hi Jessica, sometimes when checking the shipping times in Aliexpress they normally write it this way [25 - 30 days] while at times they write it in a different format. like this [03/01] please what does it mean. Emmanuel!
Hi Emmanuel! Great question. Do you have an example of this happening? If so can you please take a screenshot and write into hello@oberlo.com. I haven't seen this before so I'm not sure what those numbers mean. Our support team can look into it once you email us. 😀 -Kitana
I have some questions. I currently have a site that’s starting to get orders. I focus only on Canada for accounting and tax purposes. For those running their sites as a legit business how do you handle the accounting of dropshipping products from one country and sending it to a different country? Such as ordering from China and shipping to a customer in the US? I find just dealing with the government and importing into Canada only to be a pain. Are you self assessing your import duties?
Jessica, with all the interviews, I wish you were already an expert on all these issues. I hope that soon the course of Oberlo 101 in Spanish or with RUclips video format that can be translated. Also that they differ from the hundreds of Gurus, who always end up selling their course.. that once and for all someone teaches everything to be an expert, if I pay for a course to learn to drive I end up driving, if I pay for an English course, you go out learning English, but many of these courses, show you parts and you don't end up learning all the steps.. if we copy each step, we should get those results. Best regards
Your videos are always inspiring so thank you for your efforts. I hope if you could give us some information about Customer Service Problems such as How to handle returns ( Will it be returned to my store or to the supplier?! ) and How to handle a customer who needs an invoice or a receipt with his/her order??. And will i have to note the supplier not to include invoices with every single order i make?. One last thing i wanna know is Taxes and how figure it especially for people who are outside USA and drop shipping in USA. Happy New Year.
Hi there! Great questions. When it comes to returns you will handle your own returns. Customers should be returning items to you if you accept them. Some suppliers will accept returns and others won't, however shipping items back to China is very expensive and most people won't do it. Read more about returns here (bit.ly/2XWYDpx). When customers purchase from your store they are automatically sent an invoice for the order to their email so you don't have to send anything. When it comes to informing suppliers about dropshipping this is already done for you with every order you make on AliExpress using the Oberlo Chrome Extension. For taxes the best thing to do is contact a tax expert who is local to you, they will be able to help you with the right information based on the state you're in. I hope that helps and a happy New Year to you too! 😀 -Kitana
I have a question that I think would be useful to at least a few people here. So I just finished getting pretty much everything in my store ready, but the only problem is that Christmas is almost gone and by the time my product ships it will be January. It's not a Christmas product, it's relationship product, but I'm wondering if anyone will buy it now since I wanted to start this weekend. Any advice?
Hey there! Good question. It is helpful to our viewers, for sure. At this point, Christmas is off the table for new sellers. It's too late to target Christmas shoppers, but that's okay! There are plenty of 'sales seasons' on the horizon and there's no better time to start than now. 🙂 -Jasper
Great vid guys, Thank you 👍 I was just wondering about your Instagram strategy, does this still work now the organic reach has dropped & the likes being removed? 🤔
Hey there! Thank you for the love and great question. The strategy will work still, but of course as time goes on and platforms make changes you might have to do more trial and error along with the strategies to find new ways that work better. Making changes here and there to already proven strategies is the only way to test what will work better for you and your business. Give it a try and let me know what you find out! 😀 -Kitana
@@Oberlo Hey Kitana, Thank you so much for your reply 😁 you guys are amazing....Ive been chatting with Iveta about starting a new store; she has been so helpful...bring on 2020 👍👍👍
I would just like to establish what you mean when you say " they made ( what ever figure ) in a certain length of time". Do you mean gross turn over, or net profit?
You can build an instagram surrounding that niche! For example you can make an instagram account about fishing and test various fishing products to your audience for free! :)
Hey there! Great question. You can do some research on Instagram to see how much engagement is within that community or niche. If you wanted to learn about the dog community for example you would look at all the hashtags that are dog related, see how often people are posting. Find the big dog accounts that have businesses associated with them already and see how well their stores are doing. I hope that helps. 😀 -Kitana
I have a question. I saw product in the aliexpress and saw its really interesting. I am planning to build a website (30% working in it now) for a branding product and market it... then here is the problem. when I contact the supplier in aliexpress and talk about the if they can dropship this product to customer i don't get reply to the supplier. is it still good to use this product? what is my best approach for this problem? do I need to look for another product since the supplier is not responsive?
