Regarding optimising games for the Series S- no, it doesn't mean the quality of Series X games is reduced. Optimizations are made in several ways, for example every car model will have multiple Level of Detail models- these LoDs reduce as the cars move further from the camera. The highest LoD visible on the Series S will likely be the 2nd or 3rd LoD on the Series X. It's the same with the PS5 and PS4 versions of GT7 or playing on a TV versus VR on PS5. Other savings will be made by using less complex shaders, cutting ray tracing, rendering fewer transparencies (foliage, decals) , reducing draw distances and so on. None of these things take a significant amount of time to set up or cause a reduction of quality on more powerful hardware.

Indeed. I prefer Forza Horizon 5 than any other racing game but no comparison as GT7 is not in the same league as FM. But without a doubt Gran Turismo 7 is a lot better than Forza Motorsport. Besides the Forza Motorsport came out last year while as Gran Turismo 7 came out in 2022. They just nailed Gran Turismo 7. A lot better than Gran Turismo 6 or 5.
Eww! Brother eww! What's that brother?!? Whoever designed those headlight/taillights should be fired on the spot! Not understood. Requesting elaboration. EDIT: You mean GT7 is like the gametrailer of a Ubisoft-game, meaning good, and Forza is like the Ubisoft-game after release, which is bad?
Truly fallen from grace. Horizon is the the main focus game now for them and that one even seem uncertain now. Ironically there are cars that are more detailed in that than Motorsport. Hate to see it, because I much prefer Forza physics.
GT7 is beautiful though, even if there is some upscaling shenanigans going on PS5. The artstyle and direction they chose is super realism, and it just looks good. Doesn't even need the Ray Tracing. SSR looks fine anyway in almost all games that actually put time into developing good looking reflections.
Forza Motorsport isn’t even in the same league as Gran Turismo for the detail. It honestly feels 4/5 generations behind. In fact, I’d compare FM8 to Gran Turismo 4…
I have both games and they both need work to get near the peaks if their respective franchises in terms of vibe, playability and fun. It's a shame they used as many old gen car models as they have on forza motorsport and it makes it very easy to cherry pick for comparisons as I have already done myself to the point of boredom. I'd say overall the car's are more detailed on GT7 but the gap is a lot closer when comparing some of the newest car models in forza motorsport. The environmental fidelity, lighting and weather effects of forza motorsport are at times a fair bit ahead of GT7 but GT7 is definitely ahead in game structure. As usual motorsport is ahead when it comes to engine and drivetrain swapping, but as that's never been a thing in the GT franchise it doesn't really matter much. I always drive in the interior veiw so I find how the cars look from there is more relevant to me, and from that perspective some cars look better on GT7 and some cars look better on forza motorsport. Both games have improved with updates and GT7 has over a years worth of updates over what forza motorsport has had, so I'll give it some more time before I properly score it, as I rated GT7 around 4 out of 10 at launch but would give it around 7.5 out 10 now. If you just want to jump onto a driving game for some quick shits and giggles FH5 has them both beat because graphical fidelity is down a lot further on the list than playability and fun are.
@@kaisersoymilk6912 I know many people who have done engine swaps in the UK. The only difference with forza is you can do it on new cars when in reality people mostly do it on older cars. I put a race tuned 2.1 pinto into an HA van back in the 90's, it was hilarious as it looked pretty much standard but ate GTI's off the line. You'll also find that a lot British hotrods have a rover V8 or ford V6 and box running a jaguar IRS. You sir do not know what you are talking about in your desperation to try and defend GT7.😂
The Japanese have been buying crate 2JZ's a long time to fit into drift builds etc on classic jdm motors as well. If you're building a resto-mod performance car out of a classic, engine and transmission swaps are a no brainer because to try and squeeze big power out of an old engine isn't always possible and can cost a shed load of money for not as much power as you can get from an engine swap. Even tuning the standard motor as much as you can doesn't guarantee that the standard transmission can take that power either. A friend of mine fitted a 3.0 v6 out of a 406 into a 206, and I once see a Mk2 astra with the 2.5 V6 from a cavalier/calibra fitted into it. Have you ever even been to a custom car show? @@kaisersoymilk6912 I'm considering putting the 2.3 supercharged engine with a 230hp pulley upgrade kit thats in my slk into a Mercedes 190E as it's a reasonably straightforward build. I've been playing FM for a while and I think the game looks great but now that I've seen these GT7 comparisons holy shit does GT7 look good! I wish GT7 was on PC.
There is a room (can't think of the exact name of it right now) you go to when selecting to paint where you can look around the cars and zoom in and change the time of day so you can see it in different light. No, this is not in scapes. Scapes uses real life backgrounds. You wouldn't be able to do what he shows in scapes. Scapes is just for taking photos. Not walking or looking around.
