- Newsweek’s Senior Editor-at-Large Josh Hammer says Ilhan Omar’s allegiance to Somalia is absolutely “grounds for expulsion” from the US Congress.
Mr Hammer joined Sky News host Rita Panahi to discuss the controversial stance of the US representative.
“They’re also wildly hypocritical beyond words I can possibly describe,” he said.
“Let’s recall that as soon as soon as she was elected to Congress back in the Fall of 2018, it took Ilhan Omar maybe a month, month and a half or so, until she started tweeting about how ‘it’s all about the Benjamins baby,’ who can forget that one.

That's up for dispute though. Europeans came to our lands and divided our people into five parts. We only managed to get two of those parts into what you know as Somalia. Northeastern Kenya, the Ogaden region of Ethopia and Djibouti are all the lands of the same ethnic people known as Somalis. Who gave the foreigners the right to divide our people and group them with foreigners and draw the line there? It was done by force and it's something all Somalis believe to be undone whenever it becomes possible. For now those are internationally known borders but hopefully one day soon those borders will move to their right place. It's something that's more than a dream for most of us and the world doesn't have to worry about it for now but one day they will.
