    This is great! My packaging cost under $1 too! 0.94c to be exact.
    it includes:
    -brown envelope
    -plastic bag for stickers
    -4x6 thank you card with inspirational quote on the back (in hopes they use it as decor)
    -business card
    -tissue paper
    - stamp
    -4x mini "thank-you" stickers for the outside of my envelope listed below:
    "do not bend" sticker
    "thank you USPS" sticker
    "YAY" sticker
    my logo sticker

    THANK YOU! I love hearing Etsy sellers talking about how the packaging just ends up in the trash - whether it's recyclable, compostable or not, it requires resources, fuel, and more to create for something you're just tossing.

    • @AmaraAndrew
      @AmaraAndrew  2 года назад +7

      Yes!!! 😍Like don't get me wrong, I love the vibe that packaging can create, but at the end of the day it just goes to waste for 5 seconds of enjoyment.
      Sustainability is a HUGE thing for me, so I want to try to make my shop as eco-friendly as possible!

    I love your packaging. Honestly, I'm not a fan of tissue paper even though a lot of peopleuse it. To me, it scream cheap or tacky. I think keeping it simple is nicer. For me, as long as my items arrive in good shape I'm happy. I rather have small businesses save their money.

    • @AmaraAndrew

    • @SkwithOv
      @SkwithOv 11 месяцев назад +7

      disagree entirely, although my situation is different - i make and sell stitch markers are jewelry (most isn't terribly fragile, but can still be damaged if the mailer is really crushed or something)
      one piece of crumpled tissue paper wrapped around my items in the mailers, rather than loose as they had been previously, and i haven't had a SINGLE item damaged in transit, where i had a number (a small number, but more than none) before that
      nobody has said anything about it looking cheap, but i have gotten good reviews on everything arriving in good condition and safe
      it's much cheaper than using a tiny box for each order, but i also use a single sheet of tissue paper in boxes to protect my items - folded and placed well, you don't need much at all
      i think it's much more professional than a plastic bag or paper crinkles that make a mess everywhere
      it costs like $0.02-$0.04 per sheet, depending where you buy it and the size and everything
      maybe not super useful for stickers, sure, but it's definitely useful for protecting anything even remotely fragile
      you can get it in fun colors or even design your own (although i don't, mine is white, i already design my packaging cards and use wax seals i've made to make things look nice)
      i'd rather an occasional person think it looks tacky than having to replace orders/items due to being damaged in transit, which ends up being way more expensive

    This was a really good information! I just opened an sticker Etsy shop so this will be very useful! I do have a question regarding delivery. How do you mark it complete in Etsy? You select Mark as Complete instead of buying the shipping label. But how does USPS know to track it to your Etsy account so it says delivered and that allows them to write a review for your shop? Does it automatically send them an email to review the item when it hits the estimated delivery date?

    • @AmaraAndrew
      @AmaraAndrew  Год назад +5

      Hi Alyssa! :)
      Yay, congrats on opening your own sticker shop! 🥳
      For all my orders under $10, I mark the order complete and select the “USPS” option from the “Shipping carrier” dropdown menu. This way, the customer knows that it’s arriving through standard mail.
      I think Etsy sends out an email roughly 1-1½ weeks after the item has “shipped” so then the customer can review their product. :)
      Sorry, I don’t have specifics, but I hope this helps a little! :)

    Thanks for all the info Amara ! I'm thinking of opening a bullet journal/sticker shop on etsy at some point in the next two years. I just don't have any art related instagram page nor followers. • @AmaraAndrew
      @AmaraAndrew  2 месяца назад

      Hi!! Sorry for the late response!!
      You should totally open your shop no matter what. I didn't have any art-related platform when I started my Etsy shop, but if you focus on using SEO-related titles and descriptions for your listings, it should increase your odds of finding your proper customers :)
      I'd say focus on the social media as much as you can, just to help promote your shop, but don't get hung up on having everything perfect. It's better to start and then figure it out :)
      You could even start doing a daily Short where you're creating a bullet journal entry to track what's left to start your own Etsy shop. It could be a fun, meta way to create content and promote your listings!

      So, I use the "USPS First Class Mail" setting in Etsy, but then have free shipping as the default for all of my stickers. I then include the price of the stamp in the price of each sticker, so it makes it easier for everyone, kind of like a flat price.

    Hi Amara
    I really appreciate your info showing how to ship stickers in an affordable way.
    I just opened my etsy shop literally a few days ago and I was struggling because shipping cost way too much just to send out stickers.
    I'm from foreign country living in the US I don't know much about postal system so I have a couple of questions.
    1. the stamp you're using like 55cent. is it good for all around the country I mean to go anywhere in US?
    2. Do you have to use specific envelop? or can you use whatever you get from michales , Walmart or Amazon?
    Thank you for your info and wish you the best.👍

      @AmaraAndrew  2 года назад +2

      Hi there! :)
      Congratulations on starting your own Etsy shop! That’s super exciting! :)
      Now, onto your questions!
      1) I use the First-Class mail Forever stamps. These let you send 1 oz. of mail anywhere in the U.S. If you find that your email is a little over 1 oz., you can purchase an additional ounce stamp. So, for each ounce your envelope is over, you can purchase an additional ounce stamp. If you're going to be anything over 3-4 oz., I would recommend sending your stickers a different way since the cost will add up. :)
      2) I purchased a box of 5” x 7” envelopes from Amazon (I have a link in my bio to them, if you want the same ones!). It looks like the maximum size envelope you can send with the Forever stamp is 6 ⅛” x 11 ½” :)

    I am getting issues with my local post office saying if it is in an envelope and is not a letter or card with nothing else included, it is a package and I have to pay first class package rates. Have you ever had this issue?