@101francis101 Well, to be fair, FM only has an extremely dark showroom/Forzavista. Makes it tough to see much of anything. And even when you're inside the car looking at the interior, they completely limited the amount of head turn you can do inside when compared to Foza Horizon or past Motorsport games. I wonder why. Sure, though, needing a VR headset to inspect the inside is a shame for those who don't have one. VR in GT7 is an amazing feature. VR gives you several different rooms or outside scenery to choose from, and change the time of day with the click of a button. But there is a way to see the exterior in the livery section under "preview." Your car is placed on a rooftop parking lot or something, with about 4 options like sunset, clear, etc. Scapes, like I said, are just real life backgrounds. So you won't be able to rotate or walk around the cars like a 3D environment, but you're able to rotate the cars and place them however you like in those scapes. Then you can zoom in on them and aim the camera however you like that way. You just can't walk around the car and inspect it in scapes.
@@joescivic I wonder if they’ve deliberately withheld the “walk around” feature to push for VR sales. It seems like it would be quite simple to include the feature for non VR players - it would only serve to increase admiration for the level of detail in a more accessible way. Scapes and the paint shop preview are better than nothing, but it’s clearly not their main function.
turn 10 is quite literally the embodiment of "putting lipstick on a pig." They recycle very old models over and over again so that they can boast about how big their car list is but they don't actually care about those older cars at all. They are just carelessly thrown in to serve as a marketing tool. Polyphony on the other hand actually respects classic cars and they go as far as to update their cars from game to game especially if they learn that a previous version of their car isn't entirely accurate. Its quality over quantity from GT vs quantity over quality from Forza
Wtf does it care ? Forza is dead . After FM6 they went downhill with the speed of light . Now with crossplay ( pc Xbox ) they have LESS players than older Forza’s . And T10 just never listens . I play for 14 years + Forza and they never listened.
These "ground up" videos are getting old. Let people play what they want. Not everyone has time to stare and zoom in on car details before each race. Plus, that is not the Series X version you're displaying. Trying to make FM look bad.
Who is telling who what to play or not to play? Nobody. Like I said to someone else making this same silly comment. And also like I told him, there are multiple comparison videos for all sorts of games. Comparison videos existed for a long time. Even on Series X, FM still looks this way...on a calibrated, 4K HDR QLEad TV with the in-game brightness not jacked up. It still looks like a plastic toy car. Every FM since 2005, because I own them all, have given off a plastic look.
@@MultiSpokes And I'm telling you how it is. No one is telling anyone what to play. On a Series X, on a nice display, it still looks this way. You don't have to try making it look any type of way to see this.
@@joescivic Well, these comparisons are getting dumber by the day. And as I said, the author is trying to make Forza look bad, which quite fortunately, it isn't. In other words, such videos are a senseless bias, and dumb, for lack of a better word.
@MultiSpokes The game itself does that. It is nowhere near the quality the developers said, and not worthy of being a new gen and PC only title. It still looks like a last gen game. Why don't you go to the other hundreds of comparison channels and complain about comparisons then? Some people enjoy comparisons. I docit on my own when I play both games. I know others do too. It's like me complaining I don't like pineapple on my pizza when other people do. So then I go and tell people how senseless and dumb it is. Ridiculous
Cars made on the American continent are the worst versions you can get of any car. Pick any brand that manufactures in the US or Mexico and compare it against the same brand made in Europe and China and it's shocking the difference in panel gaps, paint quality, reliability and so on. I'm talking VW, Mercedes, Tesla, BMW, Ford, etc. So maybe when commenters see horrible looking paint copy-pasted on every vehicle in Forza it's actually accurate to what cars are like in the US!
Gran Turismo 7 has lapped appalling and shameful Forza a dozen times in a 7 lap race. It's infuriating. Still, though both need unlimited automatic real time replay saving both locally and to online servers. It's basically 2025, anything less is inexcusable and unacceptable.
As a Forza fanboy I have been thoroughly let down by them the past few installments. I wish they had real competition on PC and Xbox that would push them to do better. Horizon 2, Motorsport 6 and Horizon 3 was peak. That was about a decade ago.
Mate, hats off to u, working on these vids with everything else life throws up taking up time. I recently bought FM on PC, gladly on a discount. I gotta say its disppointing. I repaired (repasted) my 11yrs old PS4 a few weeks ago and GT7 looks stunning. its a better game in everyway. Even down to the singleplayer with the GT cafe and GT world map, feels like less of a mindless grind compared with FM, it just make things more interesting for car enthusiasts. Polyphony atd is crazy good, even down to the exterior textured plastic trims for the doors. Suprising the PS4 is really punching above its weight with GT7. I Doubt FM is even optimised for a Series S.