Hey there! Great question. You can use the supplier if you want but I wouldn't. You have to think down the line, if the supplier hasn't responded to you now what if you have an issue with an order and need to talk to them, they might not respond in the future. That is an issue for your business. I would try to contact them again and see if they will respond this time, if not then move on to another supplier, or take the chance. 😀 -Kitana
Hi Oberlo team, thanks for your inspiring videos. But I would like to ask you a question about product selection for Dropshipping Business. The question is: what kind of Branded products from Aliexpress, I am legally eligible to sell in my Shopify store for US market, like Big branded products (like Casio, Huawei) or China Branded Products like SKMEI or No Brand Name - the product without any brand name? Regards
Hi there! Excellent question. I can answer this is a general sense. If you recognize the brand, do not sell it. If you have a suspicion that the brand is inauthentic, don't sell it. Shopify will ultimately block any products that infringe on trademark or copyright, so it's best to avoid them all from the get-go. Hope that helps! 🙂 -Jasper
I liked this video, but felt I had to comment on the Shipping Rate conversation. North Americans are spoiled with low shipping rates. This is not the case with the Caribbean or land-locked countries in other parts of the world.
@@shannoncole6425 I'm glad a fellow Canadian commented about this. Yeah, shipping rates within Canada is definitely 10 times more than how it is in the US. Not fair!
oversaturation is a myth. Agreed but the question is does it mean we need to increase our ad budgets for these products? like for the first product blue light glasses
Hey there! Excellent question. It's reasonable to assume that you need to spend more if everyone is vying for visibility. The caveat, however, is that you don't have to target the same interests or people. If you find lower competition audiences that still have a use for your product, then you might find a market of your own that does not require a super competitive ad spend. 🙂 -Jasper
Hey! I have had this problem which has been stopping me from starting a dropshipping business for sometime. In my country, business PayPal accounts are banned and we can’t receive payments through PayPal. Do I absolutely need a business PayPal to start my dropshipping business on Shopify or do you think people will make payments from other streams like their own credit cards? I hope someone can answer my question 😭
Hey there! Good question. You do not need to accept payments through PayPal. There are people who prefer using credit cards, and theres some that prefer PayPal. Not having PayPal will not interfere with getting your dropshipping store started. Let me know if you have any other questions about this. 😀 -Kitana
I am unable to purchase 1 month plan from Shopify. I don't know what went wrong . I have used every possible way such as Global card, PayPal, Credit card .What to do next?😔😔
Hey there! So sorry that has happened, the best thing to do is contact the Shopify support team so they can give you more information about this. You can email in, live chat, or call them (bit.ly/2Sk8rJp). They will be able to help you with this. 😀 -Kitana
i was wondering is that anything that we can't sell on shopify ? For example Liquid ? adult product condoms and toys? and any other things else ? Marijuana accompanying products and what else we can't sell. I was just wondering is there any products that i couldn't touch and touch it by mistake and get suspended without notice.
Hey there! Good question. You'll want to take a look at the Shopify Payments Terms of Use and look under the prohibited items for a complete list. More here (bit.ly/2qJnEbC). You cannot sell items that infringe on trademark or copyright and I would avoid selling anything ingestible or that is topically applied unless I knew the supplier's source very well. Hope taht helps!l 🙂 -Jasper
First of all, thank you for sharing your knowledge, and experiences with us. It is invaluable for someone like me, that doesn't have social media skills, and is completely new to drop-shipping. I think it would be helpful to go through the steps of building a niche community on Instagram. There has been some discussion about doing it, but not how to do it. Regarding competing with Amazon, I regularly see ads from Amazon on my Facebook feed based. I'm sure they are tailored to my history and cookies. They may not be the most creative ads, but they're ads nonetheless. So I don't think it's accurate to say that Amazon doesn't advertise. I don't know about Instagram, but they do advertise on Facebook. Does anyone else receive Amazon ads?
How do you deal with different supplier if your selling different kind of products from different supplier? The customer will have to receive each product separately and pay shipping fee for each??
Hey there! Awesome question. That is correct. If you sell a lot of products from different suppliers the customer will receive the products separately. To avoid this try to limit your store to using one or two suppliers. 😀 -Kitana
Hey there! Email marketing is one of the most effective and economical ways to market your products. Especially as you build a list of prospects! Here's a great resource for learning about email marketing (bit.ly/2YQnprQ). 🙂 -Jasper
I thought about selling that selfie light ring ...it was horrible. The plastic was so cheap and the LED lights were so dim (even on the brightest setting) it didn't make one oz of difference in any photos that I used. Not sure how these guys made money off this product.
