I've had a lot of positive feedback on "A day in the life of a Game Developer and Student" & "A Day in the Life of a Indie Game Developer & Student - Monday", so here's my tuesday! I'm currently on Easter break, so I don't have lectures. But I've still got some assignments to work on. It was a pretty fun day though, and I'm happy with how the elemental swords turned out!
Oh and if you're wondering I'm studying Computer Science. Hope you enjoyed this video of a day in the life of an indie game developer! I had a lot of fun making it :)

Hey! If you're new here, welcome! I'm an indie game developer, currently working on a physics based game using Unity. This is my devlog / devblog where I show off the progress I make on it. I'll try uploading every week, but I'm pretty busy with university and part time job, so I won't have time every week. But I'll do my best!

I miss this old video style, no jokes meant for 9 year olds, just pure productivity and cool music which used to get me pretty motivated to actually be productive and not spend all day watching RUclips and then regret I wasn't productive during the whole day. But hey, at least you got me motivated enough to actually start making games myself (around 2019, when you uploaded these videos originally) and now I have 2 years of programming experience and thinking about making my own devlogs (on a separate channel) so thanks dani! very cool!

There should be different biomes with different types of enemies
like snow and desert
he's making his game centered around different levels, not necessarily like an open world exploration type game.
There is a Wild West level also...

I think that when you would hit someone with the fire sword it should deal damage over time
There should be one like that but instead a poison sword that makes the enemy like fall and loose conscience or something like that for 5 seconds.

What about adding some kind of water in the world generation that you and npcs could use to extinguish the fire debuff?
Lightning should prob be Stun or Defense Down idk

I got a Idea!! Effects on death? Like for example fire when the enemy dies it burns or something like that?
There has to be a death effect by turning into dust
That's a great idea but to find one for the lightning would be pretty hard I quick idea I have is the little flaily(idk how you call it) thing that comes out of the helmet will look like electrified hair you can google it's in the first results in pictures
Lightning could be like a lightning strike comes from the sky an hit the enemy en it will be executed

And enemy should continue to burn after you hit them, and they’ll get more damage from this.

The bad effects of using the sword I thought of were
If you used the ice sword it will eventually melt or shatter
Or if you use the lightning sword when u hit them they will be able to move fast until there dead because of the shock
And the flame on the fire sword should eventually die out

I like the element effects. Look forward to how to expand their effects. Chain lightning, area of effect slow, burn damage over time.

if the enchantments eventually get too op than make a negative effect towards them if you use it for too long like say burning yourself if you use the flame sword for too long

Nice work. for a suggestion, it could be cool if the particles made a trail of some sort when you swung the weapon.

Suggestion: Lightning sword should do chain damage to enemies so it goes through one enemy and damages another

The swords look great! But maybe you could make the ice enchantment effect slowly drop down (be effected by gravity) instead of going up.

You should add *_😈EMOTES😇_* where the players can express their mood and the _Emoji_ will appear above their heads. Such as _Victory Emote😎, Sad Emote😢, Happy Emote😃, Rage Emote😈, Angry Emote😡 and many more..._

When you pick up the elemental sword it changes the color of your character and gives your feet the elemental sparks and when you walk on the grass if your holding the fire sword it turns the grass burnt ect. Your videos are so entertaining keep it up it gives me something to look for on Sundays

I have a few ideas so sorry for the long comment, I’ll try to format it so it’s easier to read.
I was thinking that these weapons could be drops from boss enemies that wield them, maybe when you get to their lair or area the environment changes to suit the element type eg. Ice particles for ice sword boss etc.
Maybe there could be other enchantment types such as, Poison green particles that slowly deal damage over time, Wind air particles and blows enemies into the air when they are hit or causing a shockwave.
I also thought that maybe there could be travelling wizards or alchemists like the merchant you have that could offer to enchant your weapons but in return for certain components or items such as the mushrooms you have.
Thanks for reading the long post, you don’t have to include any of these if you don’t think they would work but I just wanted to vent my ideas.Great Video Dani!

Cool vid but for the fire sword I think for the final hit it should turn the enemy into ash and for the ice it could freeze them then break into a bunch of ice shards and for the lightning you could make the final hit make the enemies go crazy with a bunch of jerky movements idk I just thought it was a cool idea what do you think of it

Effects ideas:
Ice: Slows enemies, makes movements sluggish for a short period of time.
Fire: Burns enemies, makes them lose small health over a short period of time.
Lightning: Paralyzes enemies, makes certain parts of their body unresponsive for a short period of time.
Yeah thats what ive been working on today actually :D
It would be cool if you added different effects for different enchantments, for example, lightning could deal damages to all enemies next to the target, fire could set the target on fire dealing damages every second for some time and the ice enchantment could freeze the enemie or slow him down for a while
That is super cool with the animations and it's very inspiring to me as someone who wants to make a game in unity myself.

Just a suggestion: Instead on adding particle effect on the sword for each element, I would suggest tweaking the sprite slightly and adding an elemental aura around it.
Yeah the problem with that is that you're gonna be able to enchant any weapon. so I would have to tweak every single weapon in the game, and that's just gonna super time consuming.
I just had the greatest idea. (Probably not.) You could make some sort of necromancer sword or buying helpers to help you fight.

Can you do that maybe: when you hit a tree with weapon it can fall on enemys? That should be good when there is a lots of enemys. The players can just walk in front of it trought

@@Danidev np. Suggestion, can you add (if you want) armor into the game. It spawns random pieces of armor and you put it on, for lets say, 10% less damage
