I agree that a R8 is a great car for this. I bought a first gen R8 V10 with a manual transmission and the appreciation has been strong. My best appreciation has been my Porsche 993 Turbo and my 2005 Acura NSX.

Nevermind the manual versions that went through the roof. Got to the point that ordering a new one was cheaper. Ended up putting the order in Sept 2021 and got my allocation this past fall. I can understand why he thinks how he does by just driving it around public streets but I also think if he’d really ring it’s neck and see how much better it’s cornering is he would change his mind. Breaks could be better. But as for the engine note I’m with him. Let’s see if he’s right about the pricing in 2 years.

So if I buy a car like this for 150,000 the tax loan in California is going to be almost 15 grand. How do I drive it for a year and then sell it and not lose 30 or 40 grand grand???

I bought a 2014 V10 Spyder in 2021 with low miles, black edition and diamond stitched interior. Since then, the market on the R8 has come down about 5%. It will likely drop another 5% over the next 12-18 months. After waking up this car by installing an F1 exhaust, I plan on keeping it for 5 years. I dont care about driving the car for only $500/month because this is a car to keep longer than 12 months. My only regret was not buying a gated 6.
@@caseygardner8583 If you take the exotic car hack course, you will understand it better. I did it without the course, but i know how the market works. Buy the car at the right spot in the depreciation curve, choose the most desirable specs and exit at the right time.

No set answer. The real question is can you afford the payment? Some people’s liabilities are significantly less. Hacking properly will get all your payments back in the end
I had a 2020 with delivery miles bought from a dealer. 18 months and 4000 miles later, I sold it to a car buying website for 3% less than I paid. 21 weeks later it is still advertised for sale for 6% more than I sold it for and would have been due a service in that time. Weird market.
I currently own a Dodge Charger Scat Pack Widebody at 20 years old with no job. My car is being repaired right now after it randomly has a "service error". I am finished "settling" for non-exotic cars that I dont truly desire. For the past few months I was thinking of buying a Corvette C8 first before buying a Lamborghini or McLaren, but I dont even like them. They're an unattractive McLaren rebrand that is an absolute disrespect to what an actual exotic car should look like. I am yet to know how, but I will own a Lamborghini or McLaren next!
@@marcos45923 You can say that. I buy and sell used cars either functioning or damaged. Most of the cars damaged have little to no physical damage on the inter & exterior, and I sell the parts seperately.
In my opinion the C8 Z06 is heinous. Chevy got the proportions wrong, the car looks like shit. Performance figures don't matter. My public bashing of Corvette nerds is based on the fact that they say they bought their C8 because it's faster than whatever car that's 5X as expensive. But they didn't, because they couldn't afford the more expensive car. They bought what they could afford, which is fine. They have zero footing to act like they made a conscious choice not to buy a 765LT because that was never affordable to them to begin with.
Question so when you say car hacks you are buying the cars and flipping them so you are not penalized for maintenance and repair for the cars. You are then working up to different types of cars doing the same method correctly. So if you only wanted to have a R8, for example, does the car hack system makes sense besides your guidance on what car is best as far as value which was awesome by the way. Thanks for the videos R8 was and is still my dream car in convertible. I currently have a 2019 Camaro SS convertible that is lots of fun but the R8 has always been my dream and now the new z06 vette but I'm sure that's not a good hackable car.
Very interesting vid and good advice As for future car vids I've always wondered about 911s. What is a good hack? 996 or 997 Every other 911 seems to be priced out as I see it

@pejman what are your thoughts on the 2012 r8 GT and the 650 McLarens. The latter seem quite hackable based on my research. I ask about the r8 GT because the pricing seems ridiculously low relative to other gen 1 v10s given they cost almost 70k more at MSRP when first released and the 333 limited supply and now can be had between 105-115.
If it's your first exotic go R8. Grab a McLaren after you have a solid relationship with a 3rd party mechanic from owning a few other exotics. Not a knock on McLaren just a risk management strategy. 570S is a great car.