When these experts say they made up to six figures, are those numbers gross before subtracting overhead costs or are they net? You have a lot of testimonials in your videos and that is never made clear. I just purchased the 101 Course and it references Ryan Carroll made $60,000 in 4 months, Jeffrey Ho mad over $55,000 in his first year, and Scott Holse generated over $200,000 in 13 months. Please clarify.
They are revenues only (gross earnings). But even at a very high COGS and expenses running at 80% of the revenues, that's still USD12k in 4 months that Ryan Caroll (in your example ) made. Successful dropshippers usually make roughly 35% profit margins. What most rank-and-file employees and white collar workers make in a year are made in 2-3 months. If I make 32k in a year before but now can make it in half the time (6 months), I'm happy, let alone that it's only from one shop.
Build an instagram community around a niche! Test multiple different types of products until you find a winner! :) It's a much cheaper alternative to paying while learning paid advertising mediums! Definitely takes more time but it works well in building an audience you can continually use.
Hey there! Fantastic question. It's not more or less risky per se, but it is definitely a sound strategy to approach eCommerce with. Selling products that solve problems never goes out of style! No need to chase a trend here, problem-solving products are always a great go-to! 🙂 -Jasper
@@Oberlo Thanks Jasper for your response. Any information is helpful when starting something new. Another thing I want to ask you guys is when someone opens a general store and they don't get all their products from one supplier but has to use multiple suppliers, is that a deal-breaker or an issue when it comes to customer satisfaction? I understand people love it when they get ordered products in the same box at the same time but is that a huge issue? Thanks!
Hey there! Another golden question! Most merchants have multiple suppliers and even if you had a customer purchase from you who bought two products from the same suppliers, there is no guarantee that they ship together. Definitely not a deal-breaker. Don't get me wrong, it's nice to have products arrive together, but it wouldn't deter me. Even Amazon ships packages separately sometimes! If you were looking to explain this to your customers, you might say something like "We work with a variety of suppliers worldwide to curate our favourite products for you. As such, products may be shipped from differing locations". 🙂 -Jasper
i think the best way we all are missing is to give offer buy 2 get one free with free shipping method i think i'd go with this approach for the selfie lights and as well recycled water bottle. and choose audience something like this, for selfie lights = people who spend more time on instagram or people using instagram now i'd like to narrow down the audience airbrush youcam makeup now i'll narrow it down further to = redmi note 6 , s10 plus, means people using dual selfie camera mobile phone i'd also narrow it down to 10%-25% household income , age groups 16 to 40 , and also i'll come up with other many audiences for this product , for water bottle, i'd target people hiking , surfing , trekking, travel , law enforcement officers , sherrifs , recycling , parents with kids ages from 8-10 years , and also i'll narrow it down further by excluding technical people , the best way to research about audience is to gather specific data if your outreach is overwhelming to target state wide people.
@harsh gupta yeah man it seems like only few people get interviewed. I've seen that only those who beat drums about their success and reach out to them only then they interview. They don't seem to actively find people making it big

hi Jessica, sometimes when checking the shipping times in Aliexpress they normally write it this way [25 - 30 days] while at times they write it in a different format. like this [03/01] please what does it mean. Emmanuel!
Hi Emmanuel! Great question. Do you have an example of this happening? If so can you please take a screenshot and write into hello@oberlo.com. I haven't seen this before so I'm not sure what those numbers mean. Our support team can look into it once you email us. 😀 -Kitana
These guys are epic
They really are awesome! So much knowledge. 😀 -Kitana
Thanks so much! You're pretty epic yourself!!
Hey Shannon we can answer more in-depth questions like this over at our FB group "ecom explorers" :)
😀 -Kitana
@@Oberlo Thanks Kitana. So handling returns is hard for droppshippers who aren't living in USA and targeting USA market!
🙂 -Jasper
I don't understand one thing. Do they have a website for each product? or each product they show us is a sample of a niche website?
