As a music student, this is AMAZING!! This song isn't neither in major or minor scale, but in PHRYGIAN. That's why it sounds so different to other pop songs, and makes it sound so much like "edgy" or "broken" if I had to put it in words. So so good!!!
To me it also sounds like a double harmonic scale (which is used a lot in the east) but I still totally agree with you on the point of the song feeling different to other pop songs. Using keys outside Western music’s standard major/minor feels so brilliantly ‘other’ in this kind of context. It made my ears prick up when I first heard the song properly.

Sam and Kim have such complimentary flows and deliveries. They are both great in their own ways too but hearing them work together is always a treat. I think the fanbases are generally really similar too which is nice to see likeminded people collide every time they collab.
