Aw man, the disappointment in his voice when he found out it's a roguelite XD And the ending with the added roguelites, almost sounded sad at this point haha, but i totally hear you, it's a strange concept because you don't know whether the game auto-balances to your upgrades (sneakily behind your back, like rubberbanding in racing games), or you choose the "wrong" metaupgrade and make things worse in higher difficulties.
I'm not going to lie, I genuinely was sad lol. It may seem like a fairly harmless addition to some, (and even a benefit to some) but to me it is a pretty hefty weight that has impact on every aspect of _how_ you interact with the game. Went from my most anticipated roguelike deckbuilder that I was 100% going to make a series on to a roguelite deckbuilder that I will _probably_ cover more, but _maybe_ I'll just grind on my own time when I am looking to mindlessly play something. Just not really into the treadmill grind for the sake of grind stuff.
@@Retromation That map is pretty huge and the upgrades had clear caps on them, the 3 demo fights are all in 1 of what looks like 7 regions. I would expect the final few zones to be fully balanced around the player always having all upgrades, you bought quite a lot of upgrades on just 1 run that wasn't minmaxed for currency gain.
There HAS to be a community somewhere with the same desire.. if a bunch of us were serious about it and worked together, we could make such a game. I just cannot believe there's no other game like PKMN TCG for the GBC either.
I play Path of champions on a daily, so it's funny to hear you mention it so often on this video, fair comparisons aside. now I'm wondering how you play that mode... lol
@@Retromation that's really nice. here's hoping we get new champions there sooner than later. So many fun decks from the first iteration of the mode that are yet to comeback.
Looks like a really good game for sure. But i do agree with you. Would be nice with a with a game just straight forward nice game play. Maybe have some extra cards to add on like slay the spire. But would still see more of this if you could bare with the grind you have to do.
Honestly I spent the first min of the game wondering if that was a cat with a candle on its head. That said, v fun art style. And memorable, I remember the pig pirates

it doesn't balnce upgrades at all, but expects you to have some, and you need to grind for later ones it looks like

Ever since Runeterra's Path of Champions I have been craving more games like this, I'll be trying it out after this video for sure!
Yeah I wish devs would make more card rpgs like the gbc pokemon tcg game

Another instant Wishlist!
Will this come on Nintendo switch?
Anyone know if this is coming to switch?

I return to it every once and a while, it is my big card battler of choice. A lot more fun card mechanics, and easily the best single player content.

another banger roguelike gameplay by mr. mation

The animations take FOREVER

did they drop the free roam element of the game entirely?
