    God bless Amy Goodman.
    Im British and appreciate her inviting guests to speak on issues that 95% of media do not speak of

    • @IonSquared
      @IonSquared 7 лет назад +8

      95% is being quite generous -- it's higher than that.

    • @pursang833

      What I like is these two hosts allowed the guest to speak without interruption. They also had follow-up questions which were nice to hear. The current media feels like they have to earn their millions by the word. That their voice is more important than the guests and that makes you wonder why have guests at all.
      It would be nice to have real journalists in this day and age other then news readers. The few corporations that own the media now wouldn't want that though as it would ruin their narrative and the idea that they want the middle and lower classes to believe.

    • @DrummingTmate
      @DrummingTmate 7 лет назад +14

      That was a very good analysis. It's rare to hear anyone on the "Left" in the USA acknowledge the tens of millions of white Americans who have been screwed over.

    • @HollyandChanel
      @HollyandChanel 7 лет назад +28

      Everyone knows you've been screwed over. What you don't realize is that every other demographic has been screwed over even worse (spare a few choice "model minorities").

      Arlenis B Thank you. White plight is real but so is everyone else's. If white people have it bad and they're the dominant society it's only commonsense that other races would have it worse. The main issue is the poor and disenfranchised are being blamed for the sins of the rich. The real enemy is Wall Street, corporations and our crooked politicians.

    • @platoniczombie
      @platoniczombie 7 лет назад +15

      This is exactly how Capitalism works. Everyone is made to believe that the system is set-up fairly; then when the majority fails to "strike it rich" they're told that it's because they don't try hard enough; people try harder and find that the majority is competing against one another for the limited resources available to strike it rich. This is where we're stuck at, and why the institutionalization of racial policies, has kept the majority competing amongst themselves rather than rebelling together. It's better for the rich to keep the poor bickering amongst themselves. Get passed the made-up moral ideals behind race; it's the only way we can actually change anything.

    • @HollyandChanel
      @HollyandChanel 7 лет назад +7

      Kirby Augustine They don't have the intellectual honesty to pinpoint who their actual enemy is. Might as well attack low hanging fruit while the wealthy laugh and get richer.

    If this is what neo-fascism looks like, it doesn't look a whole lot different from Obama's cabinet. And it's probably not much different than Hillary's would have looked like.

      @NellieKAdaba 7 лет назад +8

      True

    • @HuxleyWasRight
      @HuxleyWasRight 7 лет назад +12

      only difference is Trump is giving his administration a "tough guy" veneer, where Obama and clinton used doublespeak, Trump uses a more blunt vernacular. To be fair it served Obama well, the general perception of him is that he's a softie, a humanitarian peace maker, despite the fact he bombed inside 7 countries, made record weapons sales, deported 2.5m people, didn't shut guantanamo bay etc
      is this really the only tangible difference between republicans and democrats ? language ? democrats are much slicker and subtle, whereas at the rough end of the GOP they just come out tell you how horrendous they are ("bomb bomb bomb bomb Iran")
      if you're calling trump a neo fascist then you have to call the previous few admins that as well.

    • @UntilChill
      @UntilChill 7 лет назад +3

      Pat Hacker Are you kidding me? You're about to see how different neo liberalism and neo fascism are. They have commonalities, but this could be the end.

    • @HuxleyWasRight
      @HuxleyWasRight 7 лет назад +3

      Until Chill it could have been the end under Hillary as well, think about it, relations with Russia would have been at a post cold war low had she got in, she spent a large chunk of her campaign levelling accusations of Russian malfeasance into the campaign. She also promised to implement a no fly zone in syria and topple Assad, this would have more than likely a shooting war with Russia in Syria which could easily escalate into a nuclear exchange.
      Trumps a dick, but lets not pretend he's any less crazy that the folks that brought the 6 trillion dollar wars, the 20 trillion dollars worth of debt, the crazy keynesian economic policies.
      what West means is he's not a politician, thats the only difference, he's not schooled in the art of orwellian double speak, he's not a slick talking front man like Obama is.

    This type of dialog does a great disservice to the body politic. When EVERYTHING is racist, misogynistic, sexist, Fascist, etc., the public becomes desensitized to the language. Thus, instances and issue that truly require collective attention and resolution, are widely ignored. If you want to know who really got Trump elected, have a long stare in the mirror. The broad public has tired of the endless chants of "the sky is falling, the sky is falling".

