Thanks so much. I wonder what the weight savings from yanking out the useless stuff was. Maybe 100, 200 pounds of waste for a Solo full time. I'm about to fulltime myself in an EV capable of 2500lbs so this 2900lb trailer with some work can get shaved to 2700 potentially making this doable for my Chevy Bolt 2023. Hella useful information. Thanks.
Sweet man. I just got a dutchmen colorado 17rbc today which has the same layout. Cant wait to start modding tomorrow and set up my synths around where you have ur pc.
I like the mod of the dinette into the L shape. I’m going to be a single guy living out of this. I’ve watched atleast 20 vids in upgrading and found yours to be the best. I can’t wait to start inspector gadgeting mine
I have been seriously considering getting out of my apartment and moving into something this size for a couple years to save money. This gives me some great ideas, as I play a lot of pc games and would like to have a desk somewhere. Do you use starlink, or another internet source?
I am wanting to buy the 17R for full time use, but I have 2 problems with it. Main one being a 5000btu wall AC unit. The roof ACs are more powerful and have a hard time in hot heat. I can’t imagine that wall unit keeping up in the 100 degree temps. My second problem is the heater, great for regular use but again for those freezing temps I feel it’d struggle unless kept on high with an extra plug in heater. Correct me if I’m wrong please, I’m waiting to buy one
The heater is 1600 watts, so it's more than capable of handling 20-degree weather. I haven't experienced any lower than I think 16 one night. The AC is not great, even with the upgrade. I'm eventually going with a mini split, and that should help, but the problem is honestly the thin walls with no insulation and a roof that's just as thin. I'm going to experiment with a soaker hose on the roof to help during the summer months.
The camper handles cold weather a lot better. The fireplace is 1800 watts, so I was a little worried about my electric bill, but it was very similar to summer months. No issues with fuses so far.
Im shopping for a travel trailer and also will live in it. There is coleman 17r mad cheap super clean. I'm cosidering it vs older other RVs. If you were to shop for one now would you still get it? Also is there not a way to rig up a proper ventilation for the cooking area? Thanks for this video!
yoo, im getting one of these this week and i was wondering what the distance from the bed to the counter? trying to figure out what size desk will fit there. Thanks, great video
With the queen, you have 3 ft. If you break it off to a twin, you gain about a foot, but there's a cabinet you're blocking on that side of the counter.
Can you send me some info on how you pulled your air conditioner out and put the new one in. I live in Las Vegas last summer about cooking here with that 5000 BTU I want to go with a 10,000 BTU. Did you go from the inside and put it in or did you have to go from the outside and slide it in I haven't really looked at it too hard but I thought I'd ask you. Thanks for your video
It was honestly a very difficult project. Anything bigger than a 6000 btu won't fit unless you rip out the whole assembly and fabricate your own. It has to be done from the inside, though.
I changed out the 8000 btu ac for a six. Fit pretty good. I did add some insulation board to sides. Still vent in fresh air from outside to cool unite. I don’t know if the original ac was muck? But the smaller one runs off 4 100 watt solar and three 200 amp batteries with inverter all day
I dig it!
I looked at one.
Right off the to do list was taking out that bench by the door.
In WA now.
I like yours. Thanks
Same 😂
DUDE!!! YOU FREAKING TORE IT UP WITH THAT CAMPER.. THE COMPANY SHOULD SELL THEM LIKE YOU DESIGN THEM. I CAN'T WAIT UNTIL I GET A LANTERN 17 R ,
Legit. I’m going to be buying a 17R for the same purpose. Thanks for the video.
Great idea about using the curtain divide to help the AC to cool where you sleep.

Dude!!!! You basically conquered the design!!! Amazing work!!!!
"The dinette, nobody's gonna sit with you there, that's just weird." LOL 😆 you're probably right. Great video.

Thanks! Im about to buy one great advice!!!!
Now I really want one! This convinced me to!

Hows that goin for ya? Im thinking of doing something similar but my biggest concern is beating the heat in the summer.
Dude! I havent seen a 4x12 in YEARS! 😂
Its like furniture
Beautiful!!!

I use a truly unlimited plan and a vpn to hide that I'm using a hotspot to get full speeds on my laptop.

Nice dude. Great video. Have you done any other insulation or roof sealant upgrades?
I haven't, but someone told me a soaker hose was a great way to beat the heat. I'm excited to try that next summer.
Any problem with fuses blowing? I hear this a lot about other RVs. How is unit now that the weather is cooler?
The camper handles cold weather a lot better. The fireplace is 1800 watts, so I was a little worried about my electric bill, but it was very similar to summer months. No issues with fuses so far.
Have you looked into changing the AC to a rooftop unit w/ 13500 BTU? I have on on my 690FD truck camper and it was ice cold in the Texas heat!
I kind of like being able to change my AC with a walmart trip, but some extra BTUs would be nice.
Fantastic

Love it! Where do you park? How much do you pay? Just looking into it currently in Phoenix Arizona and I want to get a look at realistic prices

If you go on the camping world website and take the 3d tour, you can use the measurement tool to see how much space you got in different places.

Would a bigger mini fridge fit in there. I like the bigger freezer?
How did you do the curtain rod separating the bedroom? That looks great
There's a lip above the door that the rod rests on. On the other side, it's jammed into the corner where the kitchen cabinets start.
Man that is cool. I man cave it out as well.
I like this model and how much space it's in. Could you tell me where I could get one? And what is the exact model number as well?
Camping world sells this exclusively. The title of the video has the model. Coleman 17r
How does it do in the winter thinking about getting one ill be in west texas and if this will hold up
Hey bro, love the setup! Do you live at a campground full time?
Did the 6000 btu ac fit perfectly into the mount or did you have to mod it?
6000s and 5000s are the same size chassis. Had I gone any bigger, I would've had to mod it.

@@steved5023 Ever have any water issues in the rain or while rinning ac?
@@ericj810 no. There is a metal plate under ac ,it’s tilted out. So ac water runs out. No leaks with rain.
@steved5023 Ok cool. Like the wolf pup models. Seen a 2024 17r last week. Good lookin camper.
How did you make the dinette into an L shape?
Remove the cushions and unscrew a couple screws. It's not super difficult. Just make sure it's squared up when screwing it back in.
Where did u get the L shaped corner piece?
It looks like its just the old benches from the dinnette moved into an L shape!!
Need to know that ac
Duh... Like every word is duh....
😂 yeah, single take video with a lot to say. I'll work on a script for videos in the future.
