These are two totally different machines. The Nespresso is a Pod espresso machine and the dolce gusto is a general pod machine that does all styles of drinks including hot chocolate, cold milkshakes and ice coffee.
With the Nespresso you need to pre heat the cup with hot water and use smaller espresso cups or add heated milk from an electric milk frother or warm the milk up first.
The Dolce gusto is a better general purpose machine as you can dictate the amount of liquid you want manually. All the coffees in both machines use real ground coffee but the milk pods are whatever the company decides it to be (either powder or UHT milk).
The Dolce Gusto will always give a hotter drink as it’s a general purpose machine where the Nespresso is configured to dispense espresso as 70c (when in the cup it cools to 55-60c) as that is supposedly the perfect temperature for serving espresso.
All these pod machines are are pretty expensive per drink and I eventually moved on to a bean to cup machine that is head and shoulders better than any pod machine but the pod machines are much more convenient or clean up.
I do agree the dolce gusto is a better machine than the Nespresso as the coffee is hotter and you can choose the drink size.
    Have a good week
    Joff 👍👍

Simon you crucified that nespresso! 2 buttons on the machine (espresso+lungo) depending on the pod your using that will give you the perfect shot of coffee to water ratio. NEVER run hot water back through the pod like you did, you’ll end up with bitter tasting burnt coffee! Nespresso much better machine but you need an aerochino for your hot milk and a lesson how to use it hehe 😉

When you dilute the nespresso like that it will taste terrible. Its a reason the nespresso is pouring that small amount. Its made like that. You have to heat up the milk , and then pour it in the coffee. Instead of dilute it with the extra push on the machine. Thank me later

Buy the automatic dolce gusto with the led bars, match the bars strength with the dolce gusto pod pattern/graph...it will taste good. Over extracting coffee pods releases the bitter into the coffee. Dolce Gusto Automatic high end range will give you the best extraction, their capsules have aprox 8g of filter grains. Nespresso is 5g ...weak and small...expensive.

I own the Nespresso VL and OL and a Dolce Gusto Esperta 2 and my Dolce Gusto comes with a lever that measures the amount of water that the machine will brew, yours doesn't? I only have to set it to 1 bar for a shot of espresso 2 bars for a double and up to the top which is labeled 10 and 12 oz.. in my opinion if you have the right coffee and do the right amount they all taste quiet premium although Nespresso does win Dolce Gusto doesn't to me taste like powder if you buy the actual capsules with ground coffee inside.. I honestly use all 3 of my machines and couldn't live without them all, but thanks for the video I enjoyed you giving your opinions on the flavors

the nespresso your suppose to heat the milk up before adding it to the coffee

  • @defencemechanism

You need an Aeroccino for the Nespresso. Automatically heats and froths the milk.

On the Nespresso you can program how much water you get by holding down rather than just pressing the button and releasing it when the desired amount has been delivered. The machine will remember the setting so next time you just have to press it once.

I ended up ditching my equivalent machine as I found the capsule coffee tasted "plasticy". Went back to me good old Aeropress (which is also far better value for money).

Isnt there a machine that can just make you a decent cup whilst you run around like a blue arsed fly on a morning without having to babysit the coffe maker?

Throw the cup in the microwave if it isnt warm enough ? I bought a bean to cup machine 2 years ago, fresh ground coffee is non comparable and cheaper than pods

50 seconds in the MW me, stir it round, 2 spoons of sugar stir that up then whack your nespresso on, stir it once round at the end perfect. That's how I do it. Dont be lazy when it comes to coffee, aerocino's dont do much, they just give you a fluffy coffee, and I wouldn't ever stray from Nespresso.

Nespresso has milk machines. You pour in the milk and the machine willl heat as well as whisk the milk so it becomes frothy. Fun fact it can also whisk it on cool setting if you dont want your coffee to be too hot. So you can use it simultaneously while making your coffee, which is more convenient then the Dolce Gusto.

Why no Irish Cofe (with whiseky), no Italian cofe (with grappa), no cofe royal (with congnac), no cofe carajillo (with rum), no austrian cofe (with cerry-spirit)...? Simon should work on it…:-)

Powdered Nescafé is delicious imo. Ten times tastier than the freeze dried granules. Available from Amazons.

You definitely need the Aeroccino for the Nespresso, it should have warm milk added to it. Also you can calibrate the 2 buttons to on it to give more or less water.

Thanks mate for the video. Personally I prefer stronger and bold coffee but I also prefer hotter coffee. I think I will go with the Nespresso and consider myself to buy a milk warmer so that my cup of coffee won’t get lukewarm easily.

You need to test it against a Nespresso machine that has a milk frothed included

Would be a more comparable review if the Dulce Gusto was up against a Lattisima version of the Nespresso machine, taking in consideration that you want to compare two milk drinks. I am very please with my Nespresso Grand Lattisima which of course used fresh milk.

I do like a nice coffee, but I'm not really an espresso fan, too much caffeine, although I guess it's ok if you want something to wake you up, they both looked ok, I have hot chocolate if I'm at home, I only have a coffee if I'm out and about...👍

Good review and nice language sound in your voice ;) but did you put cold milk in your Nespresso cup? Thats why its colder maybe... tonight its beer time, that is always good haha

  • @uhr789
    @uhr789 4 года назад

The problem is not the machine darling. You either have the wrong Nespresso machine, since there is machines with the built-in milk frother, or you need the aeroccino to heat the milk while preparing the coffee.

thanks for your honest review, I'm the same, just like a hot coffee and not have to faff about reheating it, so this is good news as Ive just bought a Dolce Gusto machine. :)

Nespresso is primarily designed and sold as a machine for Ristretto, Espresso or at the largest Lungo size coffee. If your adding milk it should be added hot, not cold.

Always rinse the cup first using hot water from the system to help with the heat of the drink.
I also think you are weakening the coffee too much by pressing a second time.If you want a longer drink need to use two capsules. Its the one drawback of the Nespresso.I usually heat up milk in microwave as well.

Sorry M8 you killed the Nespresso, to compare these two, is a bit ridiculous. now if you used a Lattissima machine with hot milk, and then compared with the correct pods that would be a true comparison. But same as you said your not to fussy and would be happy with jar coffee. But i do like your videos in general, but this one is not your best haha .
