The ORIGINAL Washington Monument located in Baltimore Maryland - We Climbed to the Top!

Did you know the Washingon Monument in Washington DC is not the original Washington Monument? The Washington Monument in Baltimore Maryland is located in the Mount Vernon are of Baltimore. It was designed in 1815 by American architect Robert Mills. It was completed by 1829.
Robert Mills also designed the DC Washington Monument that was built between 1848-1884. The Baltimore Washington Monument stands at 178 feet and 8 inches with 227 steps inside. It was an engineering marvel in its day. In comparison the DC Washington Monument is over 555 feet tall.
The Baltimore Washington Monument used local supplies - the base, the column and the statue all consist of marble from three Baltimore quarries.
