Final Fantasy Tactics: Midlight’s Deep, The Stair Solo Onion Knight (with red chocobo) Challenge

It’s hilarious what I just discovered about midlight’s deep, fka deep dungeon. I started recording after I found one of the random exits (guides help), but this is doable with one character as enemy skills can be terrible, and they constantly walk into traps 0:52 and 4:31
The Onion Knight (with no mastered job stats, which would boost from every pair except squire, chemist, mime, itself and dark knight) and post game equipment (acacia hat speed +2, onion armor for reraise/regen/shell/protect, onion shield for high evasion up to 80% if it can be dodged, and sage’s ring to boost ice glacial gun and absorb enemy magic) is perfect as you don’t get experience nor abilities so you need that poacher’s den equipment in the mobile version to tinker with (far better than finding treasures blindly in the original).
I’d dare say it’s a reverse boss battle (think like a musou or beat ‘em up with roguelike randomness) as weird stuff can happen, like if you hit a death trap or get your weapon stolen/broken, you can’t hurt anyone and you should reset just like if you fight an enemy who heals from ice. I think the onion shield and sage's ring made it impossible for the enemy to attack (they won't do if 0% success rate/absorption), so you may want to unequip if you consistently get results like the video.
2:12 19% attack by an enemy and 2:52 is weak rush that is guaranteed, so I am glad they tried lol. Special characters like Balthier can equip almost as much as an onion knight (no katanas/women only perfume), Orlandeau (haste from Excalibur is really what makes him broken) and Reis can dual wield with equip swords while having monster based passives (I'd ban tynar rouge for its benefits and buffing holy breath) if you want an easier version as chapter 4 generally lacks difficulty (most human enemies lack cross job setup or use ch 1 weak rush and potion) unless RNG outspeeds you like being petrified. No need to max faith for glacial gun damage by preach nor wait for the onion knight exclusive equipment if you won’t waste weeks mastering other jobs (I didn’t notice stat increases when mastering some jobs though there is overlap with dark knight requirements though I believe the unit doesn’t need to crystallize kill 200 units; just has to count 20 kills in chronicle).
The red chocobo is there to move faster, ignore elevation and do a driveby shooting, though at the end I wanted to kill that skeleton so I dismounted and cheated a choco meteor which also never misses like the gun, without even needing a line of sight.
Crystals light up the place and if it’s an ability, the human can gain all of them instead of the one the game prompts. It is a whole new way to play the game with some RNG, rather than waste time with a new game plus when poacher’s den is available chapter 3.

That's hilarious, home alone robbers with Ramza as Kevin in the dark, until crystals light up (I should hashtag blind battle).
Yeah this game is great when you know how to balance it yourself, let alone it's so much faster controlling one guy. I thought it was terrible beforehand as I either struggled or didn't have to try to win.
I honestly wouldn't mind just redoing these floors when I'm in the mood, as enemies change too. I just reloaded and got behemoths. Holy crap 😮 we got a roguelike here.

@@MrVariant faster with one person? no it isnt. Your turn doesn't charge up any faster being alone, CT charges at a set rate. Any battle you can do solo can be ended 4-5x faster using a full party, provided you actually outfit them for doing damage. You also aren't solo if you're riding a Chocobo to boost your movement range.

@daethe chocobo is pretty much a turn to ride but sure, you can argue this not being solo to not have fun (and not using chocobo would only make the vid slower); might as well say don't use OP equipment, math skill (which yeah tell me how a party takes less time than that) or dual wield.
Point of vid is onion knight with proper setup does not need to master jobs to make opponents afraid to hit him (which you misinform acting like that last part where red chocobo hits someone as I showboat, discredits me).
Though you do also want to make bogus arguments about charge time, which so long as your thing is holy or faster (16 I believe) they won't have a chance, similar to jump with a dragoon for someone under 50. The more enemies you have, the slower CT goes as your "constant rate" means more interrupts with their turns. It's why vs wiegraf and velius, Ramza can have back to back turns after defeating Wiegraf 1 on 1.
It's also why the dancer is terrible vs multiple opponents if debuffing over chipping away at hp, which is useless in chapter 4 given the huge hp equipment.
Chapter 4 you can easily solo with a ton of characters, maybe 1 as a revive or petrify backup.
Next time don't be so condescending (let alone this game is so obsolete we could play better stuff like mercenaries lament or mario rabbids sparks of hope that have quality of life and multiple difficulty modes); reminds me of an account that talked about giving Cloud swiftness over spamming tailwind and using faster moves that ignore defense like finish touch (death, stop, petrify) or climhazzard (blade beam needs him to be weakened instead of opponents with climhazzard, so it sucks).
Also, chapter 1 is much faster to concentrate JP into 4 characters as story battles lock out the 5th one until the end, and in chapter 2 you get Alicia, Ladd, and Lavian, though you shouldn't dismiss them if you want Agrias' Tynar Rouge lipstick (which makes Reis' holy breath even more overpowered to take out parties) on her birthday chapter 4 (cancer 1 500k also need mustadio as you enter the event in some towns).
Your spells go off faster, but you won't have extra turns compared to spamming tailwind (the most broken skill in the game to buff speed instantly 100% with both Ramza and Luso when haste misses and has height limits, next to farming with a monk for throw stone until that is power crept) so it really doesn't matter.
It's kinda like spamming the faster rapha/marach first spells in the war of the Lions remake that are buffed to hit enemies randomly (and they join around ramza's level which if you made him a dark knight, they get a huge magic attack boost to do serious damage over weak stuff around level 40).

Mime is just icing, like the chocobo you cried about. Graviga does damage cap as it is half damage to bosses. Similarly, oracle's invigoration is 25% to anyone to drain life (4 shot bosses, which Beowulf can instantly do), and hesitation gets non-lucavi bosses to not act.
Beowulf and Reis' holy breath (like Rapha/Marach but better if RNG is on your side) will finish off enemies faster than a full party. I do have a vid on that in my playlist though I was kinda new to the exploits and used a full party I didn't need (though I knew Orlandeau was slowing me down lol like a hold my beer once I give Beowulf his hasted excalibur to do 700 to drain final boss).
In my previous comment I said I have a playlist, which I put below, and in my let's jump argath video, where friendly fire kills argath before dragoon ramza overkills, I use 4 people as the 5th one won't let you get JP Spillover (1/4 JP is received by everyone in battle party for that job) while on the sidelines of early chapter 1 story battles.
