a few folks asked if it can be installed on either side of the stairs, the answer is NO ! these are side specific, one end of the rail is angled to sit on the floor and unit the chair attaches to can only go on one way.. you must purchase the specific lift for the side you want to install it on
Thank you so much for this video! I just bought one of these off of Craigslist for my 14 year old son and will be watching your video again when I'm ready to install it!
Thankyou for the comment I did this video at my parents house for my mom. I told them that this video may not get many views but if it helps at least 1 person it will be worth making. It was surprisingly easy to install.
@@PowerPlantMan Is there a way to possibly modify it to wrap around a staircase that is 7 steps up to a small landing and then another 7 steps? My husband is very, very handy!
@@nancypenfield3088 We have a similar staircase, though the first run is 10 steps and second is 3, we are changing the second set to a ramp to work around the steep cost of a wraparound lift.
I'm wondering if you can help me. I need a 10' top rail--I have three 8' bottom rails but need 18' total. Any idea how to get a 10' top rail? Can I cut the three 8' to make 18'? Thanks for any advice you can give me.
Remove the end stop/limit ramp from the top of the rail then slide the carriage onto the rail until it stops & switch the carriage on then use the remote control to engage the carraige cog onto the track
Hi, It looks so simple. I want to know if required length is larger than how to extend to. Thanks and wait for your reply and do I need to make sure to left or right side or it works on both sides.
By chance do you know if it is reversible. Meaning can the same lift go on the left or the right of the stairs. Knowing the chair would need to be changed around. Thanks .randy
Hi how to manually winding the stairlift when the lift has got.no power? I have F6 sign. Also when doing manual winding how to remove the break? I can't wind it because i believe some break is engaged. Thanks
F6 is final limit switch is engaged. Wind the lift down until code clears. If the machine is not moving at all it means the OSG (over speed governor) is engaged. You need a tech for that
Help! My Brooks Superglide 120 has been working fine. Today it reads c4 but neither remote control nor either of the arm switches make it move. I've turned off and on, unplugged and replugged - still get C4 readout but no movement.
C4 actually means the stairlift is fully charged C1 means charging. E5 means the seat switch is has been activated, you need to press and hold the toggle and then see what comes up on the display to find the problem. PS stairlifts should be installed by factory trained engineers
@@somersetstairliftsltd1683 Thanks for the information! I realize things have progressed over time. Unfortunately several years ago when we purchased this we were informed that there were no qualified installers anywhere near where we live (somewhat rural area.) If that had been available then we certainly would have gone that route. Fortunately this is the first trouble we've had in these many years so I'm grateful for the folks we had install it.
Thanks a lot, you just gave me the confidence I needed to do it myself! And saved me at least 1500 CAD! Cheers guys!

ok, I guess that will work...wanted in wall side, but will have to go on spindle side Thanks for the info
Thanks...just got one for free from a friend. Now to get another friend to install

No. You would need 2 separate lifts or 1 180 unit which is about 10k brand new. I installed these for over 4 years

Really helpful, thank you. Took me 15 minutes and I saved the $250 charge from Acorn to disassemble.
Good video I am doing that now educational use cuz I'm installing one now just like the one you have
Thank you for a very informative video. Plus where to look for one too!
This is a Great Stairlift Video.
Great video! I did this 3 months ago. I recommend this video!
How did you do the wiring?
Can you explain how to put the chair onto the track? I had to remove it when I moved.

You didn't mention anything about how to get power to it. Does it just plug into the wall? Or battery? Or?
Thank you so much there are some pieces I want to make sure where they go😊
I have just bought one for my mom can not find the manual please advise I need to install it in order to have her back home

GREAT VIDEO, BUT HOW DO I GET A REMOTE FOR THE 120? NEED ONE BADLY!!! THANKS
Can it go on either side of the stairs? It was a right side going up and I need it on left going up. Is that possible?
Great presentation 👍🙏
Hi! Can we adjust the chair in order to mount it on different steep stairs?
BUT HOW DID YOU HOOK UP AND INSTALL THE CHAIR ITSELF, YOU JUST SHOW ISTALLING THE RAIL???
Remove the end stop/limit ramp from the top of the rail then slide the carriage onto the rail until it stops & switch the carriage on then use the remote control to engage the carraige cog onto the track
Thank you, by the way!
Did you need to buy a longer track? The Extension.... Where did you find/buy the extensions? I need to find one for my longer steps
that is my question as well, I keep finding them for 14 stairs and our staircase has 17 steps, we need an extension.
how did you get the chair on the rail before installing?
You installed it in 6 minutes! You really make it look so simple! Is that really that simple!?
It took a couple of hours but yes it was simple
Where are you guys?
Iam in Canada and I need someone to install it for me
I bought mine 4 years ago used. Cost me $900.00 and an electrician friend installed it…3 rd owner. Much cheaper than a new one.
Hello, how is this unit powered? Ac?/d/c? Or batteries? Thanks
@@joemanix1 It has batteries that you keep charged by keeping it plugged in
Very helpful video can you transport the unit on the rail or do you have to disconnected first
Mine came all together....12" long with everything on it. Free of charge from a friend.

and do I need to make sure to left or right side or it works on both sides.
Do you think it would be possible to cut the railing if the length was too long for your stairs?
Yes. You just need to cut the racking (track the motor rides on) 6in shorter than the rail plus install the black top limit ramp properly.
Also movie the top charge station down to the correct location
How much is the unit me install it
Thanks for the video. Do you know how to change the battery ?? Thank you!
What if the rails are longer than your stairs?
We have one we need to cut the length on. Someone said we need a special saw to do that. Do you know what we need?
It would take a precision cut so not sure about what the perfect tool would be. Ours was purchased the exact size on Facebook marketplace
@@PowerPlantMan Thank you. Your video may give us the confidence to install this one ourselves.

Either side of I remember right

Can the seat be rotated 180° and installed on the opposite side of the stairs?
I posted a link to the manual. Check that out but my recollection was yes you can
No. The machine is side specific
Come to think of it, i just have to wonder how the hell those selling these things asking like S$16000 to 22000 to install something like this ?!?!!!
Can we cut it if it’s longer….my friend has 15 Steps mine is 12 steps only
Yes it can be cut. 2 cuts. The aluminum rail and the rack gear.
background kid noises made it stressful to watch....