Great vid guys, Thank you 👍 I was just wondering about your Instagram strategy, does this still work now the organic reach has dropped & the likes being removed? 🤔
Hey there! Thank you for the love and great question. The strategy will work still, but of course as time goes on and platforms make changes you might have to do more trial and error along with the strategies to find new ways that work better. Making changes here and there to already proven strategies is the only way to test what will work better for you and your business. Give it a try and let me know what you find out! 😀 -Kitana
@@Oberlo Hey Kitana,
Thank you so much for your reply 😁 you guys are amazing....Ive been chatting with Iveta about starting a new store; she has been so helpful...bring on 2020 👍👍👍

@@Oberlo Yay! I can't wait....thank you 👍👍
I would just like to establish what you mean when you say " they made ( what ever figure ) in a certain length of time". Do you mean gross turn over, or net profit?
Hi there! When we say 'they made', we are referring to their store's revenue. Profits vary based on operating costs. 🙂 -Jasper
I dont understant one thing, how can u check if a niche is worth with instagram without wasting money
😀 -Kitana
@@Oberlo Thank you for your help Kitana !

Am i the only one who’s not able to click on the links in the description?
They should be working now!
Trevor Weir Canada is definitely not spoiled on many products for shipping rates! I feel your pain! 🙂
@@shannoncole6425 I'm glad a fellow Canadian commented about this. Yeah, shipping rates within Canada is definitely 10 times more than how it is in the US. Not fair!
Hawaii and Alaska are the same. Always get the bad end.
oversaturation is a myth. Agreed but the question is does it mean we need to increase our ad budgets for these products? like for the first product blue light glasses
Oversaturation is a myth lmfao you guys are funny
Hey there! Excellent question. It's reasonable to assume that you need to spend more if everyone is vying for visibility. The caveat, however, is that you don't have to target the same interests or people. If you find lower competition audiences that still have a use for your product, then you might find a market of your own that does not require a super competitive ad spend. 🙂 -Jasper
🙌 Canadian girl here trying to make it work! But im from Ottawa 😳
You got this Nes! 🚀
😄thx
😀 -Kitana
Oberlo Thank you very much for answering. Now I can start my drop shipping store without worrying.
Great to hear! If you ever have more questions you know where to find us.
😀 -Kitana
How much of that was profit?
i was wondering is that anything that we can't sell on shopify ? For example Liquid ? adult product condoms and toys? and any other things else ? Marijuana accompanying products and what else we can't sell. I was just wondering is there any products that i couldn't touch and touch it by mistake and get suspended without notice.
I am just trying to avoid the products that we shouldn't touch!
And also I was wondering as well there is some factory that can custom make some brand like supreme umbrellas or T-shirts
Are we allow to sell those ?
@@lvin624 I wouldn't recommend selling copyright products
Does anyone else receive Amazon ads?
great video
Thanks for your comment! 🙂 -Jasper
😀 -Kitana
How much effective email marketing is?

@@MauricioMango ayayy sir, thank youu 🤩🤩🤩
I've been trying to sell one of this products before this video even existed, 0 sales
which one?
Build an Instagram community around the product just to test it? That not seems doable...
Build an instagram community around a niche! Test multiple different types of products until you find a winner! :) It's a much cheaper alternative to paying while learning paid advertising mediums! Definitely takes more time but it works well in building an audience you can continually use.
@@kenektmarketing2351 thanks for the tip. That seems easier :-)
It takes time so start now...
Yep alot! If you want to gain followers organically ..
Hi Oberlo, is selling problem-solving products the best way to start a dropshipping business? or less risky than others? Thanks!
🙂 -Jasper

none of those product are easy to target potential customers on facebook ads!
i think the best way we all are missing is to give offer buy 2 get one free with free shipping method i think i'd go with this approach for the selfie lights and as well recycled water bottle. and choose audience something like this,
for selfie lights = people who spend more time on instagram or people using instagram now i'd like to narrow down the audience
airbrush
youcam makeup
now i'll narrow it down further to = redmi note 6 , s10 plus, means people using dual selfie camera mobile phone
i'd also narrow it down to 10%-25% household income , age groups 16 to 40 ,
and also i'll come up with other many audiences for this product ,
for water bottle,
i'd target people hiking , surfing , trekking, travel , law enforcement officers , sherrifs , recycling , parents with kids ages from 8-10 years ,
and also i'll narrow it down further by excluding technical people ,
the best way to research about audience is to gather specific data if your outreach is overwhelming to target state wide people.
These 2 recommended blue light glasses, water bottle, and keyboard. I feel trolled. I'm surprised they didn't also recommend iPhone case or watches
It's all how you market it! :)
