escucharía mejor en italiano.
This girl don't understand Monteverdi at all but if the youth will get interested in the depth of the original even this kind of performances might be helpfull.
Is this one take???
Yes
@@2metersessies
That's absolutely incredible.
chords? please
If anything, maintaining quality of baroque music is by respecting the theoretical property of it .. any musician, and opera singer I could understand .. not discuss that with you- thanks :)

no!!! nooooo!!!! como pudiste!!! como mierdaaas pudiste!!!! arruinar una PIEZA BARROCA!!!!!!!!! NO TIENES PERDOOOOOOOOON!!!!!!!!! NO PUEDO CREEERLO NOOOO!!
NOOOO ! Questa aria si può tradurre in inglese , ma deve emozionare come nell' originale , altrimenti diventa una nenia noiosa ...
sounds terrible in english.
in general, a lot of things sound terrible in English.
It would sound great in Ukrainian!
He escuchado este lamento hasta en jazz, y este es el menos me gusta.
Offensive for the art translate it...bad...
It does not have to be in one language.
When the language is part of the art yes. For that there are so many strangers coming to Italy for improving their italian for singing operas for example. Obviously you can do it, but it's not the same, for me. Also italian opera singers or medieval players and singers have to improve their skills because the language is changed. The same can be said fot the instruments you use...
+houdini260 Art does not have to follow rules you set for it. Art is art either way.
The lyrics and the language, for me, is part of this piece of art. These are not my rules. Monteverdi made those rules and I think if he decided to use italian is for some reasons. But it's not easy and fast, many times to make and appreciate art people have to study much time. I thimk it's just too easy make what she did...
+houdini260 I understand what you mean. But to call it easy? How many people can say they can convert a master piece into another language and do it so elegantly?
2:49 hahah No. Ruined. Dislike
