  • Last night wild boar / jabalí entered the boys' pasture and rooted up the grasses along the watering canal. They haven't entered this pasture since last fall, and I save as much of the turf as I am able.

I wonder if other farmers have advice about this? Maybe other videos talk about what they did? Can you use their “plowing” of your field to plant new grass, or something?

The local advice is to trap or kill the boar (during hunting season). There is no access for vehicles. This area is abandoned. It is connected to the village by an old cattle path that is slowly disappearing or narrowing. Also, due to the slope of the mountain, tractors will tip over. These abandoned lands need donkey power!

Is there any chance that wild boars attack alpacas? Has a wild boar ever attacked one of your alpacas in the past?

No, they don't attack the alpacas. That said, when it's near the time for births, we will move the ladies to "boar-free" pastures. There's no sense in risking an attack on a newborn cria.

I wrote these two poems at six this morning, before
my time to get up. 4 August 2024
    Names and Gods
    Athena the wolf,
Rosie the Great Pyr and me
    Named after gods:
    Rhode "rosy" was a god,
    If a minor one,
    No Olympian
    But and older one,
    A Spirit of Place
For her island rich and fair.
[Athena the Wolf lives in Wyoming, a tamed Timber Wolf]
    Steve in Eden
I know my God. I see Him in the trees.
He's in the lake; His breath becomes the breeze.
I speak the truth and do not fear derision
Because I have a glorious cosmovision.
I seek the barn and share my thoughts with Dolly.
She answers me with truth and never folly.
She is a living soul and she is nice, [llama]
Although I will not say that she is Christ.
At night the bright stars fill infinity.
The Moon will call;I feel her energy.
I am alone yet Spirts come to greet me.
The cares of life must fade and not defeat me.
This is my home, my world, and dwelling place
Until at last I leave and rise through space,
And fly to God? He's always been right there,
In me and in all things,I am aware.
This is the message I was made to share.
I hope Miriam Campos gets to read this.
I still get inspiration like dreams in the morning.
