Band Maid is so tight that it’s easy to take for granted just how much practice and discipline it takes for five people to be so locked in, stop on a dime, then take off again in perfect unison
Totally great reaction! As a 68 year old rock & roller I can't believe my 2 favorite bands are BAND-MAID from Japan and THE WARNING from Mexico. Both these bands are just a joy to listen to. Also the bass players, Misa and Ale, are the definition of cool!
This guy is a trip. It''s refreshing to see someone PHYSICALLY enjoy the music instead of watching so stoically that you don't know if they liked it or not until the very end. 😁
I like that Dave pays attention to guitar and bass, too. Love his observation about the difference between self taught playing and those who took lessons or went through music school. Akane (Gorilla at large) and Misa (Barefoot Ninja Maid Assassin) went to the same music school. Did you notice how Mincho crouched down during MIsa's bass solo looking at her? You can see the admiration she has in her face. Then during Mincho's guitar solo Misa crouches down and gives that admiration back. These girls truly are friends. Band-Maid is love. The 10th Anniversary Show in Yokohama was one of the best servings ever. It was around 3 hours and 15 minutes. They designed the set so each member got a breather, but still, most concerts are between 90 to 120 minutes. The stage was connected to a platform that allowed them to walk all the way around. Just crazy good. **Note** Saiki wrote the lyrics to Hate. These lyrics are in her style. When deciding who would be the main lyricist, it was decided that Miku would be the main lyricist because of her positive writing. Saiki writes more negative, or as I prefer to say cynical and critical. Band-Maid is love, even Saiki.
For me, LOVEBITES and Band Maid are very different bands. One plays exclusively heavy metal, while the other plays pop rock to hard rock. It's just like saying if you like The Rolling Stones, then you'll also like Led Zeplin. Having said that, I'm sure a lot of LOVEBITES fans are Band Maid fans, and vice versa.
Fantastic. Band Maid, my second favorite Japanese band (As a member of the pack, I owe submission to Lovebites), but I love them, they are pure geniuses. Misaa is beyond all logic. And please...she keeps bringing Dave more times! it's fantastic. A blast of positive energy and friendliness.
Hey Joel, I just wanted to say that I very much appreciate this new style of more give and take dialogue with your guest....really leads to some great insights of the bands and your guests! Keep up the good work!🤘
Wow. Now that was a reaction. Enjoyed Dave's comments and in particular his observation of Akane's kit setup. Dave definitely has a keen eye for details.
This dude is freaking awesome, loved the song choice and reaction. Would love to hear his reaction to the instrumental From Now On as well...Guess we can dream. Thank for the video.

First of all man I'd like to have a few adult beverages with you two I think that would be a fun night. Great guest great reaction keep on keepin on gents
I don't know who Dave Rodway is but I have seen a couple of his reactions with Joel and Dave has great energy. I dig his knowledge too. Seems like a great guy!
Oh, hell yeah! That was a great reaction, and an even better Q&A at the end. You and Dave brought the series up a level with these past couple of reactions. He's a music lover for sure. Looking forward to The Warning next.
He would he loved Freedom, but I think Akane is doing an even better job in Hate. Yes, there is no drum solo, but she is very busy and play (sic!) a huge roll in the bass and guitar battle. The drum solo in Freedom is a surprise and fun, but it is not super technical. More entertaining. We all love it and so would Dave, of course.
Hmmmmm .... but maybe he would see something in Freedom that almost all have missed, something I really love. After the drum solo is over Akane are doing short and fast bursts several times. I love those, and no one else seem to care.
Band-Maid in recent years have added subtitles to all their new music videos, in I assume as an attempt to reach a wider audience. This particular song really benefits from the subtitles. I've watched a lot of reaction videos for it and pretty much everyone discusses how awesome the lyrics are. I've read before from you that your software prevents you from having subtitles. You might want to consider different software because most Japanese bands seem to be making sure their videos have subtitles now. You're reaction channel seems dedicated to spreading the word about these bands, which I appreciate but without the subtitles I feel you are presenting these bands with a disadvantage. Just one persons opinion.
I, personally, think subtitles are not that important on a very first listen. It´s more about getting to know the "new" band and feeling the vibe. Myself, I know them very well and it´s maybe on the 5th or more listens to a new song when I start caring about the lyrics. But that´s just me.
For a very first Band-Maid experience I kind of agree. Hate is especially an overwhelming song, so lyrics in addition is often a bit too much for people. Althought I have seen reactors honing in on the lyrics in particular, so I think it doesn't hurt to have them there. Many do not read the lyrics because they concentrate on the music, which means they are not distracted by them.
Not to be offensive or anything, but, is this Dave's usual state of being or is he high? I really like his enthusiasm and how open he is about music from other places other than America, unlike the queen of "I've seen it all" "It's foreign so it's shit" "I'm not impressed because I can't understand what they're saying" Kelly Kelso (seriously, please don't bring her back). Please get Dave to react to more Band-Maid and Maximum the Hormone and if you could please (I know it wasn't your cup of tea) get him to react to Sokoninaru... I'm pretty sure you would BOTH enjoy their song "Brilliant City" ruclips.net/video/Ch3OWNEdkbE/видео.html really enjoy your reactions, thank you.
I liked Dave. Bring him back in the future.

