You're magpies have such a different personality than our North American ones. Yours sing. They're not afraid of people at all. And they go on the attack. Ours just say "caw", and they are shy birds. But ALL magpies regardless of locality are extremely smart!

In the 1970's I lived in Turramurra, 40 minutes drive north of Sydney. Every morning from 6am, I had visitors for breakfast (two kookaburras, two magpies and some 50 lorikeets). We all had a great time together. I really miss those mornings. Love this video.
@@BackyardBirdsofAustralia Thanks for your comment. The neighbours did not once complain at huge noise the birds made. The many dollars spent feeding my morning guests was worth it. Also, I never cought the feathered thieves that were drinking the cream from the top of the daily delivered milk bottles! My first experience of skimmed milk! (oops, caught, not cought)

I wasn't around in the 70s but I certainly think that we need to go back to those days with regards to the plastic. It's sad that it's more profitable for companies to make plastic bottles instead of collecting and washing them like they used to.
@@BackyardBirdsofAustralia Agreed. Glass milk bottles were great. I resorted to leaving two plastic cups for the milkman to put over the tops of the delivered milk. That stopped the cream thieves. The birds were able to drink up the cream to, what must have been, the length of their beaks. Not once did they knock the bottled over.

Why doesn't Australia establish humming birds? It would beneficial for plants and people. Introduced species has always produced more headaches than solutions. But come on, a humming bird would rock in Oz.

Do not feed them this lol, I wasn't well educated on what to feed the birds at this time which is partly why I was actually reluctant to post this video. I can't believe I didn't take any videos with them but I might post the photos soon 😊 After all...what's a Disney princess without some friendly wild deers?
On a more serious note, the kookaburras (and cockatoos) seem pretty easy to make friends with but it's hard for me to say about the magpies because I don't know other peoples experiences with them aside from a lot of cyclists getting attacked by them.
