    My friend and I in years past would can together, pooling produce and sharing the results. We would can at one house, taking turns heating up our homes and families! 😂 Sometimes we would be busy until the wee hours of the night when it was cooler, children were in bed and we could blitz our efforts. So satisfying to do. I have very fond memories of that time. Enjoyable to watch you at your efforts with so much accomplished.

    Chelsea, it was wonderful to hear the voices of some of your children in today's vid. I can appreciate that you do not have them on-camera very often but it's hard to believe that your usually 'quiet' home is housing half a dozen kids. Plus - when our family (of 7 kids) was in canning/freezing mode it was All Hands On Deck and it appears that you do all of the preserving effort on your own.

    • @LittleMountainRanch
      @LittleMountainRanch  Год назад +10

      I do it sometimes on my own, but usually I have lots of chopping help. My kids are awesome during preserving season! I also try to fill when they aren't home or otherwise occupied - I feel really strongly about not having them on camera.

    Love your videos! I noticed for the coyboy candy you said 1/2 cup sugar per cup of vinegar, but actually used the opposite , 1/2c vinegar per 1 cup sugar... Not sure, but you might need to put it in the show notes in case anyone tries to follow what you said instead of what you did 😊 thanks!!

    I just am in awe of how you have such an easy going confidence in your canning. I am always second guessing myself and can absolutely never multitask. I actually tried doing two things at once a couple of days ago, and added two tablespoons of salt into my sourdough pre-ferment instead of two teaspoons. I thought I was really zipping along well, but nope. You are such an inspiration! Thanks for sharing your canning days with us! FYI, just finished canning your Cole slaw, every lid sealed, and I can't wait to try it in the next day or so!

I have two pressure canners for the same reason.. also both have the weights so don't have to constantly watch the guage... it's amazing how much easier my day seems with those few changes. Thanks for another great video... I so often learn something new...at 70 that is so awesome for me ☺️

We saw a few farmers that cut for a second time, and literally it looked like if I cut my grass after letting it go for a month. The cutting was pathetic. It may give him one or two round bales to the entire field.😢😢😢

    Hi from the East Coast of Australia. When I was young the only cucumbers we grew were what my mother called Crystal Cucumbers which are the same as you showed at the beginning of your vlog. We always peeled them as the skin was a little tough and could be slightly prickly. They are hard to come by now as our food likes have changed to the green long ones, usually called Lebanese cucumbers or just green cucumbers. My uncle and many country folk in the family grow a large oval white; as they ripen, they turn yellow and are delicious too. They can be rather fat and large and ideally better when they are lighter in colour. I will try to get some seeds for the crystal cucumber and grow some this year. We are looking forward to Spring which starts slowly for us in September. Love to watch you and your beautiful garden. BTW there is not one member of my family that likes coriander or as you call it cilantro, you said it has a lemony fragrance, to our noses it smells like the green stink bugs we get on our lemon tree. They say it is in your DNA as to whether you like certain flavours over others.
