I first saw DP in 1972. It was basically the American leg of the Made in Japan tour. I was 14 years old and my friend and I only went because it was a Friday night and we had nothing to do. Also - the concert venue was only about a mile or 2 from home - we took the bus. Neither of us were really that familiar with DP. But that show actually changed my life as far as music is concerned. That show opened my eyes to what great music was out there at the time. Before that my album collection was basically an assortment of Jimi Hendrix/Steppenwolf/CCR/The Doors and The Who. After that show I started listening to DP/Yes/Uriah Heep/King Crimson/Queen/Wishbone Ash/Robin Trower/Humble Pie/ELP - and a large amount of other great rock bands. I never imaged music could be that good.

30 years ago (OMG, I was 19) I was on the radio for a quiz, in which you had to answer 10 questions about your favourite band in 1 minute. I chose Deep Purple and I won! I chose a DP song that I wanted to hear and I won 2 cds of my choice. One of them was this album. I thought that was pretty clever because this live album (import) was pretty expensive! :)

When this album came out, it was the perfect accompaniment to ‘Made In Europe’. To date,still my favourite live versions of ‘Lay Down Stay Down’ ‘Mistreated’ & ‘You Fool No One’ are on this album.
I like this recording very much. It was originally released when there was only a handful of DP live records, namely Made in Japan, Made in Europe and the - imo - rather dubious Last Concert in Japan. Live in London has a good sound, good songs and was refreshing. And Rick Emerson's announcement also has something.

I've fond memories of this album. I bought it in Ken's record shop in Pump Street, Derry City when it first came out. About a year later I went to work in England and the first job I was on was about 200 yards away from the Gaumont in Dunster Gardens, Kilburn. I drank in the Roman Way Pub at lunchtimes (Now a f**cking Nando's) and bought fresh rolls and ham from the little Italian deli on Dyne Road... it's gone now as well. Good times.. sigh
I've fond memories of this record as well. It was the first of Deep Purple's records I got, at the age of 12 in the summer of 1984. They've been my favourite band ever since. Since I got In Rock and Made In Jaspan about half a year later, Mk II has been my golden standard, so-to-speak. But, the Burn- era live shows certainly had a particular charm to them, and Live In London is still a favourite to this day.

I never bought/got "Made in Japan" at that time,; but I bought a little known compilation album called "24 Carat Purple" second hand in a wee bookshop called 'The Orchard' (On Orchard Street, Derry City) back in the day. It had most of "Made in Japan" on it plus a few other classics from the Mark II era ... I played that feckin' record to death for about 10 years in the 80s Good times!
The solo on lay down Stay Down freakin crushed. Th e whole presentartion is absolutely superb. Immaculate guitar from the great one, and everyone is self assured and plays for each other, plays for the song. Even when its flashy and complex its in service of the song. On Mistreated the notes they dont play are as good as the ones they do. When Ritchie turns it loose hes peeling your face off and blowing your hair back. That blues thing they do in You fool No One, (which made it onto Rainbows On Stage) is so cool... its blues for sure but the format is really unusual. Glenn Hughes' hyena voice is the only bummer, he insisted on doing that
Man, if someone had partied less and stopped themselves from " soundin more and more like Stevie Wonder every day" (Jon Lord, on Glenn Hughes )this band had alot goin on considering it was a "new look" Deep Purple, they sounded pretty damned good and made you forget Mark 2.
Jon meant that Glenn started sounding like Stevie Wonder more and more during the CTTB tour. He was still together on the Burn tour and most of the Stormbringer tour. According to Glenn, he didn’t try cocaine until the Aug 30th 1974 Astrodome show which was near the end of the Burn tour and near the release of Stormbringer.

Deep Purple indudablemente marcó un estilo sin igual en su estilo musical. En personal me quedo con el álbum Made in Japan, creo yo con mejor ejecución y sonido mas clásico. Sigo Deep Purple desde sus inicio y la mejor formación es la de Ian Gillan (voz), Ritchie Blackmore (guitarra), Jon Lord (teclados), Ian Paice (batería) y Roger Glover (bajo). Con ellos la banda británica logró. su mejor momento. Esta formación hizo bien su pega, pero no supera a la antes mencionada.
Con esta banda comence mi gusto por el metal estaba muy morrillo y grababa todos los discos en cassette, junto con Zeppellin Sabbath, Pink Floyd etc.y cero drogas, en ese tiempo los que escuchabamos rock estabamos estigmatizados.

Perfeccion y rapidez muy adelantados a su tiempo, epicos un album que muestra la evolucion y la perfeccion musical, no solo de deep purple si no de lo que vendria en muchas bandas, el disco en vivo por excelencia en el punto mas alto de Purple junto con Made in Japan, Scandinavian nights, made in Europe, los mejores albums en vivo de la historia de parte de la mejor banda que a existido en mi mente

Deep Purple indudablemente marcó un estilo sin igual en su estilo musical. En personal me quedo con el álbum Made in Japan, creo yo con mejor ejecución y sonido mas clásico. Sigo Deep Purple desde sus inicio y la mejor formación es la de Ian Gillan (voz), Ritchie Blackmore (guitarra), Jon Lord (teclados), Ian Paice (batería) y Roger Glover (bajo). Con ellos la banda británica logró. su mejor momento. Esta formación hizo bien su pega, pero no supera a la antes mencionada.
I Could notice ELF as special guest. I feel in this moment R Blackmore did think "WTF! I will create a new band!"
Con esta banda comence mi gusto por el metal estaba muy morrillo y grababa todos los discos en cassette, junto con Zeppellin Sabbath, Pink Floyd etc.y cero drogas, en ese tiempo los que escuchabamos rock estabamos estigmatizados.