We love Dave, one of the best guest you've had on your podcast, we need more positive music lovers like him!!
This guy is playing drums in his mind and senses while watching Band-Maid. He just can't hold it in. 🤘🔥
Great reaction from Dave. And of course he noticed how good the drums were

Good review by Dave. He clearly saw the talent and amazing strength of Band-Maid.
He's the best guest you've had.
And I do have to add Dave's insights into drumming- FAN FUCKING TASTIC

They seem to be getting better and better live shows are some thing else now.

Same love this band and Lovebites. Going to see Lovebites next month in London. Hoping Band-Maid tour UK/Europe soon so I can go see them live.
I will see Lovebites in my city Cartagena (Spain)...and with the stage just 500 meters from my house...I can't believe it!@@michaelthain4488
Wow, not only a great reaction by a very appreciative gentleman, but a tutorial for those of us who don't drum, as well - BONUS! 👍😎😊
Man, Dave's enthusiasm is so great to see. Might be the most enjoyable guest you have had yet.
Hey Joel, I just wanted to say that I very much appreciate this new style of more give and take dialogue with your guest....really leads to some great insights of the bands and your guests! Keep up the good work!🤘

Dave teaches a great class! Stuff I haven't heard before, even from the drummer reactors. What do we owe him?
Come on now,
who came here for Band-Maid and left a Dave fan?
They are so damn tight live and fun at the same time.
Thanks for sharing Band Maid. He was very interesting!!
I like Dave he's a trip.
Dave was awesome! Great guest.
I love Dave's passion for the music and instrumentation.
I love this guy, best guest so far. He is so animated it totally makes sense that he is a drummer.

Rock on, Dave! (And you too, Joel.) 🤘😎👍
Have Drummer Dave react to Freedom (2020 live)!

Dudes facial expressions are intense haha
Like Neal Pert said. "Economy of motion"
Band Maid doing Band Maid things.
One of my favorites! Good job!
Hope Dave was able to see the lyrics , since hes a drummer should have done Freedom , MISA !!! MISA !!! MISA !!! the Barefoot Bass Assassin .

@@rolandkarlsson7072 Well with Freedom he would have been able to see Akane up close while doing the drum solo , not so much with Hate
Too bad Joel didn't tell his guest how many years the band has been together. Also relate the Jimmy Page story.
Just the facts, please. Enough with the embellishments and speculations.
JP story is unconfirmed other than he took a picture with Akane
@@BMfaninTN That photo is worth a 1000 words .

ドラマーには、「FREEDOM」 のライブ動画を見せて欲しかったです。
I wanted the drummer to show us a live video of " FREEDOM. "
ごめんなさい、英文が間違っていると思われます。正しくは I wanted Joel to show the drummer a live video of "FREEDOM"
だと思います。
