Another great '80s classic, this is my version of Drive by The Cars. A big soundscape of synthesizer goodness. I used vintage Oberheims, a Jupiter 6, a Prophet 5, and a DX7 amongst others. I hope you enjoy this video!

I know when he started singing I was hooked.
1987 after my senior prom my girlfriend and I went for a drive and parked by the lake in our small town. We were talking about all the fun we had had that year. Just when I said to her it's getting late and I better drive you home this song literally started playing on the radio station l was tuned to. It was a blissful drive home. I should have married that girl, but stupid me wanted out of that small town. Now, I deeply want to get back to a small town and a slower pace.
This music makes me remember of a girl who was always involved with wrong guys. I loved her very much and I tried to bring her to me. We were very close friends, but she never listened to me. Twenty years later happened we meet again. I am married, she is divorced. She turned into a totally different person. Not even close to that sweet girl I knew in my teenage. But, when this music plays, the images of a tender past that's all it brings to mind. We never talked again.

Dude. Let me just say I was wrong. With Ric Ocasek recently passing, I've been listening to a lot of the Cars. Being 48, I remember them well. Anyway, your video came up as recommended & my initial reaction was, "Let's hear how much this guy butchers it." Couldn't have been more wrong. You did a great job. No one could ever touch Ben Orr's version, but this was an excellent tribute. Well done ~ & sorry to have misjudged you.

So awesome! I'm 12 years old again hearing this on the radio back in elementary school on Long Island New York city.
Perhaps the best cover of the song that ever existed. I almost fell for someone because of this cover not too long ago about two years back. Something I will always cherish for the rest of my life despite the fact that it never worked out I can see that we are about to become best friends as I learned so much about myself in the process by controlling my ego and always keep it in check. It was 1984 all over again when the music was better and the people were happier. Thank you for this, again and again!

Excellent voice and cover! I love this tune. I saw them live a couple years ago. It's sad they lost their bassist. They were playing along to his track and got off during "Moving in Stereo". So they played it again. Nobody cared, we were just happy to hear the song again. :) Keep up the great channel. I'm glad I found it. We have a lot of the same taste in music and synthesizers.