      I tried to feel bad for not voting. I feel that the system is broken and Hitlery or Trump would both continue the destruction of the USA. I suppose one of the saddest things for me to contemplate is that the common people are too stupid to be responsible for our government. Even the highest level of experts disagree about how things work. (which is to say that it is a very complex topic) To think that the common man, who can't even remember what the current president just did for 8 years, is qualified to have any say so on how or by whom we should be governed. Oh well; empires fall.

    • @Lulumoju
      @Lulumoju 7 лет назад +9

      Nice try in trying to dismiss his entire argument because you can't find a way to refute it. But let me just makes this very clear, Trump got elected because of Trump voters not because of Bernie voters, Clinton voters, or any other voter. Trump supporters and trump voters are responsible for falling into his trap. He never intended to help working people, but he knew that that type of rhetoric will get him the rust bell and win the electoral college and it worked for him. Clinton lost the electoral college, but still received 2.5 million more votes than Trump. The majority saw right through trump, it was those who let themselves be fooled that lost. The nazi faction of Trump supporters are the real winners of this election.

      Alec Smith I'm not talking about Cater, I'm talking about Obama. As for Cater that recession went through Reagan's presidency.

    • @1thetvzone
      @1thetvzone 7 лет назад

      Alec Smith the recession didn't ended in Reagan's Administration right away. During 82-84 the recession was high it wasn't until after his 84 reelection when unemployment went down. also during the 90s during Bush there was another recession after Bill Clinton was elected around 93/94 when the economy was booming. When he left their was a surplus & balance budget. We know what happened after that Bush again. Obama stepped in 08 not only a recession but a global recession loomed, and despite the opposition he was up against, and dealing with a fracture govt historians say he will go down as one the best President. Your opinion you think he horrible, but not as bad as the President that will follow Obama. It been predicted another recession looms under a Trump presidency.

      Create your own currency in your communities, and start bartering again for goods and services. That's a good way to reject the oligarchs fake money system. Put your money in a safe place in yr home. The banks give you less than 1% interest on yr savings anyway All they do with your deposit is use it to make money for themselves. It's a scam. Then they charge you all kinds of usury fees on your own money.

    • @JoshuaFitch

      Fascists believe that liberal democracy is obsolete, and they regard the complete mobilization of society under a totalitarian one-party state as necessary to prepare a nation for armed conflict and to respond effectively to economic difficulties.[7] Such a state is led by a strong leader-such as a dictator and a martial government composed of the members of the governing fascist party-to forge national unity and maintain a stable and orderly society.[7] Fascism rejects assertions that violence is automatically negative in nature, and views political violence, war, and imperialism as means that can achieve national rejuvenation.[8][9][10][11] Fascists advocate a mixed economy, with the principal goal of achieving autarky through protectionist and interventionist economic policies.[12]
      Sounds just about right. I suppose you could say Trump is a proto-neo-fascist. Would that be better?

      Do you even know what Socialism, Capitalism, Communism, and Fascism is? Because I'm sure I know what American has brought us all to think what it is, but not the actual ideology of what is behind a lot of these social constructs. Every single one of these ideals believe that people matter, they merely differ in their implementation on how to go about a better society. Socialism, Capitalism, Communism, all of these ideologies have, at their core, the goal of common good for people, it's actually the people who distort and corrupt these ideologies to fit their wants and needs. Socialism is not inherently bad in the same way Communism and Capitalism are not inherently bad.

    It's not hard to see why all the university students are coming out so stupid when this professor is showing us the type of thing being taught to them. Mnuchin was Trump's campaign treasurer and did a fabulous job at keeping costs down and running the most lean campaign ever. I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt and see what he does to help Trump achieve his agenda. Better to have someone with good experience in how the monetary system works rather than a person with weak experience.

West overestimated the intelligence of voters, so did I, so did most academics - it doesn't mean he doesn't know what he's talking about. I knew Americans were fucking stupid. Obama raised the most money of any politician in history. But Trump is an outsider and did not accept doner money and he is not wanted by the 1%. Because if he had been chosen by the 1%, Trump's win would not be causing all the carry-on, screaming and recounting of votes. Right????

