  • In this clip I use cement to set a post for a handicap ramp gate. Afterwards, I use mortar to point up the block work on the sides of the ramp.

Your gonna fix the corner too. A jack of all trades. Nice to get outside and do some work for a change.

Love your channel. I have a few questions and suggestions. I know just enough about construction to where a lot of your videos are insanely helpful for me to fill in the spots that I forget. My suggestion is go a little bit more in detail down to the terminology that you are using. My questions are how are you recording these? I'm assuming it has to be plugged into an outlet whatever it is and you just record the whole day and come back and edit the whole thing together then just do a voice over? What program are you using to edit?
Thank you again for your channel. I built a playset/deck and fence about 8 years ago and plan to do it again at my new house and you helped refresh my memory a lot! I plan on watching every single one of your videos.

I understand, but, can you give me some specific examples. Will do my best.
I record these clips with a cell phone. I have a backup battery that I plug into it, so, it runs for awhile. At the end of the day I download to the computer and edit them using Shotcut. It's a free program and does have some quirks, but, pretty nice overall. There is more that I do to make clips now compared to even months ago. My setup is very bare bones
Glad you enjoy the clips and don't mind suggestions at all. Thanks

@@horstcarpentry I'll give two different ones. Explain the terminology and the application of. Like the crown of a board is when it bows up the benefit to always facing those up in your project is...
The other is the video where you were using string and the tape measure to square the deck but didnt exactly explain how the string and a tape measure can accurately help you square it out.

As a man who works by himself, I think you should make videos specifically geared towards educating people on tips and tricks you utilize to build things on your own, we see the time lapses and the occasional explanations but I think you could get a whole lot more deserved attention but simply titling “ how to build -- by yourself”

My future plans are to focus my time to working on small jobs and personal projects. This will allow me to focus more time on filming and providing explanations / teaching. I'm dealing with some personal issues at the moment, but, once I'm ready I will be severely limiting the "jobs" that I pursue. I will only take jobs that will provide filming opportunities and also some for income purposes that I may not film for speed reasons. 2021 will be when I start to devote my talents towards RUclips. Thanks for the comment

@@horstcarpentry well I hope your issues are resolved and 2021 treats you well. I quickly became addicted to your content and enjoy just watching someone else do the work, especially at the pace you do. Doesn’t look so stressful to the viewer
