Matt, I haven't told anyone about my experiment, but about 9 months ago I mixed 60% Jack Daniels SBBP Whiskey with 40% Jack Daniels Bonded Triple Mash for about a 115-120 proof explosion in your mouth. Probably my favorite sipping whiskey so far. I keep two bottles on hand all the time. After I mix, I let rest in the bottle for a couple weeks, then drink. The minute you pop the cork the aroma permeating from the bottle is pure fruity bliss. Like a fine homemade fruit cake thats just taken out of its tin on Christmas Eve. Try it and let me know your thoughts.

This is breaking Matt's single distillery rules but it is my all-time favorite easy to make blend. 1-part JD SiB BP Rye, 1-part OF 1910, 1-part Woodford Res DblOak. End result is a toasty BouRye at 105.6proof - marshmallow gramcrackery goodness with some holiday spice. It is the best shelfer blend. Different distilleries but they all have some common flavors going on that blend nicely and come to my favorite proof point.

  • @CuttingEdgeWorks
    @CuttingEdgeWorks Месяц назад

Great video as usual! Blended this 5 days ago and just tried it. Really good!
Not all the same distilleries, but this is a blend I've been gifting for a while and I keep getting requests for it:
4 parts - JD SBBP Bourbon
2 parts - Weller Special Reserve
    1 part - Old Grandad 114
All in a 1ltr barrel for 5 days then dump and blend with...
2 parts - Woodford Double Oaked
    1 part - Old Forester 1920
and BOOM....112ish proof of magical nectar of the gods.

I added some of the new Jim Beam Winter Reserve to the bookers 2024-01 and it's REAL good
It softens out the harshness of the bookers, dials back the peanuts a bit, but maintains the sweet components of both.
I did 2:1 Bookers to WR
Wasn't as successful with the other booker batches from this year tho, but I'm going to re-visit because obviously I did 01 first and loved what I got...so I was biased for the rest of them.
Glad I tried it tho... totally salvaged the 01 for me because it was just going to sit and be a mooch pour. I wouldn't say it's worth a special trip to mix these...but if you have them give it a go.

I had about three ounces of 2019 George T Stagg (the 116 proof bottle) that I had been nursing too long and was afraid it was going to get oxidized, so I poured in 3/4 of a bottle of Benchmark Top Floor. The depth of the Stagg overwhelms the "young" nature of the Benchmark, and the flavors blend so well, making it crazy good.

JD Barrel Proof Rye has been one of my favorite blending components, but somehow I've never blended it with the SBBP TN Whiskey (at least not in 50/50)! This is a fruity blend! No joke, it tastes like "fruit cocktail" that you would make and put into a giant bowl for a picnic or potluck: loads banana, apple, grape, and strawberry.
One of my go-to same-distillery blends is 60/40 (your choice of the dominant one) EC18 and ECBP. The ECBP makes up for the lack of proof in EC18, and the EC18 adds some extra age and oak to the ECBP batch (especially if it's a younger, brighter batch).

Not a fan of either in their own, but doing a blend of 20% JD SBBP with 80% JD SBBP Rye is magic in my opinion. The sweetness of the JD SBBP cuts the tannic nature of the Rye an really opens it up.
