Welcome to Cambodia❤❤❤
So glad you are enjoying this place we call home!
Rly appreciate for visiting Cambodia❤❤ and hope u guys enjoy and have a safe trips ,love and welcome from Cambodia🇰🇭❤️❤️❤️❤️
Fun trivial facts: “Aw Kun” meaning Thank You in Khmer has the same etymology as “Awe[some] Grace” or “Good Grace” since its origin is Sanskrit (an Indo-European language). Khmer is Austro-Asiatic. Don’t want people grouping me as a Cambodian (Coming-Bodhi) version of the people who have identity crises when it comes to identity politics {coughs} Jews, Arab-speakers, Afrocentrics, Latinos, Filipinos, and so forth {coughs}.
The Cambodians prior to the ‘70s called the dish you had with the thinly sliced beef that is poured on top of a bed of vegetables (which was influenced by French Beef Stroganoff BTW using Asian ingredients) as “Bistec.” Loc Lac is a foreign Vietnamese word to Khmers but now they call it as such because it was marketed as so by the Vietnamese who beat the Khmers to the global market. Just compare the concept of naming foods to how everyone is now using the Japanese word “ramen” for all types of noodles, specifically any Asian noodles, when different Asian ethnicities have their own word for noodles, e.g., Pasta (although not Asian) is Italian for noodles.
And in terms of the arthropods you ate, think of it as having the same metaphorical concept as the Christian Eucharist or as the western saying goes, “You are what you eat.” That is the Buddhist concept that humans all evolved or share the same origin as other fauna and flora. Carnivorous predatory animals in the animal kingdom eat other animals for a reason (not air, dirt and rocks.) So same idea when it comes to humans, in this case Cambodians. They eat only other animals that are edible for we evolved or have the same anatomy as other living creatures. Those who preach forbiddance when it comes to shellfish, beef or pork because a tribal pagan phantom, sky dwelling Big Daddy Great Spirit says so is clearly pretentious and superstitious-not true religion at all. Just as long as you are not a cannibal and don’t eat with your hands like how Sub-Saharan Africans, Middle Eastern, Indians, and Indonesians eat by immersing their fingers into saucy soupy foods (not to be confused with finger foods) as a sign of social rebellion (which is arrogance), then you’re morally AOK in my book.👌🏼 Aside from this long spiel, Cambodians internalized those arthropods the same way you see shellfish but living on land. And no they don’t eat all insects. Not roaches. From what I gather or seen so far, it is limited to tarantulas, cicadas, Lethocerus indicus water bugs (not to be confused with large American roaches), scorpions, grasshoppers, crickets, red ants, and bee larvae honeycomb.
Thank you so much for visiting Cambodia.

Welcome to Cambodia
Really fantastic video, girls. It's great to see the younger generation really enjoying the culture of a different country to their own. Everything you you both get involved with on your videos you both seem to really enjoy!! Wish more youngsters would be like you. I think when you look back on your adventures in many years to come, you will be amazed at all the wonders you tried. Wish I discovered Asia more when I was younger, because believe me, the years really do fly by. I've lived in Thailand on and off and loved it, but Cambodia seems to be the one for me when I decide for sure. Your both around the same age as my daughter. You both come across great in your videos, that's what people want to see, people enjoying their selfs. Keep up the great videos, lovely to watch and really enjoy your fun way you both come across. Another great You- Tube channel about Cambodia to watch is (FOR RIEL) It's run by Claire & Jeremy from Australia and is fantastically informative about all you need to know about living in the wonderful south east country of Cambodia. All the very best for the future, Girls. I've subscribed to your channel and FOR RIEL.
Thank you so much!! 😊
Jill and Hannah love your videos
Thank you! 😊

Cute. This video will do well. Cambodian content on RUclips does well!
Wow, brave eater!!
I love you both 😘❤️
I formerly lived & worked in Cambodia, glad you're having a great time. Khmer people are really nice. SInce you are so close, hope you have time to visit Angkor Wat, it is Asia's Pyramids, need 1.5 to 2 days at least. Suggestion - don't bother with Sihanoukville but Phnom Penh might interest you, if on the way to Vietnam.
Very cool! Yeah the people are great. Keep an eye out for Angkor Wat video next 😉
