Hi Sir, you didnt show how to make it in Card, there is no way to insert image in card. and other question how we can make it rounded corners same color? Thanks before
@HowtoPowerBI: Thank you for your video. Could you please make a video to teach us how to make the blur & glow effect for chart elements in Pbi (eg. Blur& glow line in line chart...). Thank you!
Seriously your content is on FIRE! I’m surprised you don’t have million subscribers. In time it will come but I will keep doing my part and when people ask where did you figure that out, I send them your link!
great stuff, Bas! by using overlay, we can create gradient effect of our choosing. not being proficient with color scheme is really a deficiency for creating great chart. thanks a lot.
I don't know where you get these tips, but amazing work BAZ, I mostly don't comments on youtube videos, I just watch the video and move on, but your work from last couple of weeks made me comment on your video.,., great work mate, I am setting theme is couple of my dashboards in my company taking tips from your Videos
Thanks for the video but I think it's too much work just for a gradient feature🤷. These and many more basic features are things power bi needs to have ASAP.
Quick question. can you add a button to the finished app to change the colour theme from normal to one suitable for slight colour blindness or is it replicate all the pages with the alternate theme?
I worked my way through this demo but in the end I found I had a very thin red or green border around my gradient button that doesn't look good. I downloaded your solution and I see it there as well. It's 99% cool, but that border line is a real bummer. It kinda ruins the effect. Edit: One way around this issue is to add two 1px lines (one vertical, one horizontal) to cover over the border lines. If you group the lines with the button and then group the button with the card, they can move around together. It's hacky as hell but the end result looks much better.
Hi bazz..., can you upload a video on explaining time intelligence slicers where we have the MTD, YTD, PYTD on the slicers and we can slice them to have the desired output in a card visual. I am stuck with that. Can you please explain it with a video ?
Hi, is it possible to change the background color of the button based on a text field in a column instead of another measure? I am trying to change the color depending on an input of WIN or LOSE in a sharepoint.
no - you either write a measure or you would need a column that returns the color itself (GREEN instead of WIN / red instead of LOSE) and use that or alternatively 0 and 1 so you can set up a conditional formatting rule
Hi bas, There will be some columns where I can directly use the column reference in values section or in a measure where i don't want any aggregation. I just want to pick the value from from the the same row depending on a selection. For example example: if(selectedvalue(col1)="me",col2,blank()) I want to achieve the above example shown but in true case we cannot use column reference directly, we need to use aggregation or a measure. I don't want to use aggregation or measure, I just need to get the result just from the selection. So, how can I achieve this. Please do a video on this topic. It's a request.
Why the hell can’t power bi do this. I used to do this in Word in the early 2000’s. It’s such a basic formatting option and they don’t include it in a tool that’s supposed to visualise data. It’s very strange why these basic options are missing in a programme that have existed for decades…like adding background etc 🤦
Funny thing is, you do all this work and spend hours doing what should be an extremely easy task, then all your colleagues don’t appreciate it as they were able to pull this off as kids in Microsoft paint. So dumb why this powerful visual tool programme can’t do some of the most basic tasks.

It's honestly insane that we need to jump through all these hoops to make something look this good. It's mind boggling.
There’s no doubt that Bas makes great content and is a master at finding out how to work round PowerBI’s vast array of limitations. 😂
One thing MS are good at is letting people figure out what they want through workarounds to then implement it 6 years later. Fingers crossed.
Seriously your content is on FIRE! I’m surprised you don’t have million subscribers. In time it will come but I will keep doing my part and when people ask where did you figure that out, I send them your link!
Transparent gradient overlay has so many amazing possibilities. Thank you so much for this inspiration 😊
Totally agree Amy m, thx for watching:)
I stopped working with powerBI due to job shifting. Yet, still watch your cool videos.

Great demo (y) I've replicated your approach for a custom legend for the Shape map (with gradient Fill colors enabled)
Thanks for the video but I think it's too much work just for a gradient feature🤷. These and many more basic features are things power bi needs to have ASAP.