    • @AmaraAndrew
      @AmaraAndrew  Год назад

      Hi Violet!
      Oh no, I'm so sorry to hear that! I, personally, haven't had any issues with my local post office like this. You should be able to send anything that's under 2 ounces with a regular ol' Forever stamp and envelope!
      How large is your envelope and do you know how much your entire package weighs?

    • @VisStickersPinsPatchesPlus
      @VisStickersPinsPatchesPlus Год назад

      @AmaraAndrew hey! Regular sized letter envelope, doesn't weigh more than 1 or 2 ounces. I found out it was just the lady that works at that post office. Since my envelopes are a tad bit thicker than normal, because they hold stickers, she was trying to say it was a package. But it has to be like a half inch or something thick to be considered that. I have had no issues with any other local post office but the issues at the one were so bad, I can't send my mail thru there at all. And they're the post office all my mail goes thru. So I have to take all my envelopes every couple days to a post office further away. Which sucks, but it is what it is. I tried complaining to their manager. I would have to let them keep messing with my mail to prove the issue and they not only were trying to charge me way more for each envelope, several envelopes disappeared and were never returned to me. Some were returned a month later with no explanation. It was insane

    How would you have the shipping set up in etsy to ship with a envelope and stamp?

    • @AmaraAndrew
      @AmaraAndrew  Год назад

      Hi there! :)
      Thanks for your question! I have separate profiles for each item in my shop (stickers, greeting cards, prints, etc.) and each has “free shipping.”
      You can create separate shipping profiles in Etsy under “Settings” -> “Shipping Settings” -> “Shipping Profiles.” In there, I have my “stickers” profile set to ship with “USPS First-Class Mail,” i.e. to ship with just an envelope and a stamp. :)

      Hi Lianne! :)
      I strongly, strongly recommend putting a return address on your envelope! That way, if the envelope gets lost in the mail, it'll return back to you.
      I have a P.O. box in a neighboring town, so I don't have to use my home address. That could be a possible option for you if you don't want to use your home address for the return address! :)

      Hi Shirley! :)
      From what I understand, Etsy requires tracking for orders over $10. I made this video geared more toward orders under $10 since I was just starting out on Etsy :)
      That said, for my orders over $10, I use 9” x 7” bubble mailers to make sure that my customer’s stickers are extra protected since they’ll be around larger packages. I honestly haven’t tried using my regular envelopes for this :)

    • @AmaraAndrew
      @AmaraAndrew  2 года назад

      Hi there! :)
      You can use a single Forever stamp to send an envelope up to 1 oz. If you want to send a 3oz envelope, you can purchase "additional ounce stamps" to supplement your Forever stamp.
      I think they're currently about $0.20, so you could purchase two of these in addition to a Forever stamp. :)

    • @AmaraAndrew
      @AmaraAndrew  2 года назад

      Hi! :)
      So, I only use shipping labels for orders over $10. I purchase my labels through a website called Pirate Ship since I find them to be the most affordable option :)
      For my orders under $10, I just use regular ol' stamps. I have a custom shipping setting in Etsy for my stickers that I use to make it a little easier/quicker for me.
      Hope this helps! :)

    Do you use tracking for the letter? I've always been curious if tracking is required by Etsy.

    • @HMCraft_Art
      @HMCraft_Art Год назад

      In case you haven't found the answer yet - tracking isn't required by Etsy. You can update the progress of a sold order to "In Progress" or "Completed" after you've already mailed it, and while it has a box where you *can* enter tracking info, it's not required.
      I did have a glitch once where it tried to force me to add a tracking number, but it was some issue about the order being over $10, so it may require tracking over a certain price.

    • @AmaraAndrew
      @AmaraAndrew  Год назад +1

      Hi there! :)
      So, exactly what HM Craft said previously: you technically don't need to add tracking information for orders under $10. So, for any orders that I ship out below $10, I do not provide tracking information.
      For all orders over $10, though, I use shipping labels so then I can include tracking information. :)

    Hello! Are you able to elaborate a little bit more about the whole stamp situation please? Is it basically for every ounce in the envelope, you put the same amount of stamps? I’m just confused on how that process works. Thanks!

    • @AmaraAndrew
      @AmaraAndrew  Год назад +2

      Hey! Sorry, I know I didn't do a super good job explaining it, but hopefully I can help here! :)
      You can send up to 1 oz. of mail in a standard size envelope using just one Forever stamp. For every ounce that you're over that initial 1 oz., you'll want to purchase what's called an "extra ounce stamp." You can either purchase this from a kiosk or from the main counter at your local post office.
      So, for example, if you're sending out an order and it weighs 1 ½ ounces, you'll need to add this "extra ounce stamp" to account for the extra half ounce that isn't covered by the Forever stamp.
      I'd recommend buying a little food or shipping scale because then you can weigh all of your orders before you send them out :)
      I hope that helps, but please reach out if that doesn't!!