3:20 All cars have orange peel in the clear coat (European & Asian as well) I’ve worked in auto body repair for 30+ years & it’s actually for a reason, it helps to deflect the suns rays so the clearcoat lasts longer to protect the paint.
Then why does Audi/Porsche use a machine that can spray within a few microns of perfect accuracy to purposely avoid it?
@@jordanjoestar8839 Maybe it’s on the higher end vehicles, don’t work on too many Porsches but the Audi’s that I work on do have orange peel, it’s lesser than some other manufacturers but it’s still there. Technology is always advancing too.
@@jordanjoestar8839Yes they have techniques to minimise the effect, but the effect is still there. All paintwork will have it to some degree. Even hyper cars and supercars have it. It's simply a product of paint, it's that simple. Every single car I'm GT looks like a shiny plastic surface. I'm not saying the colour representation is bad, or even that the paint representation is bad. Forzas is simply more realistic. And that's a fact. And the guy making these videos hasn't a clue about cars in general. Making completely baseless statements like the panels look of etc. Or that look at GT7s paintwork "it's metallic with no orange peel". A statement made by someone who hasn't a clue.

But the gap has only broadened with time it would seem.

Are you still doing the in-depth Xbox VS PS video 🙏
Forza lied!!!
Not build from the ground up. There forza 3 models!!!
Engine and transmission swapping is an American thing. Many European car enthusiasts (and I guess the Japanese too?) abhor the practice.

Is it possible to walk around the car without VR? Is this in scapes?
There is a room (can't think of the exact name of it right now) you go to when selecting to paint where you can look around the cars and zoom in and change the time of day so you can see it in different light.
No, this is not in scapes. Scapes uses real life backgrounds. You wouldn't be able to do what he shows in scapes. Scapes is just for taking photos. Not walking or looking around.
Go to the livery
@@joescivic this works to see the detail on the car. It’s a shame there aren’t more backgrounds to choose from.
Absolutely no way you can defend Forza at this point.
That BMW in Forza reminds me of Need for Speed Underground 1.
They really need to add a BMW M4 competition and the BMW M8
As soon as Polyphony puts the S7 Twin Turbo and C5 Z06 into GT7, would you do those two cars?
@@ticotaco4548 those would be great additions to gt7 for sure.
turn 10 is quite literally the embodiment of "putting lipstick on a pig." They recycle very old models over and over again so that they can boast about how big their car list is but they don't actually care about those older cars at all.
The FM M3 is a recycled model of other Forza's... That's what happens when you want to work just enough.
The strangest thing is that in Forza Horizon 5 the model of the same car looks better than in FM
Wtf does it care ? Forza is dead . After FM6 they went downhill with the speed of light . Now with crossplay ( pc Xbox ) they have LESS players than older Forza’s . And T10 just never listens . I play for 14 years + Forza and they never listened.
You mean since Forza Motorsport 4, that was the last great FM game
@@joescivic I was speaking to the author.
@@MultiSpokes And I'm telling you how it is. No one is telling anyone what to play.
On a Series X, on a nice display, it still looks this way. You don't have to try making it look any type of way to see this.
