Had to compare with No Time To Die after watching it and this song is completely inferior but it is still really good. Maybe if the chords at the beginning would progress with where his voice goes I'd like it more but it almost ruins it for me. Mid song to the end is where it hits hard.
Just saw the movie. Not gonna lie: I first I had my doubt with this song but as soon as the song started to play along with the sequence, I was speechless. It was one of the best opening credits ever. And the snippet of some deceased characters since Casino Royale, including M. and Vesper Lynd when she died, I got goosebumps all over and even teary-eyed a little bit. It was truly a powerful moment.
Franchement incroyable, une tornade de fraîcheur, je n'avais pas autant vibré sur une chanson depuis des années, voir des siècles... un vrai talent, le solo de guitare me rappelle des éclairs de Prince.... vite une autre chanson
+HazzaSoFly I don't hear a piano change, in key or tone....I hear a strings section enter. But it is a powerful song, and has some interesting differences between a typical James Bond theme.
I saw a live orchestra performance of this, with vocals tracked in, with the full showing of Spectre. Amazing performance and really highlighted how good of a song this is
+Zeal Zeru Well, it's the multiple tentacles of the group grabbing his enemies and tearing Bond of everything he lives for. Great symbolic if you ask me.
This song is beautiful. I am aspiring writer, I would truly love your support for this song I wrote The Ammunition To Break My Heart💣❤️ by ninanile. Please share the video and subscribe to my channel. Thank you so much :)
The way that they kiss. It is impossible not to be in both of their shoes and pretend that was simply...Acting. Impossible. That was an intensity I have felt before, and it's impossible to fake. 1:45 This is not acting.
It's different from the other Bond songs, but it gives me the impression there's going to be a lot of somber feelings and heartbreak in this film. I can't judge the song until I see the film, really. My guess is that what a lot regard as 'boring' and 'whiny' will end up perfect and brilliant once the film is in theaters.
"A Storm is Coming" sums it up perfectly for me. This makes me feel like Spectre will be a very sad, terrifying movie in terms of how hopeless Bond truly will be. There are no coy smiles, no witticisms and no one bullet to end this conflict in victory. There's only pain. That's what I'm getting out of this.
this song describes my life: to bed: * if i risk it all, Will you break my fall* to school: *tell me is this where i give it all up?* to food: *for you, i have to risk it all*

Diego NG He basically was throwing shade at Michael Jackson then saying stuff about Beyoncé and how much he loves her even though Beyoncé said she is completely inspired by Michael
Shows exactly what the film industry has become: the choice was made for pure bums-on-seats, lowest common denominator reasons. "Sam's the rising star...does anyone even listen to Radiohead these days??" Yes and, more importantly, the song is a better fit with the intro. And just...better.
+Darth Praedatus I do agree the film was a bit disappointing especially on how much hype there was going into it after Skyfall and it wasn't horrible either. It was a good Bond film :)
This is quite accurate for me! Sam Smith did quite an amazing job and it is my current favorite song! It has inspired me and actually changed me.. I just wanna give Sam a standing ovation! I don't think anyone could've done it any better than Sam (in my opinion). Bravo, bravo, bravo!👏🏼
+Alexandra Attanasio The song is amazing specially when you come to know that it was composed in 20 minutes :O Listen to this cover too -- soundcloud.com/bethofficial/writings-on-the-wall-spectre-soundtrack. Leaves an impact even without the support of the strong orchestra.
Personally, I think this is Sam Smith's best work. This song is so haunting! It is very reminiscent of Christina Aguilera's song "Hurt" There are a lot of similarities in notes, dynamics, and emotion -especially during the parts in the score that dynamically move crescendo from forte to fortissimo and decrescendo into piano (gradually goes from LOUD to VERY LOUD, then drops to SOFT)
As a big Bond fan I fucking love this! The intro is amazing and 100% Bond movie material. I can respect people's opinions on the song but I struggle to understand why they say it's a mismatch. It doesn't have to be "macho" to be a Bond theme, it just has to represent at least a part of the story or any small thing in the film. I mean, compare it to Die Another Day? I liked that song when I was younger but if any theme was a mismatch, it was definitely that one.
Dear Jordan, We don't give a fuck about your opinion. Greetings. No kidding, it's really a good song, but ah I'm not sure if it suits a 007-style. If I look at Skyfall by Adele, it's more a 007-style, what most people prefer, I guess. They "integrated" some James Bond tones/tracks in her song, you know. That's what I miss here...
skylixx005 I can see where you're coming from. Each to their own though, personally I think Sam's a good fit. P.S: I was about to rant at you, thankfully I scrolled down to read the rest of the comment haha. :)
+Liam Schoen I dont think so..Im a huge Bond fan and have seen every film countless times and know all the themes and this is a bad bond song..The orchestration is great and bond like but Sam Smiths voice is average and doesn't suit this song..