    Americans have replaced Representative Oligarchy/Plutocracy with Direct Oligarchy/Plutocracy, what the Nation needs is Popular Democracy, Policies that Redistributes Wealth and Power back from the Super Rich Billionaires to the Middle Class both through Progressive Taxation and Public Services (Affordable Quality: Education, Health Care and Pensions) but also through a higher Minimum Wage that is both a Ethical and Living Wage, Immigration Reform that Limits Immigration is also needed, with Annual Max. Quotas on Immigration to Protect the European-American Majority, this will limit Ethno-Nationalist Radicalization which is the foundation of the Right Wing Populism and Demagoguery of People like Donald J Trump.

      Brymel Chadwell a republic is only a form of government where the power resides in elected officials. The people we vote for. Thru democratic means. The Presidency and vice-presidency are the only elected officials in this country who are not voted directly thru the people. Everything else, from a mayor, sheriff, senators ,governor, even some judges depending on the state, to even some school committee are done thru a democracy. Direct voting. We even still have towns in New England that hold town meetings and the people vote on things that the bigger cities have city councils for. And city council, another thing we vote for.

I'm not sure what you are trying to argue here but if you understand the founding documents, not only is it stated we are a republic, but will prove to you why. Democracy is not what this country was EVER intended to be...although it is what liberals and progressives want it to be, so they can change the very fabric of our culture and society. The propaganda has obviously been working for you to make such a comment in the first place. The reason we have the issues we have with protesting/ rioting/ illegal immigration is because the foundational principles of the Republic are being attacked in an effort to erode the very essence of who we are as a people as well as a country. In the strictest sense of the word, the system of government established by the Constitution was never intended to be a "democracy." This is evident not only in the wording of the Pledge of Allegiance but in the Constitution itself which declares that "The United States shall guarantee to every State in this Union a Republican Form of Government" (Article IV, Section 4). Moreover, the scheme of representation and the various mechanisms for selecting representatives established by the Constitution were clearly intended to produce a republic, not a democracy. I guess if they still taught these things in school, people may not find themselves in a state of cognitive dissonance as you do. Time to wake up and not be a sheeple...there are much larger agendas attached to your argument.

      Brymel Chadwell and how did they intend to do that, with elections by the people. Again a republic is only a form of government where the power lies with elected officials. And the founders wanted the officials to be citizens. It's why the president is a civilian even tho he's in charge of the military. And the states are free to form whatever govt they choose as long as it's a republic. Meaning a govt where power lies in elected officials or the people. Why people think a republic is some alien thing I don't know. Where in this world is there a straight democracy where there are no elected or appointed officials. Or even dictators. Where do we have nations where there are no leaders and the citizens vote on everything? Now if you want to point out that we are a constitutional republic that's different. Where under that form of govt the rule of law prevails. Also laws and rights prevent the mob mentality. Where the constitution protects the minority and not just favor the majority.

    Don't want to hear Dr. West complain about Trump now. From here on out we are going to be compelled to spend all of our time fighting to maintain everything we have fought for years to achieve rather than making the necessary advances we could have looked forward to under a Clinton presidency. What did West think was going to happen? He spent so much time bashing Clinton (for the wrong reasons) after she won the nomination and was totally blind to the much more menacing danger looming over us. I don't want to hear him talking about Trump's Neofacism now. Had he spent as much time knocking Trump as he spent knocking Clinton during the election, I would not be so disgusted, but you can't have it both ways. He was barking up the wrong tree, and now is acting like that did not happen, and he railed against the only option we had to save us from the worst of the worst.

      I agree with you 100%. West claimed to support Sanders but when sanders said to vote for Clinton - to keep Trump from winning - West decided he was too smart for that.

      From Bush to Barrack, 8 + 8... I know, most will defend Obama till the end and I respect that.. But he has not changed any course in the Middle East or brought any peace to the region.. Much of it started with the 9/11 False Flag to the 'weapons of mass destruction' hoax.. only to be furthered and continued.. now we have this ISIS scare and it appears to have gotten worse, not better. ... then again, what do I know, I'm a racist, bigot, sexist!! lol
