You remind me of my self... getting excited! Seems like I pray for my power to go out so I can run the generator! I have the same issue with my 50 amp cable with the tire in the way. Try putting the cable between the frame and backside of tire. I also bought a 50 amp surge adapter to plug in generator and that gave me more clearance for the heavy duty cable. Great video!!
Run wire to generator, pull wire through frame from behind wheel to line up connection 😊, be sure to cut power off before cutting generator off, not good to cut generator under power load😊
You have to exercise the generator every few months. If they sit unused for months on end they may not start when you actually need it. Plus it needs to be broken in properly. Change the oil after breaking it in.
We have a smaller size Westinghouse (WGen5300DFV) and it gets pulled out every month for a test run (about an hour). Have it on my calendar, first weekend of every month. Every few months or so, we even hook it up to the house just to be sure there are no hiccups during an actual emergency. It takes no time at all and we get a good peace of mind knowing everything works. YES, do a break-in and keep up with manufacturer’s recommended maintenance (at the very least). This is an investment that will last you a long time if you do it correctly, right from the start. Good on you guys!!! 👍🏼👍🏼
Good job. Whomever told you to add teflon tape to the LP hose flare connection was a fúcking chouderhead. It's a flare connection, not pipe thread connection!
If you ever use gasoline take my advice… turn off fuel valve and run it until it dies. Empty the tank completely of fuel when you store it. Remove carb bowl nut and drain that of fuel too. You’ll make it last much longer. I test mine every 8 months or so. Starts on first pull. Propane is great, but you’re gonna need more than one of those tanks probably like four of them
Great video... thank you... I think it would be best if you turned the generator breaker off before you stop the generator... to avoid hurting anything that's connected... thank you again...
I just purchased same WGEN 12000, pending delivery. Just disappointed that Westinghouse did not take into account the 50amp plug over the tire?!? Wondering if plugs on panel can be switched around to make more room for 50 amp cable plug?
Don't be disappointed! It's awesome generator for sure. In term of the 50amp plug, you can feed the plug from behind the tire if it gives you issue. We had an issue at first but then toward the end we realized you can feed it behind the tire.
Questions: Is there an oil drain tube for draining used oil out easily without a mess? Does this have a manual choke? Why is the L14-30R breaker look different? I wish the multimeter LCD screen on these had "wattage usage" reading Like others mentioned the position of the 50A plug is super inconvenient. I have a Pulsar 12KW generator that they have corrected this issue by moving the 50A plug to the left side of the panel.
I’m being sincere when I say the way your thumb was narrowly missing the forks on the plug was just scary to watch. Running or not, those connections should always be revered.
Are you having any issues with this unit so far thinking about buying this unit is it still working for you does anyone know how hard it is to get parts for this unit when you need repairs?
I dont have any issues with the unit so far, but then again we never have to run it for more than an hour because no power outtages ever since we purchased the generator.
@@tienanddaniela I have tried to tighten it a little more with no luck. I’m going to buy a valve to get rid of the plug completely and hope the leak stops
Good to know. We haven't got a chance to run for long period of time. We will be using it when there's an intermittent outtages. We have two 30 gallon profane tanks so hopefully they will be enough when we need it
@@poolfixer ...these generators run at about 0.67 gallons of propane per hour so 60 gallons will give you ~89 hours of run time. If you are talking about two 30 POUND tanks, then you are looking at about 7 gallons of propane (per tank) and a run time of ~20 hours using both tanks. I believe the manufacturers typically state that these run times are at 50% load so if your load is greater than that, you will use more fuel.
That thing will run your AC no problem. Look into a soft start kit for your AC unit.

The best Generators for all situations Westinghouse 👌
Absolutely 💯
You guys are amazing, you bought the biggest loudest generator available! That's a good one for the size of your house.👍
Hopefully it can handle two apartments when electric goes out
@@tienanddaniela I'm sure it can power 3 homes
I just bought the same gen and you made it fun to learn and watch. Good job.
Hes so happy. ANd his fly is open. LOL
It's too hot! The boy has the get some air breeze 😁
Let there be light Westinghouse

I agree I left gas inside the line and it messed up the carburetor so I had to get a new one

That is one loud beast..try feeding the cable through the back side of the frame instead of over the wheel
We figured out that's the way at the end to feed the cable! Lol 😄
Great video. Were u able to power the a/c, heater and water pump with it?

Yeah guys are so funny
Put all the oil in the generator

@@tienanddaniela Thanks that's reassuring! Great video as well!
Westinghouse has addressed this issue. They rearranged the control panel where the 50 amp plug is all the way to the left now.
You can always buy a straight plug instead of the 90 degree one they used
Your 50 Amp plug take the head of the 50 Amp plug put it under the frame and into the 50 Amp plug into the scoket.

How is that westinghouse beast holding up??? I'm seriously considering purchasing one in the coming weeks.
Is push start not hold start
Can the central air conditioning of a house run with that generator?
?

Can you guys make a video about travel about US, that's would be great.
Like traveling within US or traveling to the US?
@@tienanddaniela travel within US, actually I once saw you guys travel to the mountainous area which amaze me, I hope I can see it more.

Are you able to run this on natural gas? 🤔
This generator runs on gasoline or propane. There's conversation kit available to run on natural gas
Did you unbond the Neutral?
This is a bonded neutral generator, so yes, had to unbond to use with the interlock kit
EMP -proof your house
Never thought of that before. Might have to
Can't be done. What you gonna do, wrap whole house in aluminum foil??
Make sure u break in that generator properly
You should turn off the tank first ! So there is no gas in the carburetor!!!
I been fixing generators for years , any type of fuel left in the carburetor will lead to trouble not to start ,
Good generator but they suck more gasoline and propane like crazy it’s better with natural gas more cheaper
