Lazer has a lot of similar helmets like you've noticed that seem to overlap except for small features. The Jackal adds support for goggles, slight better fit system, GoPro and as you noted a different venting design. If you don't need those features, then the Coyote is quite a bit cheaper. The Coyote seems to be on closeout sale at only $82.50 on Lazer's website which is a great deal.
It depends on what type of riding you do. The main difference with mtb and road helmets is that they have more coverage and protection against debris or branches. If you do a lot of fast mtb or technical riding it's not a bad idea to get a dedicated mtb helmet like the Jackel. You can also buy something like the Bell XR Spherical which is more of a do-it-all style helmet (ruclips.net/video/CUlCuXnBJBo/видео.html).
Yes, we've done a lot of bike light reviews. The Jackal's GoPro mount works well for helmet mounting lights, and we'll show that in an upcoming Magicshine light review as well. There is a full bike light playlist here - ruclips.net/video/0cG36qB829o/видео.html if you want to see headlight / taillight reviews.
Thanks for the review, I just purchased.
Glad the review could help! Enjoy the helmet. The included GoPro mount is really useful for adding a light or mounting a camera.
You think it’s worth paying extra for the jackal over the coyote?
Seems like just better vents and go pro.

Is it worth getting the Jackal. I am trying to decide if I want to just use my road helmet giro synthe when I mtb.
