Nobody knows how "ancient russian" sounded, as it was a written-only language. Best he could do is look up Old Church Slavonic, which has prayers and all (and "anicent russian" is Old Church Slavonic with some random "simple" spoken Ruthenian words thrown in anyway).

LOOOOOOVE YOUR WORK!!! Thank you and lots of love from Moscow :) "zovet" should be pronounced as "zavyot" - "e" there makes the sound like "ea" in "earth". I really liked how you did the voiceless palatalized ending in "na grud'". You nailed it! Bravo!

@@the_miracle_aligner Hey, you spend a lot of effort to make it work such that you got a lot of languages down really, really well, to the point that those who speak the language natively only have a few minor quibbles, and they're moreso points where it's similar to an accent from another country that speaks the same language rather than being a foreigner who doesn't know it at all. You really need to give yourself more credit, man. You deserve all the recognition you've gotten, and more.
Your pronunciation somewhat reminds me of middle eastern accent. But I gotta say, your speech here is actually cleaner than the one of most people from the region who learn Russian for work purposes. Hearing singers doing such things is amazing, though. Some time ago I've ran into something similar made by a german singer who also speaks English. "I had a few days and my husband's Russian mom to walk me through the thing". And now I find this. Dammit, you guys are cool.
I like this a lot and I also want to commend you on the English translation of the text, which is the best I have seen thus far online.