I heard this song first time yesterday at the cinema. It was awsome for Spectre. And for a moment I thought it is a duet of a male and a female singer :) Sam is amazing.
Take a look at Britain's Got Talent. On a recent video a drama teacher does Writings on the wall and kills it. The guy's name is TOM BALL. I will try to follow his progress on the show. The guy has the weirdest eyebrows though and the whole audience and judges stood up
Am just waiting the "how do I live? how do i breathe? when ure not here im suffocating i want to feel love, run through my blood tell me is this where I give it all up?" part. That part gave me chill..
+ManiacEntity when that part comes in the opening sequence, and you see the scene from Casino Royale where Vesper is drowning, it gave me chills down my spine. I love Vesper. She is the ultimate Bod girl.
with this musical wonder, Smith strengthened his status as one of the best singers seen in this world, even for that film, this song transcends all reality with passion, very powerful song for a timeless saga.

Sam Smith before he lost his damn mind, simply a masterpiece
Just saw the movie. Not gonna lie: I first I had my doubt with this song but as soon as the song started to play along with the sequence, I was speechless.
It was one of the best opening credits ever. And the snippet of some deceased characters since Casino Royale, including M. and Vesper Lynd when she died, I got goosebumps all over and even teary-eyed a little bit. It was truly a powerful moment.
I couldn't have said it better…
The tentacles were kind of weird, but then again it was exotic
+DJ Moon Knight i think exotic is a bit of an understatment
+TD Le that was the perfect way to tie in all the Craig Bond films, especially if Spectre is his last as has been rumored
+Christopher Brown If you stayed to the end of the end credits, it says in big white bold letters, James Bond Will Return.
I need an Adele and Sam Smith collab bad! Would really make my life complete :)

Franchement incroyable, une tornade de fraîcheur, je n'avais pas autant vibré sur une chanson depuis des années, voir des siècles... un vrai talent, le solo de guitare me rappelle des éclairs de Prince.... vite une autre chanson
Just MAJESTIC. The instrumental gives me chills...
+Visha Combs especially the piano change at 0:45
+HazzaSoFly I don't hear a piano change, in key or tone....I hear a strings section enter. But it is a powerful song, and has some interesting differences between a typical James Bond theme.
I saw a live orchestra performance of this, with vocals tracked in, with the full showing of Spectre. Amazing performance and really highlighted how good of a song this is
The instrumental is much better
Yes, great word, Majestic
I fell in love with this song when I first saw it in the theatre, the cinematic effect added a lot to the song :)

The way that they kiss. It is impossible not to be in both of their shoes and pretend that was simply...Acting. Impossible. That was an intensity I have felt before, and it's impossible to fake. 1:45 This is not acting.
Agreed

Shows exactly what the film industry has become: the choice was made for pure bums-on-seats, lowest common denominator reasons. "Sam's the rising star...does anyone even listen to Radiohead these days??" Yes and, more importantly, the song is a better fit with the intro. And just...better.

I thought the same! I love hurt so much!
He so deserved that Oscar for this

Omg it touches my heart over and over again everytime I play that song. My heart sings for this masterpiece. ❤❤❤
Dear Jordan,
We don't give a fuck about your opinion.
Greetings.
No kidding, it's really a good song, but ah I'm not sure if it suits a 007-style. If I look at Skyfall by Adele, it's more a 007-style, what most people prefer, I guess. They "integrated" some James Bond tones/tracks in her song, you know. That's what I miss here...
The negative people are most likely guys and girls ho only saw skyfall and never heard tunderball or goldvinger. This is a great James Bond song
skylixx005 I can see where you're coming from.
The lyrics and the instrumentals are great, the voice is kinda bad though. But hey, everyone has his own opinion :D
I've been here before
But always hit the floor
I've spent a lifetime running
And I always get away
But with you I'm feeling something
That makes me want to stay
I'm prepared for this
I never shoot to miss
But I feel like a storm is coming
If I'm gonna make it through the day
Then there's no more use in running
This is something I gotta face
If I risk it all
Could you break my fall?
How do I live? How do I breathe?
When you're not here I'm suffocating
I want to feel love, run through my blood
Tell me is this where I give it all up?
For you I have to risk it all
Cause the writing's on the wall
A million shards of glass
That haunt me from my past
As the stars begin to gather
And the light begins to fade
When all hope begins to shatter
Know that I won't be afraid
If I risk it all
Could you break my fall?
How do I live? How do I breathe?
When you're not here I'm suffocating
I want to feel love, run through my blood
Tell me is this where I give it all up?
